Chapter 1298: Chapter 1298: Nonsense, You Can’t Do This Anymore
Gu Ya spotted his little wife in the crowd at first glance.
Su Yunjin also saw Gu Ya at first glance.
Her eyes lit up.
Su Yunjin was about to go to Gu Ya, but as the Prince and his wife were busy starting the banquet, it wasn’t good for Su Yunjin to stay around the prince’s wife the entire time. After briefly excusing herself, Su Yunjin jogged toward Gu Ya.
And she was heavily pregnant!
The little wife ran over just like that.
Su Yunjin didn’t think much of it? Gu Ya, however, was quite frightened by his little wife’s actions. "Yunjin, slow down, be careful with the baby," Gu Ya said, his face filled with worry.
He stepped forward to stop his wife from running. Su Yunjin stopped, indifferent, and even poked her belly, which was as large as a watermelon.
"My husband, it’s okay, don’t worry." Su Yunjin was aware of her limits. She was jogging, not running too fast.
The baby would be safe in her womb. Although she said so, Gu Ya was still unsmiling and scolded her, "Recklessness, you must never do this again."
What if the baby were harmed next time? Holding Gu Ya’s hand, Su Yunjin walked to a nearby table. "Alright, my husband, I know now. I won’t run again."
Su Yunjin smiled playfully.
Gu Ya’s anger dissipated instantly.
Once the prince and his wife had finished speaking and announced the start of the meal, Su Yunjin had planned to share a table with Gu Ya but was called over by the prince’s wife. Thus, Su Yunjin went to eat at the prince’s wife’s table, leaving Gu Ya behind, who luckily ended up at a table with the returning prince.
Su Yunjin noticed that the people sitting at Gu Ya’s table were almost all men, no women, while almost all at her table were women, with not a single man, except for two little boys who didn’t count as grown men.
A child aged five or six is merely a toddler. Su Yunjin was invited by the prince’s wife, so of course, she sat beside her. Su Yunjin didn’t recognize any of the ladies or young misses at this table. From their attire and the poise in their movements, Su Yunjin could tell that these people were likely nobility from Jincheng; if they weren’t from Jincheng, the prince’s wife wouldn’t have hosted them herself.
Su Yunjin guessed right; all the ladies at this table were indeed from Jincheng, all noble women and ladies, most of whom, like the prince’s wife, were wives of princes from Donglin or spouses of high officials. Today, the prince’s wife had acknowledged Su Yunjin as her sworn sister.
As these ladies and young misses ate, they scrutinized Su Yunjin nonchalantly, curious to see what was so special about this countrified woman that she had managed to become the sworn sister of the Empress Dowager’s own proper daughter-in-law in less than half a year. Su Yunjin felt their gazes, but since their looks were inquisitive and not malevolent, she did not take it to heart and pretended not to notice.
Let them scrutinize.
One lady spoke first and poured a cup of wine, raising it, "Your Highness, today is the Little Prince’s full-month celebration, which is a joyful event, and you have acknowledged such a talented sworn sister, adding another joy. I toast to you first, to congratulate you on your continuous joy," spoke the lady, the wife of Grand Master, a high-ranking official in the court.
It was well-known that the Grand Master’s wife was a smooth talker, tactful and exquisite.
