Chapter 1264: Chapter 1264: A Feast for the Eyes
Gu Ya watched as his little wife nodded.
He instructed her to wait for him again before he left the room. Soon, Gu Ya returned with a bowl of chicken soup and two bowls of rice.
Gu Ya had made the soup with an old hen, which was fragrant and well-cooked, and although no seasoning was added, it tasted fresh. Su Yunjin scooped up a spoonful to taste,
and smiled at Gu Ya.
"Husband, it’s really delicious." This purely natural chicken soup was indeed the tastiest. Su Yunjin savored it, and after one spoonful, she took another.
Eating rice with chicken soup would be even more flavorful. Su Yunjin added some chicken soup to her rice and scooped it up with her spoon to eat, while Gu Ya still worried that his little wife might not enjoy the food he made.
Seeing his wife eating happily, a smile curled up the corners of Gu Ya’s mouth. After Su Yunjin had a few bites, she looked up at Gu Ya, "Husband, aren’t you eating? Why aren’t you eating?"
After she had a few mouthfuls, Su Yunjin realized that Gu Ya had been watching her eat all along and had not touched his chopsticks. Caught by his wife’s gaze, Gu Ya finally picked up his chopsticks and started eating.
One bowl of chicken soup and a bowl of rice, Su Yunjin ate with exceptional satisfaction. Tomorrow, she had to go to the Prince Qi Residence. Before going to bed, Su Yunjin pulled out the gift she planned to present to the Princess Consort Rui to check it again.
After confirming that all the gifts were placed in the wooden box to be sent to the Prince Qi Residence tomorrow, Su Yunjin felt relieved. The invitees from the Prince Qi Residence were all either rich or noble.
Among those people tomorrow, Su Yunjin also carefully prepared her attire. When she and Gu Ya visited a place like the Prince Qi Residence, they couldn’t dress too casually; otherwise, if others were dressed in fine clothes while she and Gu Ya were dressed plainly, it would invite disdain.
Although Su Yunjin didn’t care for competing in finery,
she couldn’t let others look down on her.
Since they were visiting the Wang Residence, naturally, she needed to wear something formal and valuable.
Su Yunjin carefully prepared her own dress and Gu Ya’s robe. The next morning, she got up early and changed into her dress.
For her hair, Su Yunjin picked and chose, finally selecting the set the Old Princess Consort had given her, a set that was valuable yet simple.
It suited the occasion at the Prince Qi Residence perfectly, and furthermore, wearing the hairpieces and jewelry given by the Old Princess Consort would demonstrate her appreciation for the gifts from the Wang Residence.
It was good to wear them.
Su Yunjin simply styled her hair in a generous bun and adorned it with the Jade Hairpin, then turned around to look at Gu Ya, only to see that he wasn’t wearing the robe she had prepared for him.
"Husband, why aren’t you wearing the robe I prepared for you?" Su Yunjin asked, pointing to the robe lying on the table.
A dark green robe.
The material was fine brocade.
Skillfully made, it was a robe Su Yunjin had taken her time to pick out from the Shen Residence’s Clothes Store just for Gu Ya.
Gu Ya glanced indifferently at the robe on the table.
He didn’t like that shade of dark green, "Yunjin, the robe I have on is just fine." Gu Ya was wearing the same robe he often wore.
Although the robe’s fabric wasn’t as fine as the dark green brocade, it was still made of silk. It was slightly inferior to the brocade, but all in all, it wasn’t too shabby compared to what the average person could afford. Gu Ya had no intention of changing, and fortunately, Gu Ya was handsome, so any attire looked pleasing on him.
Su Yunjin surveyed Gu Ya from top to bottom,
feeling that what he was wearing was not bad
and decided not to insist that he change.
"Husband, that’s fine, then. You can just wear what you have on."
