The Herbal Scents of Farm Life
Chapter 2259: Are these poison corpses?

Chapter 2259: Chapter 2259: Are these poison corpses?

Once again walking through the corridor, Zhen Wu led the way, moving forward while posing a question.

Having knocked out those Feather Forest Guards, what if something goes awry during the shift change? What then?

With them inside this underground palace, wouldn’t it be like trapping ourselves in the urn for turtles, ready for capture?

This is absolutely unacceptable.

"Don’t worry, they won’t remember anything," Lin Caisang said calmly.

The dosage of the drug she administered was just right; by the time the guards above sensed something was off and came down to investigate, those Feather Forest Guards would have already regained consciousness.

Furthermore, the drug powder has the effect of confounding memories. They would unknowingly fill in gaps with past memories and naturally, it would be even less likely for anyone to uncover the truth. Lin Caisang was quite confident in this.

"Are we heading downward?"

The path underfoot was smooth, and her only sensation was that they were descending.

"Yes."

Zimo responded with a single word from beside her.

"This passage seems very long, it looks like it leads all the way down."

"So it is," Lin Caisang nodded after hearing his words.

Descending was correct; Emperor Ziyan would not have left the vessel of another demonic heir up here, especially not after the previous underground palace was destroyed.

Since the breath of the mystical phoenix veins could hardly be detected in that ruined palace, what more above it?

Therefore, the other palace must lie below the first one.

Only below, would one be able to sense the aura of the phoenix veins more clearly.

"Then let’s keep going and see what kind of monstrosity Emperor Ziyan has created this time, plotting to destroy the Illusion Continent," Lin Caisang mused.

"Be careful later," Zimo warned her with concern.

Upon hearing his words, Lin Caisang looked up at him.

"I know, I’ll be careful. You too, be careful."

They both needed to be cautious, for no one knew what exactly lay within this underground palace.

...

Not long after, the group finally discovered what monstrosities Emperor Ziyan had cultivated within this underground palace.

"My lord, what are these things?!" both Zhe Jue and Zhen Wu asked in unison, yet they were positioned differently, wrestling with different creatures.

Those creatures clad in black lunged at the sight of the living, showing no courtesy, and their swords, though sharp, left no marks on the creatures’ bodies whatsoever.

"Toxic undead!"

With one arm wrapped around Lin Caisang’s waist, Zimo avoided the toxic undead while replying.

"These are toxic undead?"

Lin Caisang expressed her surprise for a brief moment.

But she quickly realized these were indeed toxic undead, though far more formidable than the ordinary kind.

"It seems Emperor Ziyan truly cannot be underestimated; he dares to concoct all manners of evil," she remarked with a sigh.

If these toxic undead were unleashed, there’s no telling how many people on the Illusion Continent they might harm.

"Mistress, let’s not reflect upon this, we need a plan!" Zhen Wu was close to tears.

So many toxic undead, and they were but a few with only several pairs of hands, facing an indeterminable number of enemies.

Even though the area was lit, the dense swarm of toxic undead made it impossible for him to count. One thing Zhen Wu knew for certain was that there were an overwhelming number of toxic undead here!
