Chapter 2023: Chapter 2023: Trying to Infuriate Me to Death?
When did Sky City start resorting to such vicious means as setting traps for me to achieve their goals?
"Don’t you ever bring this up again, the nonsense about framing Lin Nian. If your Uncle learns of this, he won’t let you off easily! And forget about Lin Nian as well.
A young girl like you, what are you trying to do, falling for someone as old as Lin Nian? You’re going to disgrace the entire Ding Family!"
"Auntie, Rong’er truly loves Lin Nian," Ding Rong stomped her foot and said.
Asking her to give up on Lin Nian was impossible; she was determined to have him, no matter what!
"What’s your love worth?"
The woman stood up from her chair, flicked her sleeve, and slowly walked towards Ding Rong.
"That Lin Nian is your Uncle’s lifesaver. Even I, your Auntie, have to show him great respect when I see him, let alone you. Did you anger him again today? What foolishness have you done now? Speak!"
Her niece had certainly been foolish over Lin Nian before.
But those were minor and could be overlooked. Now, however, the situation seemed to be getting out of hand.
"I..." Ding Rong opened her mouth but hesitated to mention the grandiose claims she had made outside Lin Residence.
"You think I won’t find out just because you don’t say anything? Someone..."
"Wait, Auntie, I... I’ll say it myself."
Seeing that her Aunt was about to call for someone outside, Ding Rong quickly spoke up to stop her.
It was better for her to confess than to let others do so. Now that she had regained her senses, she realized the nonsense she had blurted out.
"All I wanted was to force Lin Nian into a fait accompli, but I couldn’t tie him up; those guards wouldn’t listen to me."
The woman sighed inwardly at Ding Rong’s words.
This girl actually thought about abducting Lin Nian. If this got back to the Lord of the City, even she might get scolded.
"Do you... do you want to drive me to my grave?" she pointed at Ding Rong, demanding an answer.
"Auntie, it’s Lin Nian who infuriated me. It’s his fault for not recognizing kindness!" Ding Rong pushed the blame entirely away, defending herself.
"You..." the woman took a deep breath.
"Tell me, what else have you done?" she demanded.
Her intuition told her that there was more to the story, certainly more than this single incident.
"There was also... Lin Nian’s daughter came looking for him; he actually pushed me aside for his daughter, didn’t even glance at me. In my anger, I swung a palm strike at Lin Nian’s daughter..."
"What?!" The woman was shocked. Lin Nian’s daughter was from the badlands; could she withstand a palm strike from Ding Rong?
"Ding Rong, you... you really are..."
"Auntie, she didn’t suffer any loss. My strike didn’t even hit her; somehow, it went awry like it had a will of its own and hit me instead," said Ding Rong.
That was exactly why she was so furious. She had been injured, bleeding, and yet Lin Nian hadn’t even invited her into his residence to recuperate; he’d shut the doors on her.
It was as if he was doing it to spite her.
"Sss, huff."
The woman finally exhaled the breath she had been holding in her chest.
As long as Lin Nian’s daughter wasn’t hurt, that was a relief.
