Chapter 1490: Chapter 1490: It seems... I can’t go back
Lianxinmai, ever since she had obtained the Golden Pearl Space, she knew about the existence of Lianxinmai, a place even the Golden Pearl Order could not reach, a place where she could be her own master.
Unfortunately, her abilities hadn’t been sufficient before, so she had never been able to enter Lianxinmai, the place that was uniquely hers.
But how had she been able to enter Lianxinmai after just one experience with the poison?
It was simply too unbelievable.
"Yes, Master, this is your Lianxinmai," Caique said to her. "Everything here, including me, belongs to you."
"Lianxinmai, this is actually Lianxinmai," Lin Caisang muttered softly, shaking her head in disbelief.
She had always thought she was still confined, so she never considered the possibility of leaving. Little did she know, this was already Lianxinmai, not the dark Boundless Prison—the Black Barrier—she found hard to forget.
"What’s your name?"
She looked at the Caique still flapping its wings and asked.
"I’m called Caique, Master. You can also just call me Queque," Caique replied, continuing to flap its wings.
"How did I come here, Queque?"
Lin Caisang gestured to herself, sweeping her arm around in a large circle, and asked Caique.
"Can I leave this place now?"
As she spoke, she took a deep breath, feeling the urge to leave and see what was outside.
Who knew...
No matter how much she wanted to leave, her body just wouldn’t move, as if it had taken root within Lianxinmai.
"Master, the ’lead’ poison in your body has not been completely cleared yet, so you cannot leave the Golden Pearl Space," Caique hurriedly interjected upon seeing her desire to leave.
"You were supposed to be in Boundless Prison, but because of your strong talent, after you learned countless pieces of knowledge, Lianxinmai successfully opened. Hence, Boundless Prison could not compete with Lianxinmai, and you ended up inside Lianxinmai.
This place is much better than that dreadful Boundless Prison, where you wouldn’t have to be forced by the Golden Pearl Order to learn those wicked pieces of knowledge and could comfortably lie in bed to recover.
Once you completely cleanse the residual poison from your body, you can leave."
Its voice, filled with excitement, rattled on in Lin Caisang’s ear. Having been confined for so long, it finally had the chance to emerge into the light and see its long-awaited Master; how could it not be thrilled?
But Lin Caisang just...
Could she say she’d rather stay in Boundless Prison?
Comfortably lying in bed made her acutely aware of the pain inflicted by the ’lead’ poison tormenting her body.
Whereas if she were in Boundless Prison, she could at least occupy her mind with some knowledge, preventing her from feeling bored.
"Can I go back?" she asked Caique, her voice tinged with melancholy.
"Ah?"
Caique looked puzzled by her question, almost forgetting to keep its wings flapping.
"Master, where do you want to go back to?" it asked tentatively.
"Back to Boundless Prison, where else?" Lin Caisang replied with an eye roll.
"Boundless Prison?"
Caique was speechless. Had its beak been movable, it might have twitched with disbelief.
To come out from such a ghostly place like Boundless Prison hardly seemed like an opportunity she would want to reverse, an idea that confounded it. What sort of reasoning was that?
"Master, it seems... we can’t go back," it said.
"Why?" Lin Caisang asked, puzzled.
If it was possible to come here, then surely it should be possible to go back, right? Why couldn’t they?
