Chapter 1439: Chapter 1439: Brains as Stupid as a Pig’s?
...
At Prince Yi’s Mansion.
Princess Consort Yi paced back and forth in Prince Yi’s study, her hands clasped in front of her, tightly wringing together.
"What should I do, what should I do?"
Her face was ashen, and she muttered nonstop, her appearance truly frightening.
"Can’t you be still for a moment?"
Prince Yi looked at her with a headache, set down the book in his hand, and asked.
"How could I possibly be still? The master’s envoy has arrived, he’s here!" Princess Consort Yi shouted at Prince Yi.
"If he knows that I botched the job, he’ll definitely chop me into pieces. By then, my lord, you won’t be able to escape it either. Think of something quickly; we can’t just sit here waiting for death!"
She didn’t want to die; she wanted to live for many more years. How could she just die like this?
"You—"
Listening to her, Prince Yi truly felt a surge of anger stuck in his throat, nearly suffocating him.
"Is pacing back and forth going to be of any use? With the way you’re looking right now, the moment they arrive, they’ll guess you’re guilty as sin. By then, without a word said, we’ll all be finished!"
With Princess Consort Yi’s current state, not to mention the master’s envoy, anyone with eyes could see her guilty conscience.
"I’ve already told you, be quiet, don’t be scared. With the way you’re behaving, you’ll be the one to doom everyone in Prince Yi’s Mansion!"
"I..."
Princess Consort Yi pursed her lips and said nothing further.
Turning her head to look at a chair nearby, she could only walk over to it sulkily and sit down.
"My lord, what should we do?" she asked.
"What else can we do? Haven’t we already agreed on a plan?" Prince Yi said irritably.
"But..."
Princess Consort Yi opened her mouth, but before she could ask her question, she heard a stranger’s voice ringing in her ear.
"What have you all agreed on, and what lies do you plan to feed me, hmm?"
As the words fell, a black-clothed figure was already standing before them. Princess Consort Yi was so frightened that she nearly tumbled off the chair.
"Master."
Seeing the newcomer, Prince Yi quickly stood up and knelt before him.
"How is it that upon seeing me, you forget the most basic of manners?" The man in black looked toward Princess Consort Yi, who sat foolishly motionless in the chair, his cold eyes flicking up as he asked.
"What are you still sitting there for?"
Prince Yi looked over and snapped at Princess Consort Yi in a lowered voice.
This fool, truly more trouble than she was worth, was the most idiotic woman he had ever seen. He couldn’t understand how she had managed to drag him down with her, with a mind as dim as a pig’s.
Only upon the reminders from the two did Princess Consort Yi come to her senses.
"This subordinate pays respect to the master."
Only then did she rise from the chair and kneel down before the man in black.
The man in black didn’t tell them to rise but instead stepped forward, walked over to the desk, and sat down.
"Well, are you ready with some excuse to satisfy me, hmm?"
He asked in a deep voice.
"No, master, you misunderstand,"
Princess Consort Yi said, her whole body trembling from fear, but she still resolutely shook her head.
"This subordinate had previously consulted Prince Yi about how to explain to the master the disappearance of Yin Baiqing. Prince Yi said we should just tell the truth. But given that Yin Baiqing’s disappearance was indeed my fault, I was worried and thus asked Prince Yi once more."
