Chapter 1438: Chapter 1438: Whether it is or isn’t, notify the master.

But reality was, how could Sui Zimo possibly listen to them? He would act in accordance with their wishes only to go in the opposite direction, infuriating them to the point of itching teeth, yet they were helpless against him.

Sometimes when thinking of Sui Zimo, there truly was an urge to chop his head off right away.

Yet, ironically, the master forbade killing him. And he himself, as the emperor of Wei State, couldn’t best a subject like Sui Zimo—what could he say?

"Hmm."

The man in black nodded.

"You just wait here, I shall return shortly."

He stood up, ready to leap away.

"Master, you... where are you going? Aren’t you going to deal with Sui Zimo?" The emperor, seeing him leave, quickly asked.

"Hmm?"

The man in black turned around, his icy gaze sweeping over him.

"Where I am going is not for you to question."

He naturally had to confirm whether what the emperor said was true or not. Did the emperor really think he would believe whatever he was told?

"Uh."

The emperor was choked by his words and quickly shook his head.

"No, no, master, you misunderstood. It’s not what I meant. It’s just... Sui Zimo is currently outside the city in a villa, it’s the best opportunity to act.

If we wait until he returns to Prince Mo’s Mansion, it will be much harder to move against him."

"That is no longer your concern."

The man in black huffed coldly at him and strode away.

Far outside the Imperial Study, Eunuch Gui had been standing guard.

After being personally ordered by the emperor to retreat to a distant place, he dared not leave, but he was puzzled. When had the emperor done such a thing before?

Oh, there had been such times.

But back then, he wasn’t a trusted person by the emperor’s side yet; he just listened to his boss and kept his distance, unable to inquire about anything at all.

And now...

"Could it be..."

He speculated—was the emperor meeting a very important person in the Imperial Study?

But who could be so important as to make the emperor send all of them away to wait so far off?

Could it be... the person from Illusion Continent whom his master instructed him to always keep an eye out for had finally shown up?

A light shone in his eyes at the thought.

"Whether it is or isn’t, notify the master."

After muttering this, he straightened his back, cleared his throat strongly, and looked at the eunuchs and maids not far behind him.

"You all keep watch here; I have some business to attend to and shall return shortly."

"Yes, Eunuch Gui," the eunuchs and maids responded.

"What’s going on? Where is Eunuch Gui going at this time? Isn’t he afraid that the emperor will look for him later?" A maid asked, watching Eunuch Gui’s receding figure.

"What do you know, everyone has their urgent needs. Even if we serve the emperor, aren’t we still human?"

A eunuch glanced at the maid disdainfully, speaking softly and seemingly well informed about Eunuch Gui’s affairs.

"Right, right," the others quickly agreed.

"Let’s just diligently stand guard. Eunuch Gui’s matters are not for us to discuss carelessly."

However, thinking about it made them feel indignant. Eunuch Cun, after all, had been just like them, a minor eunuch running errands in the Imperial Study.

But that man had a way with words and managed to squeeze out the manager eunuch, taking over the position for himself.

Yet, it couldn’t be denied, since Eunuch Gui became their superior, their workload had lightened significantly. They weren’t like when the previous eunuch was in charge, where a minor mistake meant they had to be on tenterhooks.
