Chapter 1212: Chapter 1212: Is Anyone Home?
She wanted to ask what exactly was going on with the Ya family, but after thinking it over, she kept her question to herself and remained silent.
"Granny, you’re overthinking it. How could anyone bully me? With Brother Molian around, he’ll look after me,"
Lin Caisang said with a smile.
Inwardly, she muttered to herself that it would be quite an achievement if she didn’t bully others—it was out of the question for anyone to bully her.
Hadn’t her granny seen how she beat up the National Teacher Suyang from Wei State until he was bruised all over? Who would dare to bully her? She was absolutely certain she’d let Blackie (the black panther) loose on them, and they wouldn’t even recognize their own parents after!
...
New Year’s Eve.
It was the most lively day of the year, and, of course, also the quietest. Not a single person could be seen on the village paths, as every household had closed their gates and made merry within their own homes.
And for the Lin Family, this year was exceptionally festive.
All of the Ya family had come to the Lin Family to celebrate the New Year, and since Ya Guman was all by himself, Lin Laogeng and his son Lin Baiyi decided to have Lin Changfeng invite him over, so they could celebrate together at the Lin Family.
They had to bring over the Ya family’s tables—only then did they have enough seating for everyone.
"Brother Molian, over here, over here, here’s your favorite crispy pork,"
As Ya Molian came from the kitchen into the hall, Lin Caisang called out to him, waving her arm excitedly, and a wide smile spread across his face as he walked over to her.
"Fried chicken strips."
He set the plate he was carrying down in front of Lin Caisang.
"Mmm, yeah, yeah."
Lin Caisang nodded repeatedly, pulling him to sit down.
"Hurry and sit. The dishes are going to get cold."
"Alright."
Ya Molian replied.
"This meal this year, we really are basking in Molian’s presence, with all these dishes made," Lin Laogeng, seated in his wheelchair, said with a smile while picking up dishes, looking at Ya Molian contentedly.
With Molian’s excellent cooking skills, he wouldn’t have to worry about Sangsang when she went out with him next year.
"Molian, Guman, start eating and try to finish these dishes..."
"Is anyone home?"
His sentence was cut short as a man’s voice came from outside the courtyard.
Everyone, baffled by the incoming voice, wondered who would be outside on New Year’s Eve.
At the Lin Family... everyone who was supposed to be there was present, only Lin Caihe was missing, who they guessed might not dare to return home for a few more years. But the voice outside belonged to a man.
"It might be someone just passing by. I’ll go take a look," Lu Qiubo stood up and addressed the others.
"Granny, I’ll come with you,"
Lin Caisang also promptly stood up. With a man outside, she couldn’t let her granny go alone.
"I’ll go with you two," Ya Molian added.
He couldn’t rest easy letting Sang’er go outside alone, not knowing who might be out there. He had already picked up that there wasn’t just one man outside; there were the sounds of other people breathing.
And just before that, he had heard the sound of a carriage.
His eyes glanced at Zhe Jue and the others, and seeing them put down their chopsticks, he then followed Lu Qiubo and Lin Caisang to the courtyard to open the gate.
"Who’s there, knocking at this late hour? This is..."
Lu Qiubo shouted outside as he and his granddaughter opened the courtyard door together.
On the road outside the courtyard, there was a carriage stopped, and beside the gate stood two people, a man—likely the one who had knocked—and an elderly nanny with white hair.
