Chapter 76: [Volume 1] Chapter 76- Guest?.

Esme slowly got down from the bed, glancing at the IV attached to her hand. Without hesitation, she pulled it out, wincing slightly as she did. Her gaze then shifted to Ray, sitting quietly in his wheelchair. Moving carefully, Esme bent down, picking up Ray.

A sharp pain coursed through her body, but she pushed through it, determined. After laying Ray back on the bed, he stirred slightly, turned over, and drifted back to sleep.

Esme sighed in relief, then gently adjusted all her brothers, ensuring they were comfortable before pulling the blanket over them. Her eyes landed on the AC, noticing it was set too low. She adjusted the temperature, making sure the room was warm enough, and then quietly exited.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw the servants going about their work. Her voice, hoarse from disuse, called out softly, "Where’s my phone?"

One of the servants quickly responded, lowering their head slightly in respect, "It’s been sent for repair, ma’am. It’ll be back soon."

Esme nodded, acknowledging the answer before making her way downstairs. Exhaustion weighed heavily on her, every step reminding her of how much her body hurt. Today had been too much.

Reaching the guest room, she slipped inside and headed straight for the bathroom. The warm water from the bath soothed her aching muscles, but her mind remained restless. She had let her guard down, thinking she was fine, and now she was paying for it.

Today was a painful reminder that danger was always lurking, even when she thought she could relax.

After her bath, Esme changed into a crisp white shirt and black pants, the simplicity of the outfit grounding her amidst the chaos swirling in her mind. Feeling a bit more composed, she made her way to the study rather than returning to her room.

Esme stepped into the study, quietly closing the door behind her. Her eyes gleamed as she scanned the room, a sharp glow of focus. She quickly spotted the four faint blue lines, each leading to small glowing dots.

She moved to the first dot under her table, carefully touching the spot. Her fingers found a small transmitter hidden there. Without hesitation, she moved to the bookshelf next. A decorative plant sat there, and with a swift motion, she removed it from the vase, revealing another transmitter. Esme continued, finding one behind a picture frame and the last hidden beneath the seat of the chair.

With all four transmitters now in her hand, she crushed them easily, letting the broken pieces fall to the floor. Her gaze shifted to the window, her eyes still glowing gold, though now darker and more intense. A smirk spread across her face.

"Now, it’s time to hunt and clean up," she whispered to herself, ready for what came next.

...

Ray slowly fluttered his eyes open, blinking as he tried to shake off the grogginess that clung to him. His head felt heavy, and for a moment, he couldn’t quite place where he was. He turned his head and saw Jay, still fast asleep beside him, his face peaceful. On his other side, Kai was also lying there, both of them undisturbed.

Ray sat up cautiously, his body still stiff from sleep. But then he noticed something strange—the IV drip had been pulled out, and the tube was lying haphazardly on the floor. He glanced around, his heart pounding slightly in the eerie stillness. The room was far too quiet, with no sign of Esme or anyone else.

Panic began to rise in his chest as his eyes darted around, searching for answers. But all he found was silence, broken only by the soft breathing of his brothers. His gaze eventually settled on the window, and what he saw made his breath hitch.

Outside, the sky had transformed into a deep, burning orange, the sun hovering low, close to the horizon. It was almost sunset. Ray’s eyes widened in shock. He had no idea how long they had been asleep, but it had clearly been hours—too many hours.

A knot formed in his stomach as he realized something was very wrong. Where was Esme? What had happened while they slept?

Ray shook as he felt the heaviness of sleep lift from him. "Guys, guys!" he urged, his voice urgent. Both Kay and Jay stirred awake, blinking away the remnants of slumber. Jay rubbed his eyes, his expression still dazed. "What happened, bro? Why are you waking us up so early?"

"Shut up and wake up!" Ray snapped, impatience bubbling beneath the surface. The tone of his voice cut through the haze, and Jay and Kay immediately sat up, their blankets slipping down to their laps. They exchanged confused glances, still trying to shake off sleep.

"Why are you—" Kay began, but his words faltered as they both took in the room. It was eerily silent, a quiet that felt heavier than usual. Esme always left for work quietly, but today there was something unsettling about the stillness.

Then they noticed: the sun was setting, casting long shadows across the floor. Panic flickered in Jay’s eyes as they looked around, taking in the empty space. The IV drip hung in the corner, a stark reminder of their recent struggles. Where was Esme?

"Guys..." Kay whispered, his voice trembling as realization dawned on him. "Where is she?"

A sudden knock interrupted the tense atmosphere. *Knock, knock.*

Ray and Kay exchanged wide-eyed looks, and Kay hurriedly moved closer to Ray, gripping his shoulders as if supporting him. "Yes, come in," Jay called out, trying to maintain a calm facade despite the uncertainty gnawing at him.

A servant entered, balancing three bowls of porridge on a tray. "Madam said to give you these. After you wake up, you might be hungry," she said, setting them down on the table with a gentle clink.

Ray and Kay’s stomachs growled at the sight, but their minds were elsewhere. "Where is E...Where is our wife?" they asked in unison, concern tightening their chests.
