Chapter 123: Chapter 123

Evelyn paced back and forth. Being stuck in the room was starting to get to her despite having the television to keep up with the outside world. She wanted a break so she could get away from the trouble Beth had caused but not a break like this. Why did she need to be trapped here if Dean wasn’t going to kill her?

Evelyn was ready to promise to stay away from Veronica and never approach her again for money. All she needed was for Dean to let her gather her things and the money she kept in a secret account over the years.

Was Henry looking for her?

This was all Evelyn needed to know from anyone. For all the years that they were married to each other, Evelyn would like to know that he wasn’t so caught up in dealing with Beth that he hadn’t noticed she was missing.

Beth put herself int hat position by drinking, driving and then being so stupid to leave the scene. Evelyn needed more of Henry’s attention since she had been taken from her home. She didn’t do this to herself.

Evelyn was only seeing a few reports about the crash on the news now since there was something else bigger that happened like a fire for the news to report on. The few reports she saw did not show Henry like they did before which meant he had to be home.

"He should check the cameras," Evelyn said, hoping he was smart to do so. "It might look like I ran and left with someone."

Evelyn couldn’t deny that she had packed a few things and was going to ditch the home for a few days but she was planning to come back once the matter with Beth got resolved and then if Henry didn’t have any part in what happened to Veronica.

Evelyn went to the window again and tried to lift it but it wouldn’t budge. The room was chill thanks to the air conditioner but Evelyn still didn’t like it. She needed to have fresh air and be moved to somewhere she could see when Dean was arriving.

She left the window and went to the door to bang on it. What happened to her being able to walk around? Evelyn needed to look around to get a chance to find a phone. The only person who could get her out of this was Veronica.

It was risky but if she could get to a phone and tell Veronica to come here to see her father then there was a small chance Evelyn could leave. What exactly has she done wrong recently for Veroncia to want her to be kept here?

Evelyn almost tripped when the door opened and a large man blocked her path. He was very angry but she ignored it since she was angry too. "He said I could walk around as long as I didn’t try to leave. I am bored."

’The door wasn’t locked. You could have stepped out when you wanted to."

Evelyn didn’t realise the door wasn’t locked. With the window how it was, she assumed the door was locked as well and didn’t try it. Was it possible that she could have snuck out of here had she not banged on the door so much?

"There are people all around so don’t try to do anything that will get you killed. We’ve been told to shoot at first sight of you trying to run and we all have guns," the stranger said, tapping the gun he had strapped to him.

"I’ve been married to Dean before. I know how you all are so please save me the lecture and get out of my way. I will need some food as well," Evelyn said, needing more than just a room. The least Dean could do was put everything she needed in the room.

They didn’t love each other but they were married at one point so Dean should treat her a little better than this.

Again, Evelyn disagreed with anyone saying that she did not treat Veronica well. She did the best that she could. So what if she took some money? Veronica was raised in a big home with a lot of fancy gifts. She wasn’t that bad of a mother for Dean to treat her like this especially when he was an absent parent.

"Get back inside. I will have food brought to you in an hour," the man said, pushing Evelyn back.

Evelyn refused to go back inside after being there for hours. It seemed like a light punishment but she didn’t enjoy being alone with nothing to do. "We just agreed that I can walk around. Now you want to send me back into this room I don’t want to be in. Let me speak to someone else."

"No. I know that look when someone is plotting and we don’t have time for you to do something stupid to get us in trouble. So, get back inside."

Evelyn wanted to keep putting up a fight but when he touched his gun, she gave up and stepped back inside the room. "At least tell me how Beth and Henry Harper are doing. I have a family I need to keep up with."

Evelyn didn’t like the smile she received. What didn’t she know?

"That woman isn’t released and your husband is busy dealing with his dealership. A few cars seem to be missing and a lot of the people he borrowed money from are after him.’

"Borrowed money? My husband never," Evelyn said, ready to call it a lie but she had to stop and think.

Henry wouldn’t have told her if he got loans for the dealership since she would have been against it. He had been pooling together all their money to buy a building instead of investing it back into the dealership which was the reason the Harpers had money in the first place.

Any loan Henry took should have been paid off by now since Liam took the building.

At the rate this was going with Henry needing to pay off the money he borrowed and they would need money to deal with Beth’s legal matters, there wasn’t going to be much left and then Evelyn would have to be the one providing the money from her account.

Instead of thinking about whether Henry was going to come to get her out of there, Evelyn thought of becoming close to Dean again just so he could lower his guard and allow her to get in contact with Veronica.

Veronica was the cause of all of this since her accident and looking for Dean brought him here so Veronica had to get her mother out.
