The Guide is Actually a Body-Switching Esper [BL]
Chapter 105: You Know My Daughter, Right?

Chapter 105: You Know My Daughter, Right?

Ugh.

Now that they - or rather Damien - were called, and Damien had heard it, there was no escaping. Even if Lane tried to pull Damien away, the owner of that cold voice had already approached them.

"Guild Leader Allen," Damien nodded at the man, greeting him politely.

"Mn," Miles returned the nod. "Are you leaving now? Your father is currently fighting at point G5, perhaps you might want to join him?" he asked.

Completely ignoring Lane. Well, of course, Lane wasn’t ’Lane’ at the moment... But honestly, that was for the best.

At the mention of his father, Damien’s shoulders tightened. "Thank you for letting me know. However, we have been on the scene for several hours now, and were about to go for a meal."

"Is that so? In such case..." Miles looked back, at Nyla who was conversing with some Guild members on the side. As their eyes locked, the woman instantly abandoned her companions, obediently approaching Miles. "You know my daughter Nyla, right? How about she accompany you? She wanted to go for dinner as well."

A tinge of hesitation flickered through Nyla’s grey eyes, but she still said, "Yes," like Miles wanted her to.

Lane couldn’t help but scoff. Of course. Some things never changed.

He was about to open his mouth and say something, but Damien beat him to it.

"Thank you, but I’m afraid I must refuse. We..." Damien paused for a second, his thoughts racing as he struggled to find a suitable excuse. "We were about to eat at my place, so it might be a bit inappropriate for Miss Nyla to join us."

Miles lifted his brows, glancing first at Damien before finally deigning to acknowledge Lane. "And who might this be?"

"My... An Esper from my team," Damien quickly cut the topic. He had no idea how to properly introduce Lane - a boyfriend? Lover? Friend? He wished for the first, but was afraid it might scare Lane off - but it wasn’t the time to think about it anyway. He couldn’t afford to leave even a moment of pause, lest Lane might join the conversation! And based on his interaction with Miles back in the Eldenveil, it wouldn’t end well... "Either way, I’m really sorry. Perhaps the next time."

"Hm." Miles cold gaze remained on Lane for a moment longer, before turning back to Nyla. It was obvious that Damien was just making an excuse, so he wanted his daughter to act...

And sure enough, well-trained Nyla got the clue, and stepped forward. "Team Leader Lennox, since we met by chance today, let me treat both of you to a meal. There’s a great restaurant not far from here..."

’Both?’ Miles shot Nyla a stern, cold look. ’You were supposed to only invite Damien Lennox!’

Nyla’s shoulders flinched, but she responded with an expression that clearly read, ’That’s the only way I have a chance to succeed.’

Of course, only Lane understood this exchange. Damien, not as familiar with the Allens, was just reluctantly glancing between the trio, struggling to decide. He didn’t want to be impolite and reject Miss Nyla when she personally extended the invitation, but he also didn’t want to make Lane uncomfortable...

Lane was no less reluctant. On one hand, he wanted to try Damien’s cooking - cause, since the man said they were going to eat at his place, then he would surely go through with it, right? - but on the other... He was curious about what new plan the Allens were cooking up to try and lure Damien into their Guild.

In the end, the second was more important at the moment, so he answered for Damien, "Since Miss Nyla is inviting, then we should accept the offer! What do you say, Team Leader?"

"Uh..." Damien met Lane’s eyes. The twinkle he saw in them was a bit worrying... Still, since that was what he wanted, then he had no reason to argue. "Then, thank you very much."

Miles’ grey eyes paused on Lane again. Lane knew, the man was currently memorizing his face, and would surely order a throughout research on him as soon as they left. And before long, he would most likely receive a lucrative offer...

Not that it mattered.

"Well then, shall we go?" He smiled widely at Nyla. Unnaturally so. "I’m starving!"

"Yes. Please get in, I will give us a lift," Nyla unlocked her white, fancy car, getting in at the driver’s seat.

"Okay! Goodbye, Guild Leader Allen!" Lane waved at Miles, earning himself a cold glare, and dragged Damien with him to the back, leaving the passenger seat empty. It was clearly not what Miles wanted, but there was nothing he could do about it - Damien showed no intention of moving, and it’s not like Miles could order him to - so he could only watch as the door closed, and the car left.

They drove out of the evacuated area, passing a good few more blocks shrouded in darkness - whoever could do so, escaped further away, just in case - until they finally reentered the lively Capital. Until Nyla parked the car next to a skyscraper, on top of which located was a luxurious restaurant, The Rose Terrace.

’Huh, they’re really going all out,’ Lane lifted his brows, glancing at Damien. The man, completely unaware of what was waiting for him, got out of the car, looking around. He still smelled of blood, and although the top of his uniform was clean, his pants were dirty and missing half of one leg... Lane looked no better, but unlike Damien, he was shameless, so he was unbothered even when he looked out of place.

Which he did, they both were. Damien quickly realized it as soon as they stepped into the building. Their steps echoed in the quiet, elegant marble reception hall, leaving dirt all over the pristine white floor. The place was literally dripping with wealth, with sculpted columns and gilded chandeliers... Damien fixed his collar - a collar of a spare uniform, a clothing seemingly coming from a completely different world than they were currently in - almost obsessively, as they waited for the elevator. And when it arrived and the door opened, and he saw his reflection in the mirrors inside...

"Miss Nyla... Perhaps we should choose a different place?" His face turned pale. The very obvious expensiveness of the place already scared him enough, and when combined with his messy attire...

"Oh, don’t worry, you look great!" Lane laughed, pushing the man in. "Very sexy," he then whispered straight to his ear, his breath brushing the man’s earlobe. The two hushed words were enough to send a shiver down Damien’s spine, making his face go from white like a sheet of paper, to red like a hot chilly pepper in a span of a second.

Nyla blinked a few times, staring at the two of them. Lane might have lowered his voice to a whisper, but she was still an A-rank Esper, standing just a few steps away from them. How could she not have heard?

But, she chose to ignore it. She cleared her throat, before saying, "Yes, please don’t worry about that. No one will mind," as she pressed the button taking them to the top floor.
