Chapter 104: Make It up for Today?

"I’m really sorry about that," Damien apologized to Lane as soon as his sisters were gone. "I should have defended you, but I didn’t want it to turn to an argument... We’re in the field hospital, after all, so we shouldn’t be too loud."

"Hmm." Lane tilted his head, staring at Damien, his eyes narrowed. Although he wasn’t bothered by it in the slightest... Shouldn’t he take advantage of the situation? "Yeah, you should have," he therefore nodded his head solemnly, "Since you didn’t, how are you going to make it up to me?"

"This..." Damien gulped, glancing at Lane, who had already managed to move back to the edge of the bed again. "Uh, well... How about... What you did to me before..."

"Hmm? What is it?" Lane shifted closer, a playful smile tugging on the corners of his lips, lifting them up, despite his efforts to maintain a straight face. Damien lowering his eyes bashfully, his whole face all flushed, was kind of adorable, so he couldn’t help himself. "What did I do to you before?"

"Back in the guiding room... When you... undressed me..." Damien’s muttering was growing more and more quiet, to the point it was barely audible. It was clear that he found it too embarrassing to talk about...

But Lane wasn’t so nice to let him off! Quite the opposite, he only wanted to make the man so embarrassed, that his brain would turn into mush from the heat! He leaned closer, his breath tickling Damien’s ear as he whispered, "Are you referring to when you ripped the couch?"

Damien’s brows furrowed, and he clenched his fists, the mattress creaking as he grasped onto it.

"Do you want to give me a blowjob as well?" Lane wasn’t giving up.

Taking a few shaky breaths, Damien lifted his head, meeting Lane’s gaze. "Yes."

"Huh." Lane blinked a few times, his own cheeks heating up a bit under Damien’s intense gaze. He was only teasing, but...

"Would that make it up for you for today?"

"Hmm." Lane’s eyes twitched, his smile faltering all of a sudden. Damien’s tone seemed so serious, so... business-like? that it rubbed him the wrong way. "Is that why you’re offering it? To apologize for your sisters?"

Although he was the one who wanted to take advantage of the situation at first, now that it came to it, he was feeling all sour and annoyed. Did he really have to beg for it just to be sucked? If so, that was just too frustrating! Which is why, when Damien opened his mouth to respond, Lane interrupted him before he could even say a word,

"Ah, forget it. Let’s not talk about this now." Grumbling and mumbling, he slid off the bed, "I’m going to check on the healers, be right back."

Having said that, he lifted the curtain and left, before Damien had a chance to stop him.

Left alone, Damien stared blankly at the curtain, beyond confused. He wanted to call Lane back, or even chase after him, but... Then what? He played along, because he thought that’s what the man wanted... But it seemed his guess was wrong? If so, he should deny it, say he didn’t mean it that way, and...

’And’ what?

Sighing heavily, he leaned back on the bed. Yes, he was reluctant to take a step forward. Firstly, because he was still afraid that Lane might break their ’deal’. After all, although they technically agreed on some conditions, Lane could easily disappear, and there would be nothing Damien could do about it. And secondly...

He was inexperienced. Completely inexperienced.

...What if his performance would be subpar, leaving the man so disappointed that he would no longer want to pursue anything with Damien?

But how was he supposed to explain it to Lane? ’Confidence was sexy’, or so he had heard. And Lane was always confident. The only time when Damien saw him anxious in any way was when it concerned his secret about his possession ability...

Would he consider it off-putting if Damien were to be too vulnerable around him? Although he had shown some weakness before, and yet the man was still there, but...

Should he just take a risk and go for it? But the last time Lane had said ’I look forward to your performance next time...’

When the curtain finally lifted again, Damien was still pondering over it, tossing back and forth in his mind. He raised his head, wanting to say something, anything...

But Lane wasn’t alone. Returning from his stroll, he grabbed one of the healers, dragging her with him back to Damien.

And so, Damien had no choice but to shut up and accept the treatment. There was no way he could discuss such an intimate topic in front of someone else, or even allude to it. He could only wait until the healer left.

"I’m sorry about earlier." To Damien’s surprise, Lane was the first to speak. And apologize, at that! "I was a bit cranky due to the lack of guiding. I found a Guide when I was away, so I’m all good now."

"About earlier..."

"Don’t worry about that!" Lane waved his hand dismissively, handing Damien some clothes. "I brought you a spare uniform, I think it should be around your size? Get dressed and let’s go grab some food, I’m starving!"

Damien took the clothes, glancing at the tag. Lane had a good eye - plus experience wearing clothes in all sorts of sizes - so he guessed just right. Well, since Lane brought it specially for him, Damien would have worn it even if it was too small... Even though he had his own spare uniform in his spatial bag. But, he didn’t mention any of it, only saying "Thank you," as he quickly put it on.

Of course, he still wanted to discuss the earlier subject... He couldn’t leave it like that for too long, lest Lane might think Damien didn’t desire him... But, having a bit more time to think about how to tackle the subject surely wouldn’t hurt? Especially since Lane himself seemed unwilling to talk about it now as well...

So, for now, he followed Lane in silence, as they walked out of the field hospital, only listening to the man rambling about what sort of restaurants were nearby that they could stop by...

Until all of a sudden, Lane went quiet, stopping dead in his tracks.

"Xavier?" Damien glanced at the man. Lane’s face was all dark, his brows furrowed, and his narrowed eyes twitching as he stared somewhere to the side. And when he touched Lane’s shoulder, he could feel it shaking lightly from how tense it was...

"Ah, sorry, I just realized that most of those restaurants might be closed due to the dungeon break!" Feeling Damien’s hand on his shoulder, Lane flinched, snapping out of it. He quickly fixed his expression, forcing a smile as he shifted his eyes away from the unpleasant sight to the handsome man next to him instead. "Maybe we should return to the center..." He tugged on Damien’s sleeve, wanting to drag the man away...

But it was too late, as from the left, a call reached them. "Mr. Lennox!"

A familiar, cold voice.
