Chapter 709: 11.03.2 I will save you all.
The meeting was eventful, to say the least. Fahna and her mother sat together, with their mother kindly taking care of her daughter’s hair while asking questions. A somewhat embarrassed Farhad stayed on the side, looking at them but not speaking much.
"Stop being so childish, you are not kids anymore." Spoke to the woman who was acting more childish with age. She even had developed taste buds like a child being choosy on what to eat and if It’s something bland and nutritional, her hatred of it is supreme. Farhad saw a new aspect of life that had been alien to him till now.
"I am not being childish, just worried." Farhad was the first one to speak in a monotone.
"She married a prince, just like she used to say when she was young." The mother smiled, rubbing her pregnant daughter’s hair, who did appear a bit embarrassed by these words, while Farhad, appeared surprised. Never had he expected his sister to once hold such childish dreams. Guess he was too young to remember what his sister was like in her youth.
"Mum, you know that’s not why I married him," Fahna spoke her voice cold, which her mother didn’t appreciate. "Whatever the reason, you are a Prince Consort now, and you shouldn’t speak ill of your prince. Your husband is a kind man." The discussion was very normal, not much was spoken of value between the two siblings, but how can they? It’s not right to air their grievances in the open when their old mother was so close by.
So the two entertained their mother for a bit. Talking about simple life and lies woven in between. Who said what truth no one knew.
Nor did the two siblings care. She just waited till a hint of tiredness was seen on their mother’s face. "Mum, please have some rest, I will be discussing some serious matters with Farhad," Fahna spoke, which did seem to irk her mother a bit.
"I know I have wasted enough time for both of you... but remember, no matter what happens, you are family, don’t be too cruel to each other once I am gone." Although appearing foolish, she was the wife of Varkus Maisel, her emotional quotient was probably the highest in the whole family due to her being a powerless mortal, which had made her develop a certain level of understanding of individuals.
Which is whether noticed the hint of anger between the two siblings.
"Don’t worry mum, we won’t fight like we used to."
"It’s not just fighting, even anger is bad for you currently. Remain happy, so the child will be born happy... you know, he can sense your emotions." With words of understanding, she left with her maids.
And with her disappearance, a spell was cast in the room, sealing all voices and information inside. "No one will be able to snoop in on us."
"Not of the grandmaster kind... but the legends in the city are still keeping an eye on me, more so than ever," Farhad spoke, turning his head toward the fifth district that held the core of Rudrain.
"Let them, privacy die the moment I married into this family." Though a bit surprised over this revelation, Fahna didn’t mind it much.
In her eyes, beings at the level of legends were truly legendary. Mostly stories and nothing more. So she didn’t understand what this meant or the danger it posed. Not like they will touch her, considering she carried the child of the Royal blood.
"The core issue is why you came here... even if you got the news of the child, you should have stayed away, that’s the best case of scenario for both of us." She chided him, she was annoyed by how easily he was dragged here. Inadvertently setting a precedence that Farhad still cared for his family, a sign that it can be used to people’s advantage.
They can use it to control him, just like he was before.
"I had to see it to confirm it with my own eyes, I never expected you would get married... more so to a Prince." He didn’t speak much, not about the private matters of Amir he was aware of, and his obsession with some other girl. His sister was already suffering so much, there was no need to complicate things.
Of course, even if he can’t speak of such details, he still had to say this.
"Your curiosity has been satiated I presume, so leave as fast as you can and don’t return for anything, it’s the best thing that can happen to both of us." This is why she was here. No more would she allow her brother to waste his time here, it’s better if he leaves as fast as he can.
But Farhad remained quiet. His mother at most had a decade to live, she can enjoy her grandchild in her advanced years, and that’s something to look forward to, maybe that grandchild will fill in the gaps that he will leave after going away?
One can hope for it. ’It’s hard.’ Farhad didn’t face his sister completely. He paused for a bit and said. "Mum is old, isn’t she?"
"Now you think of mother?" There was a hint of hatred in her voice. "Do you know how many nights she cried wondering what kind of life you were living?... "
"Circumstances asked for it, you know this better than anyone."
"Of course I know it, being threatened by that Clown for some disgusting reason... and at first I really felt bad about it, you know Farhad?" She spoke, without any remorse. "But then I hear, you go on to fight off a high number of Knights to save that very Jester... the monster that killed our father."
This kind of discussion had happened before, not about this topic specifically, but about the dichotomy. Morally and rationally, it would have been better for Jester to die on his own, but Farhad had to go and try to save that monster.
"Our Father, he was no saint," Farhad spoke, his mind already picking up multiple memories, which he forcefully suppressed.
"You... you disgust me, Farhad." Fahna held in her anger at this moment. She was pregnant, and getting angry would be harmful to the child. So she used ’Disgust’, a word that she wouldn’t have used normally for her brother.
"Sister... We will be repeating ourselves, let’s get back on the topic. You wish for me to leave, isn’t it?" Farhad asked, not intending to react to his sister’s words in any way. Her words had always hurt him before, which they did again, but like always, he suppressed them.
But like before, he still continued the dialogue, moving toward the main topic at that point.
"Leaving will be better for both of us."
Hearing such words, Farhad did agree, that the longer he stays here, the more ire he will accumulate of certain parties he is not on speaking terms with. But then again."I know... But I just wanted to be a bit selfish this time." A niece or nephew of his own, a mother who is going to die soon, and a brother-in-law who carried a fate that he didn’t know about.
’Why so much focus on him.’ That kind of oddity might go unnoticed by others, and even if some notice, they would consider it Amir’s talent and potential that made him such a shining star in the Royal bloodline.
But Farhad was different. His perspective on things is far more mature than he got credit for.
More so once he started to lead his new makeshift family.
"Selfish... you have always been selfish Farhad, so for the love of our family, don’t be this time." She spoke, wishing nothing more than to see her brother leave this place. Which did hurt Farhad a bit, but he understood her perspective.
’Not like I can leave so easily anymore.’ He kept certain things to himself.
"Ok, let’s just give me a few days more." So he lied, he would go away or so he let his sister think for now.
As for the Legends that were keeping an eye on him? Their domains have limits, and as long as he remains outside of it, but still close enough, they won’t be able to detect him. ’Wonderful plan.’
He had suspicions, that something odd was going on, something bizarre that would put the lives of his family in jeopardy in the future. ’Amir is probably the worst husband you can find.’ Jester had spoken a few words about Amir to him, his nature, and how he could be a pawn to something greater. ’Nothing good comes from staying close to him.’ It doesn’t matter what kind of person Amir was, it’s those around him that were the problem. ’As long as I have proof.’ Farhad watched as his sister left his mother’s house. ’I will save all three of you.’ The air around him trembled as if the reality itself melded to his will. But it was so small that it disappeared in a moment’s time.
