The God of Jesters -
Chapter 661 - 10.02.3 Oh, you understand me.
Chapter 661: 10.02.3 Oh, you understand me.
My words were dangerous, it would mean I had been in their vicinity when the potion was given, and in turn, it also meant that I didn’t have good intentions when I initially followed them. Which would be right, but it won’t matter much because the words I spoke did cause some disturbance in the face of the second in command, only noticed by me, or that man as well. But he kept quiet, still showing some disbelief followed by assurance giving to his men as he spoke.
"I don’t trust his words, but ignoring them at this point would be foolish on my end." He spoke, his eyes turning to his second in command, and saying. "Kokad, for now, we will leave this place and you will be under my gaze for the next day at most. After it, in case nothing really happens, after I am done dealing with this insect, I will be sure to give you a bonus." There was a kind smile on the man’s face, but I could feel his hatred.
That man, he understood from the little disturbance on his second in command’s face that I was right, my words held truth, and it wouldn’t be long before he killed this man.
But explaining it all on his hunch won’t do good for the morale of his crew, they need proof before making up their mind. For all the cruelty he generally showed, the machinations in the mind of this guy appeared countless, there is a reason why his men were able to listen to him.
"If you don’t mind." He spoke, looking at me, and all I could do was put myself in a defenseless position before he asked another question. "Transform into something smaller if you don’t want your bones and organs crushed.
My bad, it was not a question, but a warning as metals flew out of nowhere and formed up a cage around me. And as he spoke, this cage was truly small, causing pressure to build up in my body as my bones creaked.
But I didn’t complain, all of it was just a presentation and nothing more. For now, he had brought my words while encasing me in this cage. As for his second in command, he appeared calm and spoke simple words of encouragement to his other crew members, showing that he was not worried at all. While I just looked from the side, my body was too compressed to even breathe in and speak. Though this was all that was needed. "You will beg for death once you are proven wrong." His mouth spoke, though I knew he was just scaring me for nothing. But I still had to play my part, so I showed a hint of fear and confidence in one look, showing that I didn’t lie.
Well, that was it. It wasn’t long before the ship sailed away and the heartbeat of the second in command increased.
For the next whole day, the situation on the ship was heavy, no one knew who was speaking the truth or who was lying, but as it is with humans, they would generally side with the evil they know instead of the one they don’t. In their eyes, their companion was more trustworthy than the random old me. Who was now caged for their entertainment?
Oh so wondrous it was, the laughter of the one couple who can have some light on their faces while others were worried if my words were really true, or something worse. Was there anyone else tracking them besides me? Well, their mystic and mages had done their best to ensure that there wasn’t anything, while their captain had sent out small iron projectiles all around the places, which made me wonder what sort of ability this man possessed.
Metal control? If so, why did he use so little?
I am getting distracted a bit. Let’s focus on something else, something a bit further from me and us.
******
It’s the place that I left a few hours ago. There, there was a small group of ships, each small but appearing far more advanced than the one my true body left on.
Coming from different directions, it was obvious they had not been together since the start, but they all ended up in the same place.
One wonders why.
And that one didn’t have to wonder for too long as a figure in bold red dress and dark hair stepped foot on the deck of one of the boats and looked around. "Nothing." He spoke, appearing a bit disappointed.
"The ignorant dog had left the scene... did he smell something?" The man wondered, curious for a bit, before shaking his head. "Impossible." He shook his head after some contemplation.
Wajih might be smart and hidden while keeping an eye on his enemies, but there was obviously a limit to which he could achieve his secrecy.
From the second year onwards since Wajih started to keep track of the enemy family, they had been aware of his existence and found him funny somewhat. Just a fool that had been dreaming of the impossible. Probably one of the families that were annihilated by them. As for which? They had even forgotten the count.
So they had left him alone, hoping to use the fool in the future to fight for them after hiring him from the proxy. How funny it would be once he knew that he had been helping his enemies all this while.
And when he indeed finds out, he will be killed, that was the intention originally.
But due to some error and the chaos in the seas with Quatpol’s disappearance, the family had forgotten about him for a bit, and in the absence of their gaze, Wajih grew from a simple mercenary to a true threat as his strength grew greater and greater.
And once they actually started to care about him, fearing what he was capable of, they went ahead and looked deeper into their records over who might this person be. But the answer they got was somewhat surprising. "Nothing?’ There were no records of a person with such specific talent.
Which made them curious about his background, should they ask the leader? No, they refused. They can’t do something like this, so they have to handle this matter on their own.
But they couldn’t be too obvious, or the enemy might not walk into their trap. It was a mistake caused by their forgetfulness, so they had to handle this matter on their own without causing disturbance in the rest of the family.
This is why a certain amount of family members who were not so talented were sent out to gauge his nature, his anger, and the hatred he might carry for their family.
And the result? Well, it was immense. Some of them even felt regretful for letting their family members experience such extreme cruelty at the hands of that monster.
"The seas are turbulent recently... an opportunity if I say." And it was around this time that the Immortal Serpent appeared. Which did attract the eyes of the men in the family.
But it was never the serpent that they were interested in. "It’s chaotic, we might as well be able to enter it... "
"Foolish brother... if our father can do it, it doesn’t mean you are capable of the same feats, one mistake and you will never be able to open your eyes again."
"Ajehar, do you wish to be in your father’s shadow forever? Look at you... at this point you look older than our father, it won’t be long before you die and are forgotten, come with me, this might be the only chance we have."
"My limits you had been aware of it since the start, I was never meant for this arduous life, I prefer to keep the register clean. So leave me out or better yet, just practice in here, no need to put your life in danger for a chance that might not ever come your way."
Their family might be a cruel one filled with bloodshed, but the main family directly originated from their patriarch, they were close and cared for each other a lot, a rarity among families of their stature.
"If that’s your choice... then I need to go even more, who knows, I might find a way to extend your life." After a bit of playful banter and an understanding that he won’t be able to change the mind of the youngest. The older brother named Ajehar nodded and spoke. "Well, if you are going out... you can get rid of the trouble that had been brewing in the north."
"I am going to the seas, not the mainland."
"That trouble will come to the seas, I will make sure of that."
That was how the two brothers came to an understanding and how the rest of the plan was built. This was meant to come to fruition once their target obtains some extra product from the serpent, which they will gladly take once they come to take him down.
But what to do in case he was not here?
Of course, the answer was to leave. "Failed, can try again later." These were the thoughts of the Third Son, who didn’t seem much bothered by this loss.
Accidents happen in plans all the time, more so when the plan is established in enemy territory filled with chaos. At least this showed that there was no trap at play here, aka, the enemy still remained in ignorance to a certain level.
