Chapter 629: 9.17.2 Going to sleep.

The night died fighting?

These words felt familiar to Remira in her memories. However, as soon as the old man spoke these parts, she instantly forgot the information she gained and focused on things that mattered more to her.

"What spawn? Isn’t he a wraith? Mutated and elevated to higher levels due to the freedom it had?" She asked, curious about this odd "nightmare" that Malidi had just spoken about.

Nightmares were not alien to her. Everyone in their life once suffered from nightmares, dark dreams induced due to some discomfort, bad memories, health, or even trauma. It’s nothing odd, nor special for a world where conflict and monsters are everywhere.

But, isn’t this just the one created by her mind? A certain response that she couldn’t articulate properly due to her limited knowledge, but she didn’t think it was some alien being that was doing such a thing.

"Wraith... ignorant ones." At the mention of Jester being a Wraith, Malidi just laughed. "If he was a wraith, then I am a God." With those words, his eyes turned back to the table where the images of people still kept playing. "Now-now, if you got your answer, leave me be."

"I never did, I wish to ask for a way to end him." She spoke again. It didn’t matter if Jester was a nightmare, for she didn’t even know why it would matter at all. She had harmed him before, there is a reason that coward hides from the sun and barely shows his face in reality.

Jester is a being without a body, the only reason he can survive is due to his countless clones and derivates that he had spread far and wide to the world, making it much harder to manage or even deal with an entity of this kind.

If only there was a way to completely annihilate him from this world, how good it would have been?

"The ignorant hold no fear." At Remira’s repeated question, Malidi gave her a deep look. "Two ways to end him... the physical method, the core still remains that of a wraith, sacrificing it to the altar of the night would suppress his nightmare nature, making it possible to end him if you destroyed his core," Malidi explained, giving Remira a deep look.

Wraiths are fallen souls that abandoned the chance to reincarnate due to their intense emotions. Making them haunt the ground where they fell. And generally, these minds are mindless, barely operating on old instincts and sometimes repeating the things they did whence alive. However once coming across the living, these very wraiths will try to feed on the living to strengthen themselves and become aggressive the more they drink on the living’s spirit as well as the body.

Though the way to deal with them is easy. The Knights of any church, have their purification methods. But if you aren’t one, the other method is to find the remains of those who died, or even look for the item that once held strong memories for the wraith. It’s generally those things that act as anchors for the wraith to the material world.

Which once destroyed would also mean the end of the wraith.

"This method... This could work?" Remira wondered. She had known about this but never bothered to use it due to most of her work being easily done with the Flames of Devotion, though the other reason she can’t do it is due to the fact that she doesn’t know where Jester’s remains are.

For a being who can move anywhere he wants without limits, it’s easy to see that he didn’t have a need for such anchors. Or if he does, it’s carefully hidden far away.

However, her ideas and contemplations came to a halt after Malidi said some words that she had a hard time understanding. "No, of course not... the wraith you call Jester, he is not of this world, a forlorn soul that entered these lands a long time ago... his remains are impossible to be found." There is no need for Malidi to keep any secrets.

In Malidi’s eyes, this secret was not so big anyway. "What do you mean not for this world?’ She wanted more explanation, though all Remira got in return was a deep look that seemed to call her a fool before diverting back to the scenes on the table.

While Remira, calmed down after a bit, she got the signal, that she was being a nuisance. But in a way, she didn’t mind being one considering how much she had learned.

’Not of this world.’ It was then Remira recalled the early days in Durum, how Maxim discovered Sanskrit, a language from the world of mortals on the other side of the veil. A language that had spread to certain parts of their world as well, but only among certain scholars who studied it out of curiosity in order to understand any use for the language.

So although rare with few even being aware of its existence, the Order of Radiants, as well as the Churches with their long history, they had information on multiple languages from the other side of the veil.

’Sanskrit.... He really came from the other side. And not in body.’ Vekantaraman, the last publicized mortal from the other side who could step foot in this magical world of theirs came with a whole body. So it’s a surprise that even a soul, or a wraith in this case could come here as well.

’Well, this is troublesome.’ The small dialog she had now taught Remira many things about the world and even exposed her to the secret of Jester.

Who would have thought that this monster didn’t even belong to their world, but came from the other side of the veil?

It’s so bizarre if one thinks about it.

"What is the other method? You spoke about there being multiple methods didn’t you?" Remira asked again, looking at Malidi with burning eyes.

And they did burn this time, as Remira’s emotions with all this information strengthened her resolve further. ’This man, he has the answers.’ It was odd that Malidi easily shared all the information he had on Jester so easily during his small break. But then again, from what Sheva had told her, this Malidi was a neutral party that loved to spread his knowledge.

Sadly few had the strength to handle the knowledge he generally shared, causing casualties and corruption wherever he went, which did put him on the church’s Radar.

But once he is not doing such bad things, Malidi is a nerd at heart, he loves to talk about what he knows and even spread the knowledge he has at hand to anyone who comes seeking it from him.

Well, that is, as long as they don’t disturb his studies. This is how Remira easily learned so many secrets about Jester with just small talk.

And then, she learned some more. "Not multiple, but two.... " Malidi corrected Remria, before saying. "The second is far easier and possible. Find a nightmare creature, enslave it, and let it lose on Jester... let the two children fight, let them devour each other." As Malidi spoke these words, he looked at Remira. "Or ask him for it... the fallen daemon of nightma..." Before Malidi can finish his words, Remira suddenly falls to the ground, losing consciousness.

"Ho... what is this?" Which finally earned Malidi’s interest.

The words he spoke, were the secrets of the world banned by gods, secrets not meant for mortal ears. But so was a good deal of other information that he kept uttering non-stop, and among the many ones he did, the weight of the words before was far higher than the fact about the Daemon of Nightmares.

Then why? Why would Remira fall all of a sudden? It’s as if her brain went into forceful shutdown, fearing the words that Malidi spoke. Or was it something else? Something that didn’t wish for Remira to learn of "his" existence?

"Everything is connected..." He looked at Remira again, before turning his head to the table and then toward the garden in front of him.

It didn’t take long before a door opened and Farhad walked into this so-called end of his journey along with his friends. An unexpected timing to say the least, for Farhad witnessed Remira falling into sleep the moment he stepped here. Which appeared in his eyes as if she was attacked.

"Hmm." But he didn’t move, nor made any possibly stupid moves. His eyes were enough to tell that everything was fine with Remira. There were no injuries or any signs of fighting, but then again, why did Remira fall down so easily?

Well, whatever the reason, he needs to take the following steps carefully: "She has fallen." Of course, Rosso was not like Farhad. The moment he saw her defenseless, his body moved like a blur, his intentions clear to all.
