Chapter 617: 9.14.4 Stop you fool.
The duo walked, searching for a path forward, which was not hard when Knight Alabasta completely focused on his divination, while Vance dealt with the scenarios as they came his way.
The majority of scenarios or worlds he encountered rarely featured truly powerful figures. Events would appear as small-town mishaps or accidents, and in general, they were not that hard to solve with the strength this particular group of visitors possessed.
But Vance didn’t put his guard down just for that, he knew better than anyone that this world, had consumed so many before. There is a reason why the internal matters of this zone were still alien to him. Not to mention, he thought that even if he, as well as his master, obtained the support of the current leader of the Brihma Chapter of the Radiant order, they wouldn’t gain any details from the archives.
So there must be a reason, something so dangerous that he can’t even fathom for the moment. ’Follow the rules.’ Vance kept moving, coming across all kinds of stories from love to betrayal and even patricide.
This made Vance’s mood a bit sadder when he was forced to detain the boy who killed his own father, even though the boy had all the reasons to take such a step. But then again, this is all fake, a maze of memories. Vance didn’t know what significance they held in the real world.
So he kept moving, unaware that there were already some individuals that were honing in on their target.
Gael the dwarf from the Baster Bear tribe followed the Lynx clan as they stepped closer and closer to their target. "This is the seventieth world, from what the Great Guardian told us, on the seventy-second world there might be some changes." The information at their hand was far more advanced than one might expect.
They were not only given artifacts but even knowledge of the old dragons to deal with this odd world, among which was the number seventy two that held a huge significance to them, that is, if they walked the right path.
As for what path it was? Well, the majority of it was dictated by the sensors installed on the armor of Arbood, which had a small compass built using a white dragon scale, which showed the right path to Arbood half the time.
’Seventy seconds will be the time we can confirm if we are on the right path or not.’ There might be some mistakes, a slight chance of error that might send his group on the false path. But even if that path is false, as long as they have allowed the compass, it won’t be long before they find their target.
"Killer is found, I have obtained the ticket." Spoke the only young one among this group of old dwarves that had one of their legs in the grave already.
His being sent here was a topic of contention among the Lynx Clan, but the family head as well as him had ordered for this boy to leave for the zone no matter what.
Their reason? Arbood didn’t know why his nephew would send his only son to his doom, but there ought to be some measure done on his nephew’s end to make sure that the future of the Lynx clan doesn’t die.
As for what it was? Arbood hoped to never learn about it.
"Great, the one after it will be the needed confirmation." Arbood took the token, a simple leaf with a single word on it, and then while being connected to the rope, he touched a new corpse he had long found since long ago. A corpse that was hanging from the trees.
It was the corpse of the child.
"It’s a disease-ridden place, remember to put the filters on overdrive." from the boy’s body alone, they can see the state of the next world might be going through a plague of some kind.
"So be ready."
*****
"Diseases?" It’s been a few minutes since Rosso arrived in this world. Even hidden inside his curse, Rosso looked down below, finding that the state of things was not so good for this particular village.
"Fascinating, the cries down below... they shouldn’t burn the living like that." Spoke the little rat in Rosso’s head. "The misery begets curses... and flames are the easiest way to deal with them. If the people below waited for the infected to die off one by one, their accumulated misery might create something far worse." Rosso explained on his end. The current Jester was a foolish little rat that never understood this world, nor did he understand what a curse was, and its ramifications.
"This is a world filled with so much wonder, but they still lack simple cures for these diseases. Not even curses?... I wonder if this is a game for someone, a wonderful game where they are just enjoying this misery." The words that Jester spoke did intrigue Rosso a bit, who couldn’t help but ask Jester to Clarify.
"The world of mortals where I come from, they with their knowledge had long started to delve into the micro-universe that makes up the very world. Finding cures for the pathogens and diseases that were previously considered uncurable.
All of that through mortal means... while this world, holds magic. So why, why are these people suffering when miracles are not lies in this world, but can be turned into reality on the whim of the powerful?"
"This." Rosso hearing these words was rendered speechless.
Why? Why not save the mortals when you had power? Ignoring the curses that are too annoying to deal with, when talking about the realm of diseases, for the truly powerful ones, they can easily find a way to cure it as long as they will it. So why does Rosso never see anything like this world, even in the present day?
’Something or someone wants this misery to continue.’ He recalled Jester’s previous words, before looking at the rat again.
Even though Jester was still a foolish young man, his insight into things and the talent to adapt to the new state of things was absurd.
’Well, that goes to show the difference between us.’ Rosso recalled the first few years when he had to adapt to his talents and knowledge that was forcefully fed into his brain.
"I am still young for this world, still have lots to explore. Hopefully, I find the answer to it someday." Rosso had been busy, he was so busy that he barely had the time to stop and contemplate such questions. But it didn’t mean he would remain this way forever. "Once we save your true body, I hope to explore this world on my own accord." This was a small dream that Rosso had planned for himself.
Not to mention, there was that girl that he met in Rudrain, the one who worked for Team Two of the Cult of Jesters. She should be free as well.
"Dreams... they are fun aren’t they?" The little rat asked in a tone that sounded melancholic. A tone that didn’t seem to be seeking any response. But in his ignorance, Rosso nodded. "They are."
After which, he spread his arm wide while taking out the dagger that he had kept with himself. "I will begin." With those words, a small blood rain fell onto the village, followed by cries of young and old, including those that were not infected.
"Let the flowers bloom." He spoke, as one by one, the heads of the mortals exploded into a giant flower, that released more spores into the air, carrying Rosso’s virus to the closer villages where some plague Knights were stationed.
It was also at this time that a hole opened into the sky and Farhad came crashing out. His body was covered in mutations while his arm turned into a bone sickle, that targeted Rosso’s figure in the air. "Stop it you fool," Farhad shouted, his anger through the roof.
One world was ruined, and now he was on a timer. He can’t let the same happen here.
"Your bloodthirst is back?" Rosso appeared a bit surprised by Farhad’s sudden attack, but with a simple sad gaze, his body disappeared into the void, leaving Farhad stumped.
"I will kill, I will sacrifice, and I will keep moving forward. Follow me if you wish." Rosso spoke, not intending to put up any fight with Farhad. Not like he had any hope of succeeding, for Farhad was probably among the strongest under the Legendary ranks.
This was a bit frustrating as Rosso considered himself to be the better creation of his Master, but strength was not everything in this world.
Just look at Farhad, with all his strength, he still couldn’t do a thing to Rosso at this moment. That’s the power of Isolation that he won’t ever be able to break.
Well, that’s what Rosso thought."That way?" Before his words left Farhad’s lips, his body had already moved and a thin spine-like spindle was fired from his hand, directly penetrating Rosso’s shoulder.
"Not again." He cursed.
