Chapter 615: 9.14.2 No right answer.

There she went, with her sword in her hands and a blaze following her gait, it didn’t take long for her to annihilate the first of the Knights who were going to burn the villagers alive. "You... a Radiant." Spoke the captain of the dusk knights, taking out his spear and aiming at the spy that had entered their midst.

"I knew something was wrong with you..." Dusk Knights, were beings that did the dirty deeds for the Church of Red Sun, though the bloodline that flowed in them was pretty much the same as the Dawn Knights. However, the way that the bloodline showed his strength was far different.

And this was the first time Remira was going to face a Dusk Knight, who like a mage summoned countless flame spirits that rushed towards Remira. "Rise my men, I won’t let you go down without fighting back." Once Remira was occupied with the flame spirits that appeared to be immortal, the fire from the spirits fell onto the bodies of those who fell by Remira, igniting their bodies and turning them into men made of cinders.

’Infernal.’ Remira knew these beings, she had heard about them and also knew why the Church of Red Sun was considered so annoying.

The Dawn Knights, are virtually immortal, their bodies are made up of immortal flames and they can regenerate from a single cinder. The Dusk knights, who carry the same bloodline focused on cultivating their own immortal army, beings that will revive endlessly until the source of the fire is not dealt with.

Both have their specialties, and both dabble with the realm of death in some ways, which went with the domain of the sun.

But Remira, seeing these beings and the scared faces of the Villagers running to hide from the fight, asked, "Why harm the innocents?" These people, these Knights, were nothing to her. Even if this team captain had the strength of a Grandmaster, he was no Dawn Knight, so killing him wouldn’t be an issue on her end.

This is why she wanted to know the reason why go to this extent to kill these heretics, whose only mistake was not worshiping the right deity. Which sounded absurd, no way people can be this cruel, this one note and so radical. This was inhumane on so many levels.

"I have no words for a heretic of the Radiant Knightage. Your kind has only brought more confusion to our city and now you are here, harming our operations." Though the Knight Captain held no interest in Remira’s question, it also saw her as an enemy, which forced Remira to make a move.

"I just wanted to understand you more." Her experience with Jester had taught her that what appears on the surface is not always true. Actions that sometimes seem cruel would be made for the greater good, and mistakes she considers small might have unprecedented results. She had learned this the hard way in Rudrain.

This is why she wanted to know the reason why these non-believers were being killed, that’s where her effort to learn the situation came from. But then again, this is not real, if the opponent refuses to explain, then she won’t force it.

With those thoughts, she made her move, unlike before, Remira now summoned her flames of Devotion and started fighting the burning spirits as well as Infernals that appeared to be immortal.

Which did succeed in occupying her for a total of seven seconds, before their bodies were separated into pieces under the startled look of their captain. Who suddenly found a sword that directly penetrated his skull.

"I gave you the chance to explain your side.’ She spoke, dashing toward the figure that tried to dislodge the sword stuck in its head, which Remira grabbed without much of an issue, and then dragged it toward the ground, slicing the Knight captain in half.

Which did stop his movements, and before long, his body slowly lost all its strength as a red fire slowly consumed it, along with the regenerating the spirits as well as Infernals that turned to ash in front of Remira.

"I... let’s find an alternative, this world shouldn’t be so one note," Remira spoke, turning around only to see countless villagers looking at her with fear. "I mean you no harm." She spoke, looking toward what remains of the Dusk Knights. "And I suggest everyone here runs away from here, they will come again, and they will be crueler than last time." She knows zealots well, and how they utilize fear to their advantage. For some reason, the modern-day’s biggest religion was also conducting itself as such. Which somewhat explains their size in the modern day.

When the villagers heard her words, grumbled and some started to leave, not daring to approach Remira. Too much had happened and some of them had already lost a family member, causing them to grieve in pain.

Including the village chief’s wife, who stood in the distance in silence while holding her husband’s head.

"But where should we go?" They grumbled and then started to do as they were told, getting their things ready and leaving this place.

But it was at this moment, that Remira saw the boy who had begged her to save him. The very boy that made her destroy the fastest way to deal with this scenario.

"Thank you si... lady." Spoke the boy bowing down.

"Would you still thank me that I had the power to save your mother, but I didn’t?" She wondered, looking at the boy who had just lost his mother, a mother who could have been saved if Remira made her move earlier.

"I... I do wonder this." The boy spoke after some confusion, before turning to look at Remira with a bright face. "But I still remain thankful, due to you, many of my family still remain alive." Spoke the boy, whose bright eyes did make Remira pause for a bit.

’I really sometimes forget why I chose this path.’ She hunched to the boy’s level and then asked. "What is your name?" She wondered, wanting to keep his name in her head for the future because he did teach her a valuable lesson.

"I don’t have one yet, but my family calls me Birdy." It was common for most villagers to not have a true name until adulthood, so it wasn’t odd that this boy didn’t have one yet.

"Then how about I give you a name?" She asked, thinking of gifting this boy a name of his own. Which made the smile on the boy’s face brighter. "It would be my biggest honor."

"Azad," she proposed her voice soft yet filled with conviction. "They call you Birdy, don’t they? Always soaring high, free as a bird... what do you think of Azad? It means ’free’, you know."

Her eyes held a warmth that seemed to reach into his soul. "Don’t ever lose hope, Birdy," she continued, her voice laced with encouragement. "Keep that smile on your face, and remember, your freedom is out there, waiting for you, just like it is for every bird."

"Azad... I love this name." The boy said. "I will be Azad, and I will lead everyone here to freedom." Said the boy proudly beating his chest, that did make Remira a bit emotional. "I am glad you liked it."

Then she got up, intending to leave. As for these villagers, who knows how many will survive this journey that remains in front of them? The most she can do is watch them from the side.

As for following them? This fake world was not worth it, not when she had to move to the next one as fast as possible. For now, she has to look for alternative routes in this scenario, this can’t be the end, is it?

"Lady Knight, please wait..." The boy spoke, making Remira turn her head again. "Since you gave me a wonderful name. I also want to give you something." Spoke Azad, before taking out a small crow head locket from his neck. "This was the first ever prey I hunted... please take it." Spoke the boy, handing Remira the crow head necklace that suddenly made Remira aware of its true value.

’Was this the right path since the start?’ She wondered before suddenly seeing the folly of her ways. ’I guess, following orders of your superiors is not always the right path to take.’ She didn’t know if this was the answer to the whole scenario, or if she would get an exit ticket even if she did remain on the side of the Dusk Knights.

"I will keep it with me forever." She spoke, putting the locket on the neck. "Now go, and be free." These were her final words before leaving this village. However she didn’t walk too far after coming out of it, as she found a curious corpse that floated in the middle of the field. ’You will be the one.’ She spoke putting her hands on the corpse that sent her to a new world.
