Chapter 571: 9.05.3 The immortal serpent.

Rosso chose to spare the captain and the voodoo practitioner whose name he later learned to be Rodo.

And it was not mercy that made him spare the Voodoo practitioner, it was curiosity.

Voodoo is such a bizarre path that can incorporate curses and magic together. Two different energies would usually collide and destroy each other if they exist in a singular body. But Voodoo Practitioners, are somehow able to influence the curse energies around them using the magic in their body.

Of course, they use countless materials and even souls of the death for this job, but the fact that they had been able to achieve what many mages can’t, It’s something to behold.’ Of course, there is a reason why the majority of magic practitioners fail at it.’

Although this man looked old, Rosso understood that he might not even be very fifty years of age, an age considered pretty young for a Master Level existence in any path. His own body was also feeble and weak, even unable to face the might of Dragon’s aura, causing him to lose consciousness, while the voodoo warriors that he had created remained conscious and experienced the death Rosso gave them personally.

No wonder no Mage dares to practice or even mimic the techniques of a Voodoo practitioner. But Rosso also felt that he was a bit different. Instead of using magic to utilize the curse energies, he planned to use the curse energies to accomplish something in magic.

Or so he had hoped.

The voodoo practitioner would stay alive as long as he provided Rosso all his knowledge, after it. There is no after, as Rosso planned to give him death just like he had done so to the others on the island before.

If he really spared this man named Rodo and Loovo, the captain of these pirates, then it would be unfair to all those that Rosso devoured not too long ago.

"What wonderful riches. But wouldn’t keep it all here useless? The money doesn’t show its value until you invest and use it..." Rosso spoke while turning toward the old pirate who had recovered some of his strength and was capable of running away. But he didn’t dare to do such a thing.

In his body, there was a huge amount of Rosso’s curse blood forming globules around his body, which are under Rosso’s control. With a thought, he can kill the captain without a single bit of effort.

"We do visit the towns in disguise to use up these riches, it’s how the village sustained itself."

"Then the ships ought to be different, or you might be noticed from far away."

"Those ships are not huge, and even if we wanted to, carrying too much is a straight giveaway, so we only took what was needed." The intention behind these words was obvious. The captain was suggesting bringing all the riches in this pile comprised of not only gold but even some heavenly riches like the magical ores or dried-up magical herbs.

With this much money and gold, Rosso could already imagine what this captain on the side had been planning all this while. "There should be another pile beside this one... isn’t there?" Rosso’s eyes can see deep into the mountains and considering how close he was to the vault at the moment, he did notice an equally smaller vault.

He noticed because of the energy the vault exuded. "I... I don’t... " Before the captain could deny it, his face turned pale while one of his arms started to fracture, causing a small blood flower to grow out of it. "Sir... please spare."

"Open it, we don’t have much time," Rosso ordered, not showing much remorse for this man. And to make sure that this old captain didn’t drag him further, Rosso pointed toward the direction of the hidden vault.

"Sir, I really do mean... That.. we keep dangerous things there... corrupted, relics.. Of lost>’ He spoke before Rosso finally understood the reasoning behind the captain’s action. "Good then, it’s a good harvest on my end."

There was little difference between pirates and adventurers during these days, and Rosso also understood that this Captain of the Pirates might have been an adventurer at one point in his life. So it’s no wonder that they would come across some odd things while looting.

Which might be dangerous for others, but for Rosso, those items might be the true treasure of this whole ordeal. ’I should raid a few more of these pirates, once I am done with saving Creator.’

Rosso thought, looking deeply into the vault that the captain slowly opened.

Exposing him to a curse energy that the Captain turned around and hid from. But Rosso, after the initial blindness, came across a room filled with cages built of bones and a bunch of dried-up corpses on the side.

The answer to it was also obvious, it was these people that were forced to carry these items into the vault, and even with all the seals, the remnant energies from the items had long mutated and killed the victims.

And they were corrupted. There were some whose flesh had mutated, some with weird bone structures, and some. "This one’s alive." There was this interesting specimen. A person melted over the floor, his flesh growing like algae, spreading further around the room, giving the whole room a velvet color and texture. "My body, it feels odd." The room had many items in it, all sealed using spirits of the dead and magic.

Obviously the handicraft of the Rodo. But unlike the proper seals that any mage is capable of, or the perfect seals of exorcist. The state of this place, how to say it. Horrendous.

It barely contained the corrective energies, and by keeping them all together in a singular place, these energies have overlapped and turned into something far more potent when they were on their own. ’Such a foolish nincompoop.’ Rosso sighed, there were limits to a Voodoo practitioner’s knowledge.

’My flesh...its shedding?’ Wondered Rosso before looking around and finding the culprit. "This place is truly a treasure." The shedding was just his body’s reaction to the corruption, it discarded the infected part and regenerated the injuries at the same time, which gave the illusion of the shedding.

"Sadly, I have no time to seal these things properly. Hopefully, the ring can handle these things without an issue." After that, under the surprised gaze of Loovo, Rosso ended up emptying all the vaults that he came across.

It was time for him to leave.

A day after the incident Hemant was still looking for Amir among the seas and wreckage for a trace. A figure gently walked over the seas. An old woman, whose each step made her travel countless miles at once before she finally appeared over the frozen figure above the ocean.

"The fate really has a habit of repeating itself." She spoke with some pity toward the gigantic snake that remained frozen in the air. While there were some of the experts trying to harm him from the side.

" Immortal Serpent of the Seven Seas, is your will inside still intact?" The woman asked her voice kind and filled with some worry.

And to not disappoint her, a voice did react to her. "I had expected such a visit, but I apologize considering it’s worthless to visit me. You won’t be able to have your revenge in my current state."

"The one I seek revenge from is the one that claims itself to be one of us Noble Dragons, you on the other hand, I just wanted to meet you." The woman spoke, recalling the past that was over a millennium ago.

A time when she was still married and ruled over the Dwarves, unlike now where there is more of a cooperative relationship.

"Meet the killer of your husband? A Dragon’s memory is long, too long, they don’t forgive so easily."

"And I never said I forgive what your other half did." The scene of when Dragon had devoured her husband alive was still fresh in her mind, a scene that had terrified her to this day.

A fear so deep that just by looking at the frozen state of Dragon, she couldn’t help but shiver a bit. Which can be considered a huge humiliation for one carrying her noble bloodline. But she still has to come here and see the ’thing’ that has returned from the long past.

"But I am not young enough to hold a grudge against the one that also saved me and my daughter... if not for you, none of us would have been alive to this day." She spoke and bowed to the figure, a figure that was the reason for her fear, as well as the target of her appreciation.

"Hmm... That thankful attitude of yours hadn’t changed even after thousands of years. So speak, what is it that you desire."

"A way to end your immortality, tell me how the misery brought by that demon will end."
