Chapter 54: 2.14.3 It’s a trap.
Immortality held allure to everyone. But to the old, it was something they desired the most.
Making them the perfect target for Blue Lotus Recruitment.
Though, their contributions to the group were never direct. In simpler terms, these old people can be considered outer members of the group, who were not even aware of the organization they were part of, most of the time.
But this was done for their own security.
As long as they fulfilled their own given objectives, they might earn the chance to enter the inner circle of Blue Lotus.
Objective as simple as, suppressing certain news in the city, providing information that is hard to obtain through normal means and hiding the origin of the medicine that is being fed to the masses, under the pretext of the plague that had been spreading among the masses.
The best part of it all. No one knew or was aware of what they were doing.
And there was virtually no one present in the city that could stop them.
"Adam disappeared?"
Reading the information on the card. Kairut knew that approaching Adam was not possible anymore.
With the attack on Lecarth Library, the plans of Blue Lotus were in motion, meaning, if he wished to get rid of the Jester’s constraints and earn the right of true rebirth. He had to approach the Blue Lotus before they completed their plan.
The only issue being, he did know the location of their first safe house. But not the second.
The original one that is.
Which forced him into passivity.
It was also during this time, Kairut’s eyes fell on a certain report on his desk.
"She fell into a dream as well?" The girl he was speaking of was none other than Thalia. A name he had come to learn due to Remira, otherwise he would not have cared for such an insignificant student.
The dream sickness, others might not know of its origin. But Kairut understood it completely. Which is why, Thalia falling into it was an odd occurrence.
’Jester is a creature of a dream and he went into hiding for some reason.’
Looking at Thalia’s report, the time seemed to match when Kairut’s detected the weakening of Jester’s observation.
’Right under my nose?’
This was too coincidental and felt like a trap. But it doesn’t mean he won’t do anything for his suspicions.
"For Thalia, inform the mayor about another case in our academy. And then send her out."
Kairut didn’t intend to keep a bomb in his hand, let her distract and keep the people from Radiance society busy. And considering how much they looked forward to meeting him. This should be enough of an excuse and distraction from his part.
With his orders given, Kairut got up once again. And at the strike of 1 am of night, he left his office and entered the city again.
This time. He blended among the workers that were transferring the sleeping body of Thalia, to the Durum city hospital. Which was currently filled with patients, due to the plague.
But this was a job that he intended to do personally.
The Radiance side had been informed and from the last report he read on the attack on Lecarth Library, he also understood that the Marshall would also be following Remira to this place as well.
But this was not why he was here.
Just ten minutes before reaching the hospital, when others in the truck were not looking. He ordered a small insect to crawl into Thalia’s mouth.
And after shifting her body to the operation room. He left with others, after his job was over.
When he had originally left the academy through the main teleportation gate. He had felt some eyes on him, which were not on him anymore.
Meaning, this was the time he was looking for.
A clean break.
So he rushed toward none other than the financial minister’s house.
The very person who some consider to be the real leader of Durum and responsible for maintaining good relations with differing parties which involved merchants, noble houses and certain organizations, so that the economy of the city remains stable.
The very man, who is soon reaching his end, and hence, from what he had learned from Jester. This minister is also part of Blue Lotus.
The one responsible for providing them funds as well as connections to other parties that are looking for this chance at rebirth.
One can consider him as the broker for Blue Lotus as well.
"Who are you?" Asked the guard of the Minister’s house.
The security around the Minister’s house is tight and even though it looks like there were only two guards at the gate. Kairut can feel many eyes on himself.
But he didn’t budge, nor showed any sign of backing down, instead, he just requested. "I wish to meet with the minister." Kairut said, releasing the might of an archmage, which caused the guard at the gate to lower his head in respect as well as fear.
"Please hold on for a moment." The guest in front of him was not someone he can ever consider ordering around. Knowing his place, as well as how the archmages are akin to the strongest might of humanity known to common people.
He did as he spoke.
"The Minister has agreed to meet up with you. But it might take some time, as he was sleeping not so long ago."
The guard informed Kairut, while opening the gate and leading him into the building.
Though, what the guard, Kairut, as well as the hidden security around the house failed to notice was another couple of eyes that glared at Kairut, as he was led into the Minister’s Guest room.
Eyes that glistened with white fire.

Let’s go back to a few minutes, after Kairut had left the hospital and Remira arrived with Maisel in tow.
Not much happened in the day following the raid on the Library. But there were certain things learned by the group after a thorough investigation done by Maisel’s men.
For one, the huge amount of rat carcasses. Remira doesn’t believe the magic traps created by Maxim would be so easily foiled by using a bunch of rats. Which meant, there was something wrong there.
The second point.
Lots of the physical traps remained inactive, as if the intruders were aware of the mechanisms, hidden in the walls.
More could have been learned through investigation, if not for the sudden news of another victim to the dream sickness.
And this time, it was someone that she met not so long ago.
"Thalia."
Instead of dealing with it internally, Kairut had sent Thalia out to the surface, while he took up an excuse of preventing something similar from happening once again.
But this time, the coincidences were too incriminating, it won’t take long for her to obtain a warrant and enter the premises of Lucien’s Abode, once again and meet that old snake face to face.
"Marshall, it would be better for you to put in the request for Warrant, once again. I think this time, we have something in our hands. It won’t take long before obtaining some proof." Remira suggested, while looking at the peaceful body of Thalia, who had fallen into deep sleep.
"Use this book as proof, it might earn us some time."
She then gave Maisel the book she found in the library and then looked toward the bully girl that had forced Farhad into the library.
But from what Remira understood, she was innocent.
Her actions were driven under the suggestion of the Puppeteer, a being capable of influencing others, even stealing and modifying memories to some extent.
So it won’ the weird that she was used as a tool and an excuse to force Farhad into that library and obtain the book, which ended up causing his death.
"My men will see to it, But for now, focus on her and learn if she was influenced by it or not."
"Of course."
Remira took out two vials of blood.
One was Farhad’s, taken out after his death and the other was of Adam’s who was currently in custody.
Remira was going to use an innate spell; she was born as a daughter of the hounds and hence had many bloodline abilities, even before she converted to the Radiant blood.
The spell of Blood Conjunction was capable of finding patterns and corruption hidden in blood.
And when matching Farhads as well as Adam’s blood before, she had found a small connection between the two.
Hence, by using the same spell over Thalia’s body, she intends to learn if there was any true connection between the three parties.
But before she can do so. Maisel held her hands and ordered. "Stop!"
Which confused Remira for a bit.
"I can feel a high amount of black magic from her body." Maisel’s hand waved around Thalia’s body. "This is a trap... take her out of the hospital. Doing anything to her body without understanding what is wrong with it, is dangerous."
