Chapter 511: 8.05.3 The reptilian.

Annoyance was the thing that Heroth hated the most.

There were times when he desired adventure, so he went out to search for one, and there were times when he looked for peace, which he obtained by trying to lie low in some small island villages he found.

When he started to live in hiding during his vacations, there were often that he would make moves depending on the needs of the people around him like some hidden expert. However, with time, Heroth also learned that those kinds of moves will often create further problems along the line. They were bringing him more trouble and ruining his attempt to have a peaceful vacation.

Which is why he stopped caring, he didn’t care what happened to those around him as long as he could live his life peacefully. And that has remained true till now.

"The issues you have with that young man shouldn’t be poured on me. I am a bystander, don’t drag me into this." The playful tone that Heroth general had was gone, coming off a bit colder than usual, which put Arahi on edge suddenly.

She might be the only person who had noticed the oddities with this old man, the only one in the city to "suffer" under his drinking. Which made her turn to look at the two guests and say. "Please, we really don’t know anything... that’s the whole truth we have at hand, nothing more." It took all of her will to say such words. The might of these two guests was passively suppressing those weaker than them. So for the girl to speak in such a situation proved her mental fortitude.

And although her words attracted Lasi Ashwa’s eyes, the priest didn’t care at all. "That is for me to decide. Please Lady Lasi, take the girl out, I will be questioning this man myself." The Old man didn’t show much interest in the reasons at all. Instead, the more he looked at this man, the more his eyes shined.

’He is hiding something big.’ Thought the old priest Halbrand.

Originally, he had promised his entourage Lasi that he wouldn’t ask any off-topic questions, but that had all gone out the window the moment he met the old sailor.

He could see what others can’t see.

He can sense the level of lies that cover a person to some extent. The lies deceive the eyes, it’s what made the church of Truthful Deceit so powerful in its own right.

They were masters at finding the truth out of people. And in his eyes, Heroth was someone covered in lies. Lies that even he fooled himself into believing.

"Sir, there is no need to go too far, we have already obtained wha..."

"I don’t like to repeat myself... go out." This was an order, and considering the Four Beast families were nothing more than the guardians of the Church of Truthful Deceit, she couldn’t deny this order. So bowing her head in some disappointment, she dragged the little girl out with her.

"Don’t worry, I am not the kind to harm people that speak true to me." Halbrand gave a kind of assurance that made Lasi sigh and look at Heroth Apologetically, whose eyes had turned yellow.

"??" But there was not much left to speak at all. She left, unaware of the series of disasters this simple action of hers would cause.

"Now there is no one left, no one to enjoy the truth you will speak from now." And with Lasi’s absence, a smile appeared on Halbrand’s face, a pervy smile that made the annoyance level of Heroth climb a level.

"Is this all necessary?" Heroth couldn’t help but ask. "I just wish to stay here for a while, just for a while to enjoy some peace, so why is sir pushing me into a corner? I haven’t caused any harm to anyone as of yet."

"You speak as if you are capable of harm in this city." Halbrand laughed with some mockery on his face, already treating the old man like some spy or criminal at least. "The cult has been active lately, there have been movements in all other districts besides ours, do you know why?"

"I am just a drunk sailor, I don’t have a clue." Heroth also forgo’ed any awe he was faking before, and it was not because there was no other witness, but because of how annoyed he was at this point. Already expecting what will happen next.

"Still not speaking the truth?" Halbrand asked, before pinching his finger, causing a drop of blood to flow out and then slowly evaporate into the air. "The Condemnation is active in this place, any lie will be followed by excruciating pain. So answer me again with truth, or show me your pain."

At those words, Heroth went silent for a bit, feeling the holy fingers of the god’s power slowly covering his body. "This is disgusting." Was his reply instead of a proper response as one of his stands stood up?

"What did you say?"

"This... this is fucking disgusting." More of his hands stood up like spikes, while his face twisted to that of anger and that of a kind Buddha.

"Huh?..." The questions hadn’t even begun, and something odd was already taking place in front of Halbrand’s eyes. "You, what are you doing?"

"Take it back, these dirty things trying to enter my body, take it back, back back BAAACK!!" Heroth did his best to hold his hand back. One of his eyes turned completely golden for a bit as it was shown with a demonic light that broke the condemned ground with a single glance. "What?" Cried Halbrand, backing off a bit. But before he could fully understand what was happening, reptilian arms materialized from his back and grabbed his neck. "PEACE!! THIS IS YOUR PEACE!!"

And then book, the door was broken open as Raja entered the scene, rushing toward Heroth, while Elder Lasi went on to save the old priest as she fought off the floating reptilian arm. "Don’t use flames, don’t harm the shop, don’t do anything, or he will get angrier." Shouted Raja, who took out a bunch of golden relics that he had collected for ages and poured it down in front of the maddened Heroth as he bowed. "Lord, please take this offering. The Old ones are just foolish, he is no different, pity him, spare him." Raja never intended to fight from the start.

It was only about ten minutes back that he learned of what had transpired and thinking of the worst, he took the emergency package he had been handed long ago by his boss and rushed to the scene, but it would seem he was still a bit late.

"What do you mean?" Originally Lasi was not the one to let just anyone past her, even if it meant the manager of the bartenders, but she had to do it after feeling something odd from the shop.

Something horrible that caused her bloodline to stagnate. ’What kind of monster?’ Was her thought before she agreed and rushed in.

Only to see an odd scene.

"This hand, I can only prevent it from crushing Sir Halbrands head for only a little, Raja, do it fast."

"Sir, please, that man will never ruin your peace again, I will make sure this time... I will ensure that none of the legendaries bother you about this. So please don’t escalate the situation."

"You, you... the little servant with some brain, you, you help the other one a lot. "Spoke the semi-transformed Heroth before turning to look at the treasure. "And I accept your offer." With those words, the hand grabbing Halbrand disappeared into the wind, along with the treasure that was placed on the ground by Raja.

"The Lord’s heart is magnanimous, I will try my best to provide you with a peaceful life in this city."

"Hmph... we will see it." With those words, the yellow from Heroth’s eyes disappeared, replaced with the clarity of Heroth. "Hmm..." Looking at the unconscious Halbrand and the fearful face of Elder Lasi, he didn’t speak much, but he only took one bottle of rum from the side and started to sing while climbing the stairs.

He was angry.

"This... who is this man?" Lasi asked under the loud singing sound of Heroth, though her voice was much lower than one could have expected.

She has felt the distance in strength just by touching that odd reptilian arm, she could feel weakness the kind a child faces in front of a train.

"That is something I can’t answer even if my life depended on it. The most I can tell is to provide him with a peaceful life, and he will keep gifting you with the riches he had collected through his life."

As the small talk between the two continued as some backup arrived, Arahi on the side, who witnessed everything smiled for a bit. ’It’s confirmed.’ She thought before thinking up the message she would send to her boss. Then she took a pause and recalled Rosso’s face.

’So he is truly that odd one.’ She smiled a bit further, finally putting a face to the name she had been hearing a lot about recently.

The name of the Blood Flower Fiend, and the man with direct contact with their god, the Jester. "I won."

She had truly won the jackpot today, she learned two important pieces of information at once. Before she suddenly started to feel bad for Rosso. "He was looking for the traces of that old man... I wonder how he will react if he learns that he had angered the only active lead." She smiled further when alone before sending a message to her boss using a small pager that she always kept close.
