The God of Jesters -
Chapter 50 - 2.13.2 Raid
Chapter 50: 2.13.2 Raid
"What is this?" Horrified, he backed off. His drunkenness disappeared in a second as he used a rug from his makeshift home to throw these insects off.
Which didn’t work, as more and more insects started to crawl out of the corners of the sewer, surrounding the man. "Help." He cried, but in the sewer, he was all alone.
Causing panic to be written all over his face as he stepped on the insects, rushed toward the sewer entrance.
Though, it was a bit late, as his countless poisonous insects had already bit him, making him lose energy on his way to escape.
Giving the insects an opportunity to climb his body. "H... Help!" He begged, feeling the pain of thousands of insects biting into his flesh, crawling into his body and injecting him with their poison.
But the sewer remained quiet.
Barring a single rat, it crawled out of its hole and looked at the dying man with curious eyes.
A dying man whose screams were covered with the insects that crawled up his mouth, soon followed by his death.
Silence was back into the sewer.

Kairut, in his plan, never thought that Remira would already be present in that shop. And it also didn’t seem she was aware of the truth about the shop. An ignorant little girl who went there coincidently.
But somehow, it matched the time when he was going to visit it. Which in turn had forced Adam to act "naturally" exposing the oddity that Kairut carried.
An unexpected variable had ruined his plan to approach the Blue Lotus. Making him abandon his identity and run away from the scene.
A variable that seemed a bit too coincidental.
’Is that clown really away?’
He knew how that clown acted. Hiding from the eyes while putting suggestions in the mind of weaker ones, while giving out clues to those with strong minds just to achieve his particular goal.
’Is this his warning?’ There was a reason why Kairut has not betrayed Jester, even after learning that the Blue Lotus has succeeded in partial reincarnation.
Living for so long has given him enough experience that he can use it to judge others. And from his understanding, Jester was dangerous, way more dangerous than the Blue Lotus believes.
One can see from the fact that while working with Blue Lotus, the Jester was also openly hostile to them. Planning to betray them using Kairut as his tool.
And as his tool, he had come to learn a lot more things about this Jester than anyone can ever hope to know.
Which is why, the first thought that appeared in Kairut’s mind was whether the Jester was playing with him for his amusement. A false information made to make him slip and expose his inner desires.
Desires that had been known to Jester for a long time, but Jester might wonder. How far would Kairut go to achieve those desires?
"That bereaved Marshall also seems to be eyeing him. Making it much harder to contact the Blue Lotus anymore."
Below that shop was one of the headquarters of Blue Lotus, but not so far from there, there was another one of their hiding places, another cadre level figure in their organization that had been the original sect that had existed in the city since the start, unlike the Vaisal’s Enchanted potions one, which was created a mere two years ago under the direction of the youngest Cadre of their organization, which was none other than Adam.
A man who had recovered his memory from the past and hence was gladly accepted into the organization.
But Adam was in hot waters due to his careless actions. In turn limiting his own choices to a single one.
The original sect of Blue Lotus is the only place he can go now.

In the Blue Flower Garmest in a Gorkhi street, a woman silently took measures of a noble lady and then asked. "I wonder what patterns Missus would like on her gown?"
There were various embroidered samples in a book in front of the woman, who filled with pages of the book, getting the feeling of each design.
Before picking up a yellow chrysanthemum flower with fishes in it.
"A great choice."
Doing a few more selections, the woman sent out this noble lady as well as her friends out, with a bright smile on her face.
A smile she maintained till reaching her room.
"Foolish younglin." She had received the news.
Adam was younger as well as weaker than her, the only reason she was to act as his assistant during this mission was due to the information and prestige Adam had carried from his last life.
Which was unlike her, who only joined Blue Lotus only in this life and strives to obtain the same gifts as Adam obtained in his last one. And with time, she had stood at the top of her sect and were just a few steps away from her goal.
It was also her, who originally contacted the dream spirit that roamed this city of Durum and requested his help in return for a kind of knowledge that she didn’t even possess.
But that was to be done if they had to achieve their goals.
The rat king’s control over his rats was needed in the plan, so is his ability to collect a huge amount of information which would be useful in their plan to revive their god.
A plan which took more than a decade to prepare.
And before she could enjoy the fruits of her labor, a younglin came and took her opportunity from her hands.
Which makes the current situation, although a bit frustrating. She was actually happy it happened.
To her, a competitor was off the plan.
Picking up a small notebook, she wrote down some orders, including the place to shift the resources as well as how to spread the potions in the city. Before closing them and leaving her room with a bright smile.
"Just a few days more and it will be full moons."
As for her notebook, the words on it simply disappeared into thin air, as if they never existed to begin with.

It was night and Maxim was out on the balcony, looking toward the night sky with his hollow eyes.
Learning that Kairut had targeted Adam, he found it somewhat odd.
Did he miss something?
No, he was careful when dealing with Adam. That young man was considered safe as well as free of any permanent damages, as Maxim had sacrificed himself in place of Adam.
"Kairut might be working with the Blue Lotus as well."
It’s the conclusion he came up with. Originally, he thought that Kairut was in the party of the Puppeteer.
The same puppeteer that had helped him to some extent, against none other than the god of Blue lotus. Exposing their goal and the being that had fallen in this city.
And with Adam being the medium used to pierce the veil of that dream. Kairut was probably sent by the Blue lotus to end those in the know.
Which also meant that the previous assumption of Kairut being another puppet might be wrong.
No, he might still be one, but of the Blue lotus.
"Are you confused, sir?" Pierta, who was attending him, asked with some concern.
"Yes, I am very much confused at the things going on in the city. Everything feels chaotic." Uncontrollable was the word he was looking for.
It seemed to be a city on the verge of chaos.
"It feels like we are not making any progress at all and falling into the game of that bastard. The more we try to find the truth." Maxim can see that he was being used, along with others and he also knew by whom.
But there was nothing he could do.
Now, all he can do is depend on others, who should be coming to this city.
"Then isn’t it better to go against the grain? Something unpredictable that would throw off that puppeteer?" Pierta was mostly an intelligence agent, hence her way of thinking somewhat differed from a Magistar like Maxim.
Which is why she suggested tackling the problems with something different.
But Maxim could only shake his head.
"We lack the information about our enemy or their goals to do that."
"Let’s just wait and se..."
With those words, the whole library shook, surprising the two.
It was night time and the activity in the streets was lower than before. Even Remira was out to track any suspicious individual that can’t be found out by the white eyes that were active in the city.
Which made it so that there were only two people in the library.
"The defense enhancement is broken... and they have deployed a silent one in the area. Asking for help might not be possible."
Maxim was in fighting mode, with cane in his hand, he looked all over the building. Feeling the origin of the blast as well as the mana of silence covering the whole library.
It was a raid.
