Chapter 482: 4.22.10 Epilogue 2 : Betrayal.

"Before we begin, any idea about Ludwig? Where he is?" Of course, Farhad still needed to know about Ludwig’s current status. Though he never expected a kind answer.

"Still nothing, Prince Ludwig hasn’t appeared since the trial. No one knows where he is." Hemant really believed these words, Amir had never spoken to him about the information he had obtained from his grandfather.

So he remained ignorant of the truth and spread that ignorance to those who asked him about it. But what can he do, this is the dirty secret of the Royal family that only the older generation is aware of. Their fear for the old Duke is much greater than normal and if the word of it were to leak, it would be considered a great controversy.

"Then I am to assume he is having been dealt with, though probably not killed.’ Farhad spoke lightly of the death of a Royal, which if it were to be exposed, would put him in some trouble. Same reason why Hemant tried to warn Farhad, who just nodded and replied with a simple. "I misspoke."

Hemant knew that Farhad was not sincere, but he still had to play along while going back to the topic. "My Lord considers that enough time has gone by that you won’t mind if we were to get some answers from you."

Farhad had expected these words long before, he was thinking why Amir had waited for so long and blamed most of it on the circumstances and the aftermath of the incident.

One shouldn’t forget how brutally Farhad had killed Amir in that false dream, the shock of it alone would have put a heavy pressure on Amir’s mind, so it was no wonder the Young prince hadn’t approached him again for some answers concerning their opponent.

But it would seem that enough time has gone by that there is no need to consider such small feelings. Although the one who visited him was Hemant, and if it was someone immature, they would have treated this action as Amir’s cowardice, Farhad was not the kind to look down on people so easily.

One with power can be foolish, but one with authority rarely is a fool. And with the small interactions he had with Amir, he knew that he had long matured and didn’t seem that affected by the limiting factor that is inner demons from the mouth of some Knights.

In modern times, it’s also called PTSD and those who learned would obviously find a way to deal with it in a healthy manner, and Amir was a learned individual.

"But before you answer, my master asked me to be at the forefront of what I have done before and who I met." It was at this time Hemant explained to Farhad about his meeting with Fahna and the subsequent attempt on his life. Which did put Farhad in an annoyed mood.

"You put my sister’s life on the line." There was anger in his voice. He recalls what the jester has said. As long as his sister forgets about her little brother, Farhad would spare her and Farhad’s mother. They won’t suffer the same fate as those others who took part in Ikaros Yethel’s death.

This was one of the reasons why Farhad had chosen to remain away from them.

"That was not my intention, nor my master’s, he just did as he was instructed."

"That doesn’t change the fact that your actions might have led my sister back into this world. My family has suffered enough, and since last time, I just want it to be me. Not my sister, not my mother."

"The simple act of you approaching her would have ignited a desire in her... that is wrong..." Feeling the heightened emotions, Farhad suppressed himself as much as he could, bringing the rising temperature in his body to bay. "You, were ignorant of the matter, but I don’t believe those that instilled such ideas in Prince Amir’s mind were not... speak, who are they?" To lead Hemant to his sister, it ought to be someone who is aware of what has happened recently.

They have to be in the know in one way or another. ’Using my family to teach your prince?... really treat me for a fool sometimes.’ Sadly no matter how Amir asked, he never got to learn who sent Amir in such a way.

Leaving him to say. "I would wish for an apology from your Lord. The next time we meet..." The fact that Amir let Hemant expose this factor was enough to show his sincerity on this matter. But a proper apology is still required from the perpetrator and not from a proxy, who seemed to have suffered on his own a lot.

"I will convey your thoughts to the Lord."

With that done, they finally began to discuss on the reason why the Hemant came here for. Which started with a lot more detailed explanation of Amir’s simple interaction with the girl named Gazelle and then meeting with what seemed like an avatar of Jester. And subsequent attacks on the factories in Luthanza.

Hearing this put Farhad in a tough position.

He remembers how weirdly obsessed Amir was with the name Gazelle, a woman he recalls clearly.

She was someone who acted as the heart of the group, appearing like a big sister who took care of everyone. And a woman of few words.

Among the whole group, if he has good will towards anyone, it would be Gazelle, because, in his eyes, she was the most normal, followed by Mini, the little girl.

But now hearing the words of Hemant, it would seem that things were not as simple as they appeared. ’Gazelle the mysterious.’ Truly a mystery at this point in his eyes. Making even someone of Amir’s stature fall for her in a few words.

"I have met her, and her siblings. I lived with them for a few months." And Farhad started a story he had told no one in his whole life. A story where a bunch of bandits brought him all around the country before ending up in Pulgasiri.

And Hemant noted all the aspects of these siblings in his mind clearly. And was horrified to learn that there can such weird individuals with power in this world.

Each of them was dangerous and each of them was capable of fighting and even harming Master level individuals if the need arose. Specifically, the individuals that went by the name Owl and Scart. "Exorcist can be this dangerous?"

"They are dangerous because we know so little about them. Their abilities varied just like the Mages, but a bit eccentric and hard to explain in modern words."

"I considered the whole group an oddity." The Exorcists were supreme during the days of Curses, but since the inception of the bloodline of Radiance, their legacy has slowly died down with time, and now, barely any Exorcist families exist in this world.

"Such evils, the Jester really holds such odd evils in his hands?"

"They are not evil from my interaction with them... but they are odd."

*****

I heard how that Hemant kid called my little bastards evil, which made me want to give him a whopping.

But hearing the subsequent defense from Farhad’s lips made my heart melt.

"Truly a great pet." I liked this old friend of mine, we might not agree on certain subjects from time to time. At the end of it all, we do think alike, and I can depend on him when the need arises.

But enough is enough, my work on the war was coming to an end and there had been a great pushback on keeping the war going by the leaders on both sides.

The Five-month-long war came to an end soon after twenty kilometers of Cynark land was occupied by the Yethel army. Bringing us face to face with the barracks and the city it defended, which was Durum.

I believe in the following conflicts, that city will belong to us again, including all its riches. But now was not the time.

Don’t eat more than you can chew and besides, I believe that the Duke gave some leeway on his way in an attempt to draw me in. Just some goodwill to show that working with him will only help me gain advantages.

And I won’t deny such goodwill.

So our conquest was brought to an end and the enemies were given some time to lick their wounds.

"Humiliating defeat. Now they will think twice before attacking us again."

With a triumph came its own set of problem thoughts.

The world is already surprised by our win, though more than that, they are more interested in the weapons we created causing several foreigners to enter our lands, all in an attempt to learn our secrets and steal our technology. Which finally became the reason why I had to go back.

"I have stabilized my realm, I can probably control multiple cities at once." I can feel a rise in strength, control, and my soul power. With a simple will, I can bring countless rats under my knees if I want. Meaning the future was going to get better and better with time.

I have left the city of Garlum for too long, the capital needs some care, specifically when so many hounds are eyeing its innovations.

But who would have thought that hounds were eying for me?

People I called friends.

People who I gave my everything to.

People who were meant to be on my side.

"Why?" Was my question as chains made out of thoughts bound me like an animal? And not my mortal body, but my immortal one, hiding in the dream world.

Each chain for each head forced my body to fall to its knees.

"No reason other than the fact that I lack servants of my own. And then you appeared out of nowhere."

"And don’t worry, nothing will change, you can still do whatever you want whenever you want. But you won’t be able to deny me, nor betray us."

Lord Emotion, a fallen god spoke in words I understood very clearly. And his actions, I can understand. But what I couldn’t understand was Orvillia standing with him, looking at me as if I were some insect.

I really thought we had something, even if she didn’t like me.

Guess I was wrong.
