The God of Jesters
Chapter 465 - 7.20.2 Amir’s new servant.

Chapter 465: 7.20.2 Amir’s new servant.

Dirt, grime, and blood surrounded me, along with countless squirming corpses burning under the sun.

Such a disgusting sight it was that Farhad wished to just close his eyes and move on. But he understood that now was not the time to act childish. This was the reality brought forth by his existence. So he needs to watch it all unfold on his own.

’Sinful.’ He thought to himself, wondering if the powers that acted here really had to go so far as to annihilate their own men along with the ghouls. Would they feel the guilt he felt? Would they feel bad for the dead here?

He can’t say for certain, Farhad knows his father, a man that never held any remorse for all the cruelty he showered on the world. So why would those even stronger and higher than him think?

’Would I also turn like them?’ Farhad understood that he was not a good person, he was far from goodness, to say the least. But he still strived for a better world, he would help an old lady walk the street if she asked of him.

That’s the kind of person he was.

But seeing this unneeded carnage, he started to wonder if he had the right to have such thoughts to begin with. "This is reality, my reality... more will die in the future, I need to get strong enough to prevent that from happening."

The nation he was part of was the wrong one, they treated the lives of mortals too lightly, they treated it nothing more than an inexhaustible crop weed whose sole purpose was to burn for the ambitions of greater men.

"The Time will come when they will pay for it all the misery." There was no love left for Cynark in his heart, if not for his kind mother and serious sister, he might have already left the country and lived in seclusion away from this continent of Brihma.

No, Farhad understood that if not for them, he might have outright joined Jester at this point. ’It’s why he was after my sister.’ Things made sense from Jester’s point of view, he might hate Farhad’s family for being the only remaining shackle that binds Farhad to Cynark.

But Jester is also smart enough to understand one thing, he can’t harm them or face the wrath of Farhad. ’An equal relationship, this is much better.’

With his growing strength, Farhad was starting to see a new world in front of him. A world of those with power, a world where he will have a say for himself.

A world where his actions can change the lives of many.

So the first thing he plans to do after meeting that annoying servant of Jester is to come to an understanding with him, with his master specifically. ’Just hope this works.’

"The dead seemed to stick to me like loaches." Was it the smell I exuded to the dead? Or my nature as the Rat, which also correlated to my existence as a Wraith that attracted them?

"Bask in the sun’s glory, accept your death, and return to the cycle, sticking to this world will only bring you misery," I spoke to the foolish souls who didn’t have a will of their own and just acted on instinct.

This was a sign that they were not too far gone, which was also understandable considering not too much time had passed since their death.

And if there was a reason for them to exist after their death, then it would only be the betrayal and anger they felt at the world.

Unjustified deaths always lead to more misery for the victim. Just like now. "Go," I say, pointing my finger at them and dragging them out of my shadow, which in turn exposed them to the sun. "This is for your own good."

I didn’t feel pity for them, not one bit. They belonged to an enemy nation no matter what.

After making sure I had dealt with the souls that were attached to me during my journey, I soon came across the camp where I was meant to meet up with my Prince Charming, Aka Ludwig.

However, the faces I found in the camp were a tad bit odd, minus a few who made me smile with delight.

"Ho, he is here as well?" It was a face I hadn’t seen in a long time, the face of an old friend that I had been curious about for a while.

But I still stood still in my tracks, I couldn’t be sure what was going on, but with the little details I obtained from the camp, it was easy to tell that people had changed places, and someone had been called back.

As for the reason, it was easy to guess as well. ’But there is still a contract... that man won’t be foolish enough to break it.’ Ludwig was someone obsessed with contracts, he kept everyone under him under countless restrictions due to the life he lived.

He can’t trust people easily, but he can trust a piece of paper that ensures that his companions never betray him. It’s who they became adept at writing up contracts and following them to boot.

So he is not the kind to make a basic mistake and leave without ever leaving a contact for him here. Which is why I have to look for someone who should be holding my reward in their hands.

Would it be the Prince of this place? The foolish guy who still hasn’t learned what was good for him and kept acting as his grandfather’s puppet?

Or was it that old friend of mine, well no, It’s definitely not him.

He currently is hiding, acting as a normal soldier supporting the foolish Prince like a logistic officer. Though was he really hiding or was it really what he did? Well, I can’t say for certain, no one in that family is a simple individual to begin with.

Or it’s just that the disaster that happened all those years ago dragged him to the level of a common soldier.

But the blood is not a lie, he is still one of them, an individual with power and talent rivaling Prince Amir.

’Ludwig is not someone with that level of reach, nor would he pick a hot potato... so it’s definitely not him.’

This has turned troublesome, but it’s not like I cared about it all.

’Three days limit, things are still heated up... I can’t act for the moment.’

Ignoring my goal of entering the Mage Institute, I still wished to beat up precious Prince Amir for his simple offense of refusing my goodwill, so it would seem a good chance to fulfill on that promise.

Sadly, I can’t do much on that part for the moment, as the mages and cleaning crew that were dealing with the corpses were active on the battlefield, any direct attack would obviously attract a powerful mage before I could do a thing to Prince Amir.

’Ho, then a meeting in the dark.’

The Devastation of Yesterday’s magic shower was still vividly imprinted on Amir’s mind. It almost reminded him of the day that missiles fell on Luthanza. No, the magic seemed grander, and more lethal in comparison due to how focused they were.

"The Sacrifice of Jato, Mulwari, and Hakon will be remembered, they were active in the night all alone in the field when the mage’s ghoul riot happened." It was mostly truth mixed with little lies. "... They will be remembered, and I will make sure that their families will be compensated for their sacrifice."

Amir also felt a bit bad that the first thing that happened after he arrived was the death of three of his men who had survived on their own till now after Ludwig left.

But what can he even do? From what he learned, if not for that devastating attack, the ghouls might have raided the human encampment, making such a large-scale attack impossible, and fighting on the ground level against these beasts would have caused even higher casualties.

It could be even said that those three were dead no matter what happened, the magic attack only brought their death forward by a few minutes and made it a lot painless in comparison. ’They can be considered the lucky ones.’ And Amir was not the kind to think too much about their death, as in his mind, nothing they did would have changed the scenario.

This was the best possible future to begin with.

"Sir, you seem tired." Came a young man who brought forward a cup of Coffee, which was a new kind of beverage for Amir, but he liked it on the taste alone. "Drinking something so delicious feels sinful to me... If possible, I wish to share this treat with others in the camp would it be possible?"

"I would check in provisions to make sure there is enough... if not, I believe a bit of booze would rectify any dissatisfaction that the soldiers might be feeling at the moment." The young man said, bowing his head and disappearing from the sight of Amir.

"General Vera has sent me good people this time," Amir spoke looking at the receding figure.

While Hemant, who also enjoyed the coffee thought for a bit before shaking his head. "It would be better if we remain guarded, a Prince has seen the accident, it’s not telling if there is a group involved."

"No matter what happens, I have the blessing currently, even if someone happens, I won’t lose my life. So I can live with confidence for a while."
