Chapter 447: 7.15.3 Killing.
Even if the war was going on the frontline, it didn’t mean there were no casualties on the side of the ghoul extermination squads.
Speed was important during the ghoul extermination operation, but such a rush usually led to mistakes made, and mistakes led to fatal accidents.
One of which was used as a cover for me.
The truck drove at high speeds, ignoring the injuries of soldiers at the back. And it didn’t seem the nurses cared about it at all, to some of the injured, they treated them as dead men from the beginning.
"This one died." And then I saw something ridiculous. "Slow down, I will throw it on the side."
Was it optimizing the time and space available on the truck?
Maybe, that was the excuse they used to make sense of their cruelty.
’At least I won’t be thrown off.’ Killing the team from before was not hard, what was hard was the time it took me to get here. ’Oh Ludwig my poor prince, you made a mistake.’
I was well aware of the little game he played from the start, and as it is generally, smart people are generally easier to fool than stupid ones. This was one of such cases.
Ludwig was many things, but humble was not one of them. Due to his life experience, Ludwig lived in the present for most of his life, never daring to dream of the future and hence he rushed a lot of things, even if it brought him failures.
But in most cases, when there is a chance of failure, the price he would generally pay would not be too harsh. But that’s not the case anymore, is it?
Reaching the closest camp, I used the opportunity when there were no eyes to sneak past the sentries and kill one of the logistics officers. A clean death without much blood, I preferred to keep his death clean as his uniform might mess up.
Before climbing the supply truck and leaving for the barracks.
Sadly, I still had to do this thing three more times, and before long, it was already midday when I reached the foot of the barracks. "Nothing gets in." These were the words I heard after some probing from the temporary camp established outside the war.
From the looks of it, things have stabilized on the border after Cynark sent multiple Grandmaster-level Figures to push back Yethel’s attack.
A stalemate that was just one of the many.
"What are you doing, bring all this to Camp F453, check the register if you don’t know where." My current boss handed me a slip and pointed to some materials that they started to fill in my truck. However, my mind was not on this job to begin with.
I just looked in a different direction. ’Should have copied a bird.’ I felt envious of the birds’ ability to fly, with it, I could have easily rushed past the barracks and entered the city of Durum. But sadly, I can’t. If I kept using these official routes.
"Of course sir." I thanked my head officer and drove the truck with some soldiers towards the designated location. Or so I would have done, if not for me killing them partway out of the camp.
"Hopefully this truck is tenacious." I went off-road, driving through dunes and even a rocky terrain left there to make the lives of those who dared to cross a bit harder.
I even found some old broken villages that once were home to the poor of Cynark. "Such beautiful vistas... I hope to have a home one day here." I said while rubbing shoulders with my companion, who could only move a bit in response to my words considering he was dead.
"Do you know how I am going to kill that prince of yours?" I asked but got no answer in return. "Impalement... It’s the perfect end to such a disgusting bloodline."
"What do you mean I won’t get a chance?... hah, don’t treat me like those simple killers. I am a master at killing."
"Ho, you think I am too weak? My friend, strength is not all about one’s physicality, there are many more things that give me advantages."
"Hey now... no need to get so insensitive, I never talked about my Penis, you are the one who started."
"Eww, man... keep such raunchy story of you and your missus to yourself, I am just a driver." Before long, I could see the last village on the map and I knew that the time had come.
"Sadly brother, it would seem we would have to part ways." I was a bit sad, I had thought we had developed a good relationship on our short journey. But you guys are leaving me here? " I looked at the truck, wishing to burn all these bastards that betrayed me after journeying for so long. But I stopped.
"Well, good luck guys." The smoke will probably expose the truck’s location and I can’t afford this.
But enough, it’s time for me to enter that accursed city, where the precious prince is living.

In the barracks in one of the lower-level rooms where a couple of mages were fiddling with a a simple map. One of them points at a beeping light and says. "It would seem one of the trucks drove off the path... another bunch of deserters."
Most of the expensive equipment that the logistics used had marks of mages on them, all done to make sure that nothing of importance was lost as well as to track deserters that might try to escape the war.
"There are still selfish bastards that dare to ignore the call of their country.’ One of them spoke, obviously belonging to the governmental mage unit.
"Well, from the looks of it, it seems to be a medicine truck, who knows how many died due to their selfishness today... this one is a priority task, Eliminate them and bring back the lost medicines."
The order was given out and a small task force soon left the newly established camp.
Though the force at the end of the journey will only find misery, but that is all for later.

"Uncle... Uncle, I lost my mother... Uncle." It was around eleven of the morning by the time I reached the city, and one look was enough to know what path I had to take.
"Another one?" The soldier looks at me, wondering what to do, before shaking his head and pushing me inside. "You see that tent, go inside and have your ID checked." What sort of ID would a child possess?
The intent was obvious, although countless people lost their lives in the missile attack of yesterday, the security at the edge of the dome was stronger than ever.
They wouldn’t let any stragglers enter easily, and most of the time, only children were allowed in. Even then, I noticed an odd pattern. ’Beautiful children only?’ At least that was the case with this specific checkpoint and I didn’t mind using this to my advantage.
Changing faces was easy for me, and with some soot from burnt corpses, I found from the ruins of refugee camps that were not under the protection of the magical circle. I approached the man with my intentions clear.
The current me was covered in my mother’s remains who had burnt to death, and although I looked ugly due to the soot, those with a discerning eye would notice the beauty hidden beneath.
"Oh, such a beautiful girl." the woman said in the tent and I replied. "Aunty, I am a boy." She found me cute.
Cute enough to wash me while asking all kinds of questions so that I don’t make a scene.
And by the time I was led away by some more men into a distant building in the city, I knew what was going on. ’This is why this city country will fall.’ War brings out the worst in people and sometimes the worst is still a kind description of these evil bastards.
But I can’t complain, it’s such kind of corruption that made it easier for me to enter their city so easily.
"You brought another one?" Said a man who looked like just an everyday kind professor, if not for what was beside him. "
"..." There were others like him in this room, obviously nobles and one of them even a mage.
All of them were at least the level of Junior Knight, with two of them being Adept levels.
"I will take this one."
"Hey... this one is too cute for you."
It was a massacre. There was no need to keep on any act, I just got rid of the filth before they could cry for help.
Well, part of the reason they couldn’t ask for help in time was probably the location they chose to conduct such heinous crimes.
As for the kids?
I gave them a kinder death. As there was no other way left for them, I just ended their misery earlier. Which probably makes me some sort of saint, isn’t it?
"Don’t worry, there is reincarnation in this world. By the time you come back, I will have turned this world for the better." With those words, I left the area after turning into a monkey.
That’s the short form I can take, making it easier for me to hide from prying eyes.
However, there was one thing I did after coming to this place. "Awaken my children." With a bit of focus on the city under me, various rats who seemed to have carried my mark from their parents suddenly turned and looked in my direction. "Spread the mark, go and find any mentions of Prince and Lucius."
