The God of Jesters
Chapter 435 - 7.12.4 Vance

Chapter 435: 7.12.4 Vance

The fight he witnessed was fun enough, which also made him understand one thing.

Experience is never everything, as even an old Knight like Thorp can make mistakes. But Farhad was not the kind to be nosy about such issues, nor was Thorp that embarrassed by his misconception.

The reason is simple as well. "Never expected Prince Amir to be so strong."

None would have thought so in his place. Amir was a bit too perverted when it came to battle and unpredictable to boot. He almost made it appear effortless, which caused the Farhad’s Military guards to wonder if he had been hiding some of his abilities as well.

"I saw something wonderful today." Farhad agreed that Amir was strong, a bit too strong, and almost reaching the same level as his father. Of course, he lacked the variability that his father was capable of, considering he was a mage.

But when comparing the Knight alone, Farhad was sure that Amir’s vitality matched that of Remira, which had already reached an absurd level even for a Master Ranked Knight. So it’s no wonder he won the battle before.

’He hid, his brother might have hid it as well.’ But with the battle ending, Farhad soon lost interest in the subsequent battles, he just left the area before people noticed his existence.

Well, some had already begun, including a face that Farhad hadn’t seen for a long time, but they chose to remain quiet, there was no reason to make the surrounding eyes curious about their relationship.

"Priest Boman must be waiting, we should leave early." He left the venue and walked to the jeep that was parked outside the college.

The place they were going to be the church of Red Sun on Gregory Street, the very place where the incident happened and took the lives of countless people.

It was to deal with such despair and tragedy that the Mages of Durum finally allowed a church to enter their city, but they only limited their activity to a small place, which was the accursed street, which seemed to have lost all its power after the incident.

"Seems like your outing was eventful?" Priest Boman asked, sipping a cup of tea while giving Amir a deep look.

"I got to see a battle between two heroes, but sadly couldn’t meet any of my old friends." Farhad had no friends, to begin with, nor did they appear on the main campus at all. Most of the occult mages remained hidden inside their underground bunker, busy with their mad experiments.

"I would love to hear what you experienced outside. But we still have some matters to handle." The matters that he mentioned were obviously about the Radiant Order acting out of their bounds and causing mischief.

Or so he might have meant, if not for the news he had received recently. "This is not about Radiant Knights as you might be assuming, but something much worse."

Boman being a Dawn Priest had long received notification from the army about the ghouls, and it won’t be long before the rest of the city learns of the issue as well.

"What has happened, father Boman?" Hearing that the issue was given more priority than the meeting with the Radiant Order, it can be seen how serious the issue can be, it’s why Thorp asked.

"The ghouls, there seemed to be a resurgence on the battlefront, they need all the help they can get." Obviously, the military would never drop their head to ask for help from Third parties if not for the shadow of war over their shoulders.

They needed to be ready for any kind of retaliation while focusing on cleaning work, so they didn’t mind asking for help from all kinds of fronts, including the newly made church, which barely had any proper transcendent besides the ones that brought Farhad here.

Not to mention, in the olden times, it was the Priests’ duty to purify the land and prevent the curse of ghouls from spreading.

It was they who dealt with the uncleaned bodies on the battlefield and gave rest to the dead.

So it wasn’t odd that the Church of Red Sun was being asked for help.

However, there was another reason they were asked for some support.

The reason was none other than Farhad, who carried the flames of Samadhi, capable of purifying the dead completely.

These flames were a direct enemy to the ghouls, so if Farhad were to provide some support, their work could become so much easier.

And hearing such reasoning Farhad couldn’t help but wonder. "Would the Radiant Order be fine with this?" The flames were not his own, they were forced onto him by his father, under the plan of Jester.

Which originally belonged to an old Radiant Knight and had belonged to the Radiant Knights for ages. So in many ways, there is no way Farhad can use those flames on the battlefield without their agreement, not in front of so many people.

"Don’t worry, they will be participating as well." Hearing such words, the eyes of Farhad twisted a bit.

The last time the military, the Church of Red Sun, and Radiant Knights worked together, it caused the death of Ikaros Yethel, which started a whole series of events, whose consequences the people of Cynark are suffering to this day.

It’s that event that Jester’s eyes fell on his father, and in return, Farhad’s old identity of that of a rat named Grifter was exposed to him.

His whole life got twisted for that very reason.

And now, all of them were coming together again?

He recalled the words of Remira, how she had learned more about the disaster that happened last time and how the Radiant Order had cut all of their relations with the military after the incident.’Radiant order would never work with military again... hah.’

But they were doing it again, and using the ghouls as an excuse.

Or so Farhad thought, he had little respect for his country left. There is no way he will ever believe any of their claims at face value. Only by obtaining any kind of proof or seeing with his own eyes would Farhad believe such claims.

These were the kind of thoughts that revolved in Farhad’s head, of which he voiced none. There was no need to drag all of this, and he soon left with the priest and the dusk knights who followed the priest towards the place where his body was once kept in the freezer.

The soldiers were being dispatched by truckload, most of whom carried flamethrowers or harpoon guns.

These were the old methods used when dealing with the ghouls long before the anti-ghoul bullets were made, of course with some modern touches.

As for why not use simple bullets or just blades?

Most of them were useless as ghouls, to begin with, they belonged to a strain of undead, so most of the weapons besides fire were completely useless on them.

As for the anti-ghoul bullets? The reason why they were sidetracked at this point was the scope of the ghoul packs that had formed. There were not enough bullets to begin with and they were only given out to specific personnel for emergency use only.

No one would have ever considered that the ghoul problem would amplify to such limits by the night. But even if they had the supply of those bullets, they barely showed any effect against the hordes of these monsters, It’s as if they have gained a level of immunity to the bullet.

"Night is here, their activity will just get worse." General Vera’s face was blue at this point, he took the map and found countless spots where ghouls were slowly crowding together, and forming what can only be considered a stampede. And with time, this stampede will move towards camps or the barracks to hunt for food if nothing is done on time.

"Dispatch all the commanders to help the camps, we can’t let these create a flaw in our defenses." With those words said, General Vera turned to look at the Knights who had been waiting on the side for him. The kind of Knights he hated a lot, but now, he would have to use them, otherwise, things might go from bad to worse at the moment.

"Knight Vance, I apologize for the delay." the man who appeared in front of him was none other than Vance Clifford, a recently appointed Elder among the Radiant Order of Cynark, as well as the man who was here during the Durum incident that caused massive issues half a decade ago.

From what he knows. It was also that incident that caused the previous head of the barracks to leave his seat.

And now this man is here again, with an equally bigger problem at their head. ’This man is an Omen.’ General Vera had long been aware of the meeting that was to be conducted in the near future, as he was a participant himself, but now, they have to work together with each other.

"There is no need, just show us the direction and we will burn those things alive." To the Radiant Knights, it doesn’t matter who is the one requesting their help, they would even help if it was some ideological enemy, so with the Military that was heading the side of nobles, it was little matter.

Besides, after his last meeting with Knight Ziegart, Vance had started to see value in building friendships with other parties.

You’re not living alone in the world and having one more friend can make things easier.

Just like now, if he were to help the Cynark military to deal with their issue, they would have no choice but to forget about their slight entirely and even be forced to deal with their internal issue themselves.

’This is perfect.’ Thought Vance. Unaware that the issue he treats disgusting simply is not so simple at all.
