Chapter 430: 7.11.3 The Crow Storm.
Even with the backing of a god, nothing can be done if one lacks personal strength to inspire people.
Or strength to scare your opponents.
An overpowering strength that will make your opponent think twice before going against you, which eventually puts them in a passive, and then slowly the choice they have left is either to join the one holding power or die out.
That’s the kind of strength the Bloodcrow possessed.
Depending on the part of the body the crow is summoned from, they would possess a different talent.
For Lucius, his was the eye, making it so that his crow was capable of illusion. Although it was a low-level illusion capable of only fooling those on the same level and below, and easily identifiable by mages of strong mentality or Illusion mages. But in general, the illusion created by the Bloodcrow was enough to fool Amir, who looked like a fool attacking wildly at the air without ever noticing an issue.
’Stupid bastard.’ The nail crows that were born out of Amir seemed dangerous. They were usually used for defense by their family, making them durable and their claws to rival that of the finest quality steel available in the world.
The claws of Amir’s crow shone with dark light, a sign that he was much stronger than a normal nail crow.
But what of it? Lucius thought all of it was useless if you can’t even hit your opponent. Not to mention, while Amir had fallen into his illusion, he summoned two more crows, both being the nail crows.
’A simple battle.’ Although he can’t look out of the Arena, he can already imagine the faces of the attendees gasping at his simple plan.
’So what if you have a strong body... what matters in a battle between the Royals is their bloodline.’ With those thoughts, his attacker crows flew into the air and directly struck Amir’s body.
Lucius intended to end it early, which would be a greater slap to Amir than anything. A humiliation of the kind where he would never be able to show his face again. This is what he was going for.
Of course, all his dreams came crashing down as a ding sound came, and before Amir’s arm flew into the air much faster than the speed of Bloodcrows, he caught them both in his arm. "Oh, you scratched my armor," Amir spoke while turning his head in the direction of his cousin. And this time, it was not the false direction, but the correct one. "There you are, cousin."
The crows did hit him, they hit him right at his stomach, but Amir, felt only a little bit of itch when their claws hit against his flesh, for inside, there was a Crow with giant wings that covered his whole body.
A habit he cultivated just out of paranoia. Making him always ready for any surprise attack that might be thrown his way. "Such a foolish mistake you made there." With a swipe of his finger, Amir urged the crow, which had only been "fighting" very slowly, to attack the empty wall, or so it looked from his perspective.
But from others, there was Lucius, who was already panicking after watching such an absurd scene.
His summoned crows were crushed under Amir’s grasp before he had time to do anything. Before he could even react, Amir’s original crow which had been fighting alone in the air suddenly rushed towards him at a fast speed that seemed a bit too absurd, considering that this was not the kind of speed and agility this crow had shown before.
Which made the whole result obvious to a fault.
"Guess I won." Following such words from Ludwig, who had put something very precious on Gamble for Amir, the eyes of the crowd turned bloody as they saw the Crazy Prince Lucius who had the habit of messing around with people due to his identity pathetically dodge away from the Crow.
Because at the very least, he was still a Master Ranked Knight.
Of course, this is not why Ludwig thought that he won.
"You, my crow." At this moment, the Talons of Amir’s crow had stabbed into the Illusion Crow’s chest, causing it to cry out in the air before turning into a puddle of blood.
"As I expected, you kept it by your side." As for which side, Amir thought with how arrogant this man was, he probably never considered positioning his summons in a better place. Which can be considered a gamble, at which he won. ’This is the fight against another royal.’
And safe to say, that Amir was also disappointed by the whole ordeal. ’Too weak.’
Sure each of the blood crows had strength matching that of a Master Level Knight, making it so that each Royal carried within themselves an entire army of Transcendental beings of the same level. But as it was in reality, the quality always differed between individuals.
At Master rank, it’s generally accepted that you unlock some of the talents of Bloodlines, and for a special bloodline like Amir’s, he could enjoy talents at the very early stages of Adept rank Knight.
But unlike others, who rush to master different kinds of Bloodcrows to increase their army. Amir due to his old habit was always a bit more tactful.
He mastered just three kinds of Crows throughout his life. The Claw Crow, The Armor Crow that was born out of his Arms, and then there was his most special crow, which no one knows about, including his grandfather.
A kind of crow only kept for emergencies in his eyes.
Not to mention, he was unlike other Royals to begin with. He never got the traditional teaching and most of the things he did learn were self-taught. So he never considered the summoned crows part of his strength.
They were just for show, a sign that he was a Royal member, his true strength lay in his body, and the thing he learned from David, the essence of Aura, which would be an overkill to use against a foolish cousin of his.
Besides, Amir counted them on his emergency card, he won’t ever use such techniques in public no matter what happens, so the only thing left was to use a simpler way of dealing with his foolish cousin.
"You lost." After Illusion crow’s death, and the pathetic look of Lucius who seemed to be ready to summon another crow, and this time directly from his tongue. Amir stopped him with these words.
"I haven’t lost yet." He spoke, still finding it hard that after all this while, he lost in such a simple way.
"Your body was easier to attack than the crow beside you, think again, I won’t give you any chance again." At those words, Amir’s crow slowly flew over to Lucius, eyeing him. "If you still want to fight, get ready to lose an eye," Amir warned as kindly as he could.
But Lucius didn’t seem to take his words kindly, there was no way he could back down now. Not after what he said before.
So, he had to take things up a notch, show this cousin his real strength, and let those on the outside know what would happen to those who dared to go against him.
"Amir, my cousin Amir. It’s you forced me to do this." With those words, blood poured out of Lucius’ body bit by bit, slowly forming a cloud over his head.
On the outside, seeing such a scene, there was an outcry by some to stop this match, while there were others who were interested to see what would happen next.
Of course, there was Qubair, who smiled as he said. "Seems like you will be losing the bet."
There were only a total of Four people capable of joining such a bet, and each of them brought out something precious to it. Of course, none could compare to the Sacred Bone that Ludwig put out, but that was something he did to urge others to participate, and the other four willfully brought their best items to the game.
With the winner taking them all at the end.
"Don’t go prematurely speaking things you might regret later... you already made such a mistake with my brother before, don’t repeat it again." There was no need to mention what kind of mistake Ludwig was speaking about, as both were very clear from the start.
Qubair knew full well that he had made a mistake before. He should have waited and seen how the two princes perform during the exercises, before choosing a side. But it’s too late to regret now, things have been done that can’t be taken back.
"I am kind to make the best of what I have at hand, and it seems on this specific front, I win... there is no way for Prince Amir to survive a full onslaught of those crows, unless, of course, he can do the same himself... but considering his body."
There was a reason why there were few among the Bloodcrows who ever had a strong body.
With blood being a currency for summoning the crows, the more one summons the crows, the weaker the summoner would become, making all their hard work in developing a strong body worthless.
Proof of this was shown right in front of everyone as the body of Lucius turned thinner by the minute while the cloud of blood over his head got bigger and chunkier.
A cloud through which multiple crows flew out, circling the arena and surrounding Amir.
