Chapter 426: 7.10.3 The event begins.

But all of them hold value, even the childish ones that might cause some problems from time to time. So I didn’t give this small incident much thought and focused on the inspection.

Which took days to complete, during which I obtained some more samples, including a living one, which kept looking toward a specific direction when left in isolation.

An interesting bit, It’s as if something was beckoning him towards Cynark. Making me feel giddy with hope. But I can’t get so happy prematurely.

I cultivated some pieces of flesh of these ghouls with some nutrient solution and different kinds of mana-treated herbs, which led to some different but interesting results. But the priority still remained on how to kill these things fast, and with some trial and error, along with input from some other researchers, a simple solution was made, which was used to elevate the silver nitrate shells that were previously used for the ghouls.

"It was great working with you all." There was a small party over our discovery and after all was said and done, I resumed my work again, this time, I was focusing on the occult side of things, using rituals and blood transfusions on small animals to understand this mutation at a deeper level.

"They have been influenced by a curse. There is nothing we can do besides killing them." Was the result that I came across, which made me smile.

To most, this would be a frustrating revelation to face. But to me, I understood why this was happening.

"The thousand corpse march... this is perfect."

This was perfect. It was the kind of moment I had been waiting for. Albeit, the chances of it backfiring were a lot higher than I would have allowed. But now that the little seed I had planted finally sprouted, I can’t help but smile.

’This war, we are going to win.’

Just like Jester did on Yethel’s side, it would also take Cynark no time at all to outfit their people with the updated Anti-Undead shells that would be effective on the mutations that the ghouls have gone through. But this would still take some time on their side, as in Cynark’s eyes, the mortal soldiers were not so important anyway. They were there as nothing more than meat shields for the mages and Knights.

Which caused them a delay in discovering the real issue with the ghoul’s time, but that would come later. Currently, Amir was being driven toward the Mage Institute where he had only listened to stories.

Not many people might know, but Amir didn’t like mages as much, as in his eyes, it’s due to the mages and their magic that the science and technology hadn’t been developed to their fullest potential in their world.

Even the great inventor Vekantaraman struggled a lot before he was pushed into the corner and sought refuge in the only people who would choose to listen to him. And now, there are many who regret such a choice, as most of the nations of Brihma had to bow down to Pulgasiri while borrowing their technology and personnel to build factories.

It’s all due to the mages, and Amir believed that if not for those very same mages, his research subject would be more respected.

Of course, not all mages were bad. There were transmutation mages who alone were carrying the weight of innovation in the Mage Society, while even the knowledge that the other Tower Mages have hoarded through their lifetime held its own value, and Amir one day hoped to enter their library to read it all.

But this dream of his would remain a dream for a while at least.

"They are oblivious that the war is at their doorstep." He looked while eyeing the citizens who were living their lives in ignorance before he turned his eyes towards the Mage Institute which was visible from far off due to the tall towers.

The city he had seen before when he initially came here from Luthanza, but the mage institute was something he only noticed at this moment. And in his eyes, it looked beautiful, to say the least.

The event venue was adjacent to the Tower of Arcana, meaning inside the Mage Institute. Which seemed to have gone through a renovation, as the bricks still seemed new.

But Amir knew that the renovation was much deeper than one might think.

Dream Disaster which took the life of over ten thousand people was led by a terrorist group by the name of Blue Lotus. But not many didn’t knew how much deeper Blue Lotus had crawled into the institution that made up Durum, with the Tower Master of Arcana Holfaraz being a true traitor to his country who didn’t bat an eye while killing the very people he taught.

This became the reason for massive reputational damage for the Mage Institute, specifically the Tower of Arcana, as they suffered from most damage, with their leader being the chief culprit as well.

And in order to fix the issue of their reputation and show the world that they still remain strong. They sent out their most talented students to the battlefield to earn a name for them. And then they chose to lead this whole event by themselves, taking responsibility for countless Noble Children and even Three Princes, to show how dependable they can be.

Of course, such specifics were out of reach for Amir. He knew as much as his grandfather and Ludwig had told him, nothing more and nothing else.

He was just here to do his job.

"Prince Amir Rehan Bloodheart has arrived at the venue." Announced the Herald to the public in the venue, who all turned their head to Amir with some interest. Appearing somewhat surprised that he would visit and some showing disappointment over how mediocre he looked.

And the sharpest of such disappointment was found among the noble ladies who had traveled far and wide to the event just to meet the heroes of tomorrow. And in their eyes, Amir who appeared as a muscle freak on the surface was vulgar.

But none dared to voice out their opinion, some even smiled at him while hiding their thoughts considering that Amir, at the end of the day, still was a Prince of Cynark.

A being at a much higher level than them.

But why should any of it matter to Amir? He was just here to enjoy his time and hopefully find some others like him.

Of course, he knew that it was next to impossible.

’All chose to stay away from me.’ The distance between these nobles and him was noticeable. They didn’t dare to approach him for one reason or another, and Amir would never lower himself to seek company among these nobodies, he just looked to the side and found Ludwig among a group of three other people.

One man and two women.

From their clothes, Amir can ascertain that before their identities as Nobles, these three were probably prouder of their accomplishments as a mage. It’s the only reason why they would wear a robe in this venue.

So Amir didn’t shy away from them and walked to Ludwig who pointed his glass to Amir while saying. "I expected you to be busy with your work, but it seems you still hold some interest in socializing." Ludwig appeared much calmer and simpler than he appeared to Amir.

At this moment, he even carried a level of regal air about him, which happened for the third time in his life. ’So he knows how to conduct himself in public at least.’

"Cousin brother, let me introduce you to my friends here." Ignoring the gazes of the surrounding nobles, Ludwig introduced the three mages to Amir. "They are the top students from Tower of Transmutation... "

Hearing the term Tower of Transmutation, a smile blossomed on Amir’s face. ’They are here as well?’ This was to be expected for those who have taken part in the event in previous years. But it was only this year that the identity of those that came here was much higher than the last years.

Ignoring the children of Various dukes and even the Three Princes. Other Towers beside Arcana didn’t like how the two supernova Mages from Tower of Arcana, Qubair and Sehra were taking all the attention and acting as if those two were the only geniuses in the whole Mage institute.

So using the excuse that this whole event was convened inside the mage institute, it also gave the other mage towers an excuse to send their own brightest to the event, just to suppress the tower from the tower of Arcana.

And that’s what these three were here for.

The three would never have expected that the Prince who appeared as a Blurry Giant would turn talkative after learning their identity, even surprising Prince Ludwig who was on the side, as he talked about mechanics right in the middle of the event.

And when asked about how he knew so much, Amir just smiled and explained. "I am currently working with your senior, Wilhelm Faust. I heard he was a direct disciple of Tower Master Venglebod?"

At the mention of the name Venglebod, the faces of the trio lit up with interest. They have heard about this senior of theirs and his feats. Sadly due to some misunderstandings, their master had thrown Faust out of the tower. A massive mistake in the eyes of countless instructors, who only speak about the event with some regret.

But none dare to voice out their opinion over the matter easily in fear of Venglebods wrath. So the three could only laugh with a pained expression. "I would love to visit your workshop in the future." Or at least the two of them. Among the trio, one of the girls who went by the name Jehera showed some interest in Amir’s words.
