Chapter 410: 7.06.2 A simple idea.
The Mage armor was fun to ride, Amir won’t deny this. But was it necessary?
Amir didn’t think so.
There were many differences between the Mages as well as the Knights. And these differences made it so that both paths were barred from enjoying certain luxuries that the other does.
And Amir believed that this mage armor was one of them.
"The dwarven armor sets will still be preferred over your creations for most knights. Certain things are just not made for everyone."
Faust, hearing such words wanted to say that he was preaching to the wrong person. This very fact was completely understood by Faust, but the issue was that there were not many mages in this world to begin with.
And those who could be trained to fight on a battlefield were even less, considering that most mages would prefer to join a Tower, and if they were to fight, they would fight from the backlines under the protection of Knights.
There is a reason why Mages were considered the Nobles among the transcendent. For all the strength they possess, which exceeds Knights on the same level, the only way they can show their true potential is when they are under the protection of a bunch of Knights, otherwise, they are easily dealt with when exposed in the open.
It’s why Faust created the Mage armor, turning the mages into a walking tank without the need for a Knight’s protection.
Not to mention, with the Mage Armor, they can match the Knights in strength and still be capable of blasting their spells without worry of retaliation under the cover of multiple armor plates.
"So what do you say, as a Knight and someone who learned the mechanics, what do you think would be a better option," Faust asked, not expecting any real answer, as he had already obtained the blueprints for the battery that Amir created, which when merged with his own alchemical knowledge and some magic, he can create a small portable battery which might help the armor run at full capacity for half an hour at least. Which was a lot better compared to before.
Of course, that battery was still in the prototype stage and that was just an expected limit. He can’t confirm its efficacy for now, but he knew that he was going in the right direction.
As for Amir, hearing his question he wondered for a bit.
He mused over the question, which was not his first time doing it. The moment he learned of Faust’s goal, he knew that such a bulky design made for mages wouldn’t work for Knights, who prefer mobility in the world with guns.
The Mage Armor can boast itself to be capable of matching the strength of a powerful Knight, but it can never compare the Knight in mobility and reaction time. It was virtually impossible for a machine to ever make such absurd movements that a human body was capable of making.
Kind of movement that most knights adopted as the age of guns came around, making the strength of a Knight obsolete at range.
"The Knights don’t need defenses of the level that Mages need, nor do they need strength, so remove all the useless things, and make the armor shorter, so that it fits the body perfectly. Just like a Normal Steel armor of the old, but with some modern innovations."
"That is a thought even I had, but not possible for now..."
"No issue in making an external skeleton for this kind of armor, much smaller in size than the one you use for Mage armor... we can check up on the rest."
Though the two couldn’t come to any answer, the discussion was still considered fruitful by the two.
Specifically, Faust had started to consider Amir, a man much younger than him as his equal.
Although Amir had no understanding of Magic Alchemy, his understanding of mechanics and the perspective brought by the fact that he was a Knight did help Faust a lot. Considering how rare it was to find a Knight who was as learned as Amir was.

It wasn’t like Amir was just helping Faust around. With Faust’s help, he was able to meet up with some helpers who appeared a bit uptight in front of Amir who was a Prince. They did help Amir in finding the things he was looking for.
Which made the work progress of Amir a lot faster than Faust’s, who was still stuck on his own project.
This was understandable, considering that the Engine that Amir wished to build already worked, the only thing it lacked was Torque making it somewhat useless. Which was why he made the initial request from Faust, to begin with.
And his idea did work, as the results were already out in some sense.
"One to seven, most are still not strong enough." Though disappointed with the materials and his creations, he was still able to make General Vera happy in the coming week with his creations.
And through some ingenuity, he even put some metal flaps on one of his engines and made an Electric fan, which didn’t make a sound as long as the battery through which it ran was charged regularly.
"This thing of yours is wonderful... I wonder if you plan to commercialize it?" Enjoying the cool air from the fan, the childish Vera asked with some interest.
’This Prince seems capable enough.’ Vera knew by this point, he couldn’t look down on his prince like he had done on many others, including that Ludwig who seemed to be playing some sort of game, which Vera was not interested in.
But this other prince was a lot better than the ones before, he did come out as arrogant initially, but now that he sees it, Vera understands that all that arrogance had a reason to exist.
"Not every home has mages to charge the batteries... few could afford it."
"Who says to sell it to the commoners, there are many nobles that will pay a handsome fee to obtain something so unique." Ignoring some lower nobles, most of the major noble families burn countless amounts of money to keep their homes at a moderate temperature.
During the summers, they would employ mages to create dry ice, which was used to cool up their room. During the winters, they just used regular wood to stave off the cold, making it so that the winter was much easier on their pocket in comparison to the summers.
"Just think about it, this can be treated as a Luxury Item." As General Vera spoke such words, Amir started to wonder just what kind of General this man was.
He appeared more like a businessman at this point. But Amir didn’t bother speaking such words.
Excusing himself with an "I will think about it." He left the General’s office, considering now he has earned his place in Section 32.
*****
A few more days went by and Amir started to get used to life in the barracks.
Although his schedule was all over the place, with the absence of Burghim who hounded him into becoming the perfect prince, Amir was the happiest he ever was, considering in this place of war, where countless people die regularly, Amir was living the best days of his life.
Now the only thing that will make his life better would be his Grandfather’s arrival. That would be the moment he can take the burden of Hemant’s life off his chest.
But such thoughts were not shared by Centi, who appeared kinder and kinder as time went by.
His life in the barracks was easier than before. With a Prince as his backing, he can use the excuse of going on errands to map out multiple areas in the barracks as well as surrounding areas.
Though some core areas were still out of bounds and some people already were suspicious of his motives, Centi didn’t mind them at all. He just did as his heart desired and even helped some simple soldiers while he was on his "errands" just to earn their goodwill.
Making him somewhat popular among the lower-level soldiers, who treated him as ’One of the good ones’.
A noble Knight that doesn’t discriminate nor treat them like slaves.
However, what they didn’t know was Centi’s reason for doing all such good deeds was not so simple.
’Found a bunch more.’
Potential recruits, that’s who he was looking for.
Although he had recruited some core members, due to his position and fear of being found out, he kept such actions at a minimum.
But now with the backing of Amir, he was freer than ever before to conduct his mission and recruit more people to the cause.
People who can look away in case the rebels choose to raid certain places.
Or even help them by giving appropriate intelligence that would cause a devastating blow to Cynark’s military might.
And through his time in these recent weeks, the best place to hit had already been confirmed by Centi. The only issue was that the security around that area was a lot thicker than the barracks itself.
Of course, we are talking about section 32, which currently housed the strongest anti-personnel weapon in the whole barracks.
The legendary Mage Armors needs to be destroyed if the revolution were to happen.
’I need to obtain blueprints of that place... how can I make use of that foolish prince for this?’ Centi wondered for a bit before he recalled his master’s meeting with some other prince. A prince with a higher reach and connections than his own master.
’This might work.’
