Chapter 395: 7.02.2 Desperation.
The world is a stupid place, but people can be even stupider.
That was the case with Farhad.
Knowing full well how Luthanza dealt with strangers, he still dared to use the direct approach and exposed himself to danger just because these were his own people.
A foolish choice. But he definitely thought that with his reasoning and not harming the soldiers, they might still buy his story. And even if they don’t. The retaliation won’t be as bad as it is now.
Which would have been right if not for the attack on Luthanza a month ago that shook the nation of Cynark.
Now, any suspicious activity was dealt with in full force and the Cynark military even used overkill methods to ensure that no accidents happened during their operations.
And such was the case now. After confirming that the opponents were Adepts, Multiple adepts, and a Master Rank were dispatched to deal with the stranger that walked into their territory during such strenuous times.
"The ones inside, walk out with your hands above your head, and don’t try to make any suspicious moves." Said the only Adept that acted as the leader among the soldiers. He was the bait. Letting their enemies think that the military was not treating them seriously, which might just expose the true intentions of these people if they were to attack.
But Farhad was not in the mood for such games. Although he didn’t understand full well what was going on and why such a sudden change in treatment, he knew that he couldn’t escalate the issue no matter what happened.
So, under the agreement of Remira, who gave him a nod. Farhad was the first to walk out, followed by Remira who hid in his back.
The reason is simple as well. If these people were to turn violent, then Farhad, who holds the talent for regeneration would be the one to shield Remira from harm.
It’s with such an intent that Farhad dared to move out with Remira while speaking. "I am Farhad Maisel, Son of Marshal Varkus Maisel from Wortham, my associate is the one who helped in my rescue, Knight Wyrmwood from Radiant Order. We don’t mean any harm." He spoke out first. Showing his intent of subservience.
There was no need to act strong in front of officials who appeared a bit jumpy from the looks of it.
Which was correct considering that the force that came here to deal with them was a bit too much.
And hearing the names, the soldier appeared a tad bit confused. He seemed to be thinking to himself, but Farhad understood from the man’s expression that he was probably convening with the Master Rank who was hiding among the troop.
"Son of Varkus, we can’t confirm who you are at the moment. But I am to assume you wish to stand down?"
"Correct, My associate was poisoned during my rescue, and They did something bizarre with me, I can’t walk out in the sun," Farhad said while putting his hand out in the sunlight, but before he could, the sound of a gun clock came from the side. "Don’t make any weird moves." Warned the soldier.
But Farhad sighed and explained. "I just wished to show you the proof that I am harmless in the sun. Unable to put up a fight even if I want to."
The fights among transcendent depend a lot on information on the opponent. Not one bloodline is universal nor one path can overcome all. There are always weaknesses prone to each path and generally, people hide them in case their enemies use that weakness to counter them.
But for Farhad to expose it so willingly, showed that he really wished to not escalate the situation and even gave his weakness out in case the soldiers still thought he was dangerous.
After that, as Farhad expected, after confirming that Farhad was just showing that he meant no harm, he let Farhad prove what he said. He did by exposing his harm to the sun, causing it to sizzle right under the eyes of the soldiers, who were prone to superstitions, whispering that there was a devil in Farhad’s body or something even more dangerous was just waiting to pounce at them the moment they put down their guard.
But the officer leading these soldiers thought nothing of it. Superstitions are caused by a lack of knowledge and understanding. And most of the time, these soldiers were barely literate not understand how the world truly functions, so this was normal in his eyes.
But what was not normal was the fact that Farhad still kept his companion at his back.
’Whoever this Farhad is, it’s impossible for him to be with a Radiant Knight and remain unharmed after showing such a display of corruption.’ Some things don’t add up. Knowing the nature of Radiant Knights, who are zealots when it comes to dealing with anything occult and curses.
Why hasn’t she dealt with this so-called Son of Varkus till now?
Something was definitely odd and suspicious. And it had nothing to do with her being poisoned. As a Knight would die before helping someone in Farhad’s situation. So why would a Knight get poisoned to save Farhad?
This was one oddity that Farhad had no way to explain unless he exposed things about the flames and why it mattered.
But as always, it’s better not to ask such questions among so many common soldiers. Not to mention, he needs to keep the opponent’s guard down and not let them make any stupid moves. So he asked again.
"Tell us your purpose of being here. How did you come here and why?"
"Slavers, I hijacked their ship and killed all of them after docking. But some still managed to escape into the seas." Farhad said with some disappointment. But he never said where these slavers might have escaped to.
And hearing Farhad’s answer, a drop of sweat also dropped from the officer’s forehead.
He was well aware of the activity of the slaver sin Luthanza, which happens right under his nose. But this was not a matter to be discussed among so many commoners, specifically the Master Rank knight who was at his back.
But it was already too late. The moment Farhad spoke such words, a figure walked out from the back of the soldiers, appearing nonchalant, but the officer knew he might have messed up.
"I wonder if you would be able to back up these words of yours?" Captain Jandug Perseus, a man who had just recently joined the military operations of Luthanza due to a sudden need for extra personnel in order to capture spies that might be lurking in the land.
And it is said, he was also the 2nd Knight of a certain Prince, who had only sent his knight on a job in order to earn some honor for himself.
"Of course, but I hope you can contact Radiant Order and explain to them that Knight Wyrmwood requests help."

Amir thought he was back to his school days, still living with his parents and barely scraping by in a small house where there was only a single living room, which also acted as his bedroom, while the rest of the house only comprised a bathroom and a kitchen, that’s it.
One can even say that Amir considered himself lucky that he never had to share the toilet with many others in his situation, considering how poor he used to be.
But in hindsight, it might all have been the plan of his Grandfather, who just put enough desperation in him, but not too much.
And the same was the case here in the barracks. With his identity, he was afforded a personal room. But this room was smaller than the house he used to live in, nor was there any kitchen, only a bathroom with a tub in it, along with a connected toilet on the side.
Such a treatment of royals would be considered blasphemous for some. And it’s generally the case that some noble sons and Royals had thrown tantrums when they had been punished to roam the battlefields.
But Amir didn’t mind all of this one bit. A small room felt almost cozy to him and not hollow like the mansion he used to live in Planc Colony.
Not to mention, this place had no Burghim dictating every part of his life. Intending to make him into someone he was not.
But enough about such small details, the issue was the Knight who Amir met last night.
Opening the door, he found the Knight called Sarlen Tattka, First Knight of Prince Ludwig Von Bloodcrow.
"You waited for the whole night?" Amir wondered. The Knight nodded in response, explaining how he couldn’t go back until Amir followed him to his Master.
But Amir was not in the mood to do such a thing. "I have to visit General Vera to get my appointment. Followed by visiting the place of appointment. Which means, you might have to wait till tomorrow." Amir explained, but Sarlen didn’t budge one bit and only answered. "Then I wish to wait for you here."
Although Amir felt a tad bit bad, considering his Master might have relations with Jester, the most appropriate thing to do at this point is to wait it out.
He still needs to put on an act of nonchalance so that the opponent doesn’t think he is desperate.
Otherwise, when they eventually meet, the power would be in Prince Ludgwig’s hand. And this is not what Amir wants.
