Chapter 376: 6.11.3 Stop the fight.
Since the incident, things changed on the ship for us. The captain appeared cordial on the surface, but his hatred for us was noticeable, to say the least.
Then there was the issue with food, generally, they would leave the food at our doorstep every day, but since the incident, I went to get the food on my own and faced some weird gazes thrown my way.
I can see what they were thinking. ’How dare he.’ Such blatant hatred would generally be met by a proper response from my end. But a dead man can’t steer the ship, so it was important for me to hold myself back, for a bit at least.
On the other hand, let’s talk about the food itself.
Since the cook was dead, the quality obviously dropped. And with how suspicious I have become since the last incident, I never actually took the precooked meal by them. I just took enough for three people and boiled it in the cabin where I lived with Number Two and Captain. Of which, I ate nothing.
Food was not a necessity for me, some water would sustain me enough as long as I don’t use my mutations.
And in case I do so, all I would need to do is secretly consume some of the flesh of the fallen around me. But for now, it is enough.
"I have seen the land, it would take at most a day before we reach the Cynark."
I told number two of what I saw over the horizon just now, which surprised her a bit from the looks of her face. And I can understand why. "You could see that far in the night?"
One can’t imagine how lonely and horrific the seas are at night. The isolation mixed with darkness gives birth to many bad thoughts and due to the fact of this being an illegal slaving vessel, none could dare to use lanterns to illuminate the ship, making only the stars in the sky the only source of illumination.
"I am as surprised as you... I know as much about my current as you do." I explained to Number Two that Show shown me some envy. But I don’t want to point it out for one reason alone.
Only I know what I have lost in order to obtain such a body.
While Captain, she was her usual self, a bit more energetic than before, but still not fully recovered. Which may be why she was so silent for now.
Or did she hate me? I can’t say for certain at this point.
But to my surprise, she did say something. "We will kill them all when the time comes." She said as a small fire blossomed on her hand.
"Captain, you don’t need to involve yourself in this, I can handle them all on my own," I explained. At this point, there is no hope for the captain to stop me, I have chosen to use the curse that was forced upon me. At least until my eventual end, I can do some good.
But Captain seemed adamant on her will.
To her, the very fact that she was forced to lower herself in order to survive in front of slavers was shameful enough. And when the very same slavers tried to mess with her not too long ago, the knife she had hidden all this while was unsheathed. She was going for the kill, I can see it in her eyes.
"The shame I felt Farhad, you won’t understand it." No more words were necessary, Among the tales I have heard of Radiant Knight, no, Knights in general. They were a crazy bunch that died for their honor and pride. To them bringing shame upon their creed was the greatest crime they could commit.
Death would be better than this, and Captain Remira might be of the same mind, which made me think. Didn’t Number Two think of the impact that this would have on Captain?
But then again, it was the same for me to some extent, I hated this ship, and its people who treated humans like commodities. But living here for so long and facing the fact that these slavers only existed because Cynark allowed it.
And Yethel where this ship started from just exploited the system for its own profit. This was probably Jester’s Idea, as he loved doing whatever he could to create chaos in the enemy country.
’I don’t even know who to side with at this point.’ Though self-serving when it came to my family. As long as they are not implicated, It’s easy for me to never help my country.
They were monsters responsible for creating even worse monsters. If not for Cynark, the Jester I see might be much different than the one I remember.
It’s their desire for control that regressed all the growth Jester had, bringing all this chaos to the world.
"You are correct captain, I don’t understand what a Knight’s honor is. Nor do I fully grasp the concept of Pride, for I never had that to begin with." I spoke my mind at this point. "But I understand one thing. Live now and fight another day... you are not fine captain, you might be able to create those flames of yours, but my eyes can see into a person’s vitality." I say pointing toward my eyes.
"I can smell a person’s freshness," I say pointing toward my nose.
"And my tongue can grasp a person’s taste," I say while making a small laugh. "And you’re looking very tasty at this very moment," I said something disgusting, but there was no sexual desire in my voice. No, it was closer to a hunter looking at its prey.
"Hold your tongue Farhad, this is not how you should talk to Captain Remira." Number Two spoke up, not understanding that this was not an innuendo, but my true feelings towards Captain.
Who seemed to have understood what I was meaning to convey." And how did you see me before?"
"Poisonous, I knew that consuming a part of you would cause me immense pain... of course before, I always kept such emotions and thoughts away, just to maintain my own sanity."
I had a craving for flesh, raw and rotten flesh that might seem disgusting to others, but it sounds delectable to me for some reason.
"You currently reek of death. Your blood vessels are clogged, which in turn degenerates your muscles. Even if free of all that poison, it would still take you months before you truly recover." The body craves death and the current captain is someone closer to it, so I can tell she is in no shape or form to fight.
"Is this how you see me? Weak?" Insecurity was flowing out of Captain’s words. This was the first time I had seen her like this. So weak, so childish.
I presume with her power, she never gets to experience such a moment of invulnerability. As before, it was always her at the forefront facing threats that reached the level one can’t even fathom. All due to her monstrous talent, which I have seen before.
"This is how everyone would treat you if you plan to fight like before... rest a bit, recover your strength. This is the only way to ensure the safety of yourself, as well as those around you." I never would have expected to say these words to Captain, but here I was.
And she knows it as well.
In this world weakness is sin. And if you are weak, you have to keep your head down in order to not be noticed, otherwise, you might incur problems yourself.
And no one knows this fact more than me, for I had been a victim most of my life.
As for Captain? I don’t believe such a person would have ever had such an experience before. So it’s better for her to stay silent and keep to herself.
However, my words seemed to be a bit too harsh as Captain stopped eating and just closed her eyes where she sat.
"You should learn how to talk to a lady." Number Two said with some disappointment, but I just shook my head with her. Although I didn’t like her sisterly support for the captain. At least she was the one who understood one limits and remained at the back. Making her a much better companion than the captain, who still hasn’t woken up from her glory days.

’The growth of Uncle’s pet is much extensive than I had thought, guess living in our city did change him a bit.’ Selene enjoyed this little scuffle. It’s always fun to watch those with power lose their everything and then be forced to depend on others whom they once considered lower than themselves.
A kind of mentality that a noble Knight like Remira might try to hide, but I can see it, even uncle could see it. It’s why he was able to exploit it so easily.
And it was my time now. The work that my uncle has been doing, I will complete it. I will be the one to add the finishing touches to his masterpiece and then bring someone else’s masterpiece down to the gutters.
"You two, can’t you just listen to each other and try to understand each other points? Listening is such a basic ability, but it would seem that both of you are incapable of it." In a familiar tone, I spoke as if I was speaking to friends or family members.
"Instead of talking about gloomy subjects like killing, look at the bright side, we survived. We are out of that place."
