Chapter 373: 6.10.3 Looking forward to the meeting.
Maher and the other two just scoffed at my claims. Calling me arrogant for flaunting how I learned a new language in just two years’ time. Which they were not wrong.
This was the character of Crow I was building, an arrogant youngster with a cruel streak who wished to be adored by others. This was a flaw I have built for Crow, a flaw makes you more human.
And while we were having such fun, Sheva was doing her job as expected.
"I won’t help you until you ensure my survival."
"But I already did, a big figure is interested in your talents, and if you coordinate according to our will, you might just gain more than you lose in this transaction."
"A transaction?"
"You can treat it as one, not like you have any choice here anyway." Negotiations were not Sheva’s department, but the fact of the matter was, none in their group actually held any negotiation training. All of them were closer to enforcers more than anything.
Leaving this work on Sheva’s shoulder.
"Who... who are you?"
"You won’t get the answer to it unless you show your value. So will you do it?’
Paradi turned silent for a bit, he knew there was no way out, nor was there any trust between them that he would believe in the words that there were people interested in him. They might just be lies to take to make him put down his guard. Which he can’t afford, not after what he saw what that dwarven boy was capable of.
Don’t fall for his childish smile and arrogance that he showed while carrying Paradi to the Slaver hideout in contrast with the brutality and astuteness when dealing with his men were miles apart.
Even for him, such a contrasting mood change in such a short amount of time looked absurd.
And if these words were spoken by him, he would have never treated them as truth. But from the mouth of this giant woman?
The coercion he felt from her was closer to suffocating him, he could feel it, he could sense his own demise in front of this woman who appeared as stable as a mountain. ’She is dangerous.’ Thought Paradi, before bowing his head in defeat.
"Oh, you are smarter than you look." Said Remira, ordering Canary to lead him to one of those slaves Penn, where Paradi was originally going to keep his own slaves.

On the slaver’s ship, right outside of Remira’s room. A bunch of sailors had fallen to the floor, crying in pain, while a mutant monster held the corpse of one man in his hand. "Is this how you treat your guests, captain?" The monster spoke in a kind tone, almost absent of the aggression that his body was exuding, giving the Captain of the ship a sense of oddity from Farhad.
But that was all, like Farhad, he too was an Adept-level Knight. And a powerful one at that."The drunks lose all sense of reason, it’s the right of sober gents like you to manage them properly..." The captain looked around in disappointment. "Look at this, you broke the hands of our deckhands, wouldn’t it become harder for us to sail the ship?"
"Not to mention, the one you are holding is our cook, now dead... who will handle his job anymore?"
"If you expected recompense, then you are looking at the wrong person." Farhad threw the body to the side, as his body mutated further, turning larger and overpowering the figure of the captain while causing various of the slaver sailers to cry in fear.
But this was all normal for Farhad since the moment he came to accept his reality.
He was a monster and there was no need to hide it.
"I apologize, sir, I was just explaining the problem this little scuffle has risen. Our speed might slow down due to it."
"No worries, just keep this trash away from the cabin, as my companions and I have been promised."
With those words, Farhad’s body shrunk as he picked his shirt from the ground and went back into the room, acting as if nothing happened.
But the scratches and blood over the deck were signs enough of the struggle that happened on the deck just now.
"Captain... he..."
"What captain, just get up and get back to work... and throw the Doto’s body to the fishes."
The slaver captain was angered, but due to circumstances and the strength that the bodyguard of those two ladies showed, he stood no chance against him.
Meaning the best course of action was to gulp down the anger and humiliation and wait till the ship reaches shore.
There should be Paradi waiting there for this man, and together with Paradi and his men, he would easily take out this man.
Then who knows, he might just go and sell those two women after enjoying them himself.
******
"There was no need to kill him." Number two spoke while sighing over Farhad’s action.
He directly chose to ignore her and then asked Remira. "What do you think captain, was what I did the right choice?" Getting no answer in response.
"So disappointed are we?" Farhad asked, before going to a corner and closing his eyes.
Things were not going well between the three of them.
Whether it was the sea or the fact that they were on the ship of vulgar degenerates who sold flesh to other degenerates.
Being on the ship and utilizing their services just made them feel dirty. It felt as if they were indirectly involved in the slave trade, by paying off these people just so they could travel using their ship.
Made worse by the fact that some malcontent slavers had been keeping an eye on their room, waiting to strike when Farhad was away. But of course, their first attempt ended up turning into their last, with lots of losses on their end.
And using that as an excuse, Farhad took out his anger on all these people. He even wished to finish them off, if not for the little bit of reasoning remaining in his head that told him not to do it.
Someone needs to steer this ship, manage the slaves, and clean the blood from that cook of theirs.
’Is this me? Or is it his influence?; Farhad thought some more, before shaking his head and looking at Number Two. The woman suggested this whole ugly idea, to begin with.
’Hah...’ Before he shook his head.
The woman seemed familiar with the situation of ships like these and as he heard from some nostalgic ramblings of this woman, none of those memories seemed to be kind ones.
And if those were truly painful memories as he had expected, then she wouldn’t have chosen this path unless absolutely necessary.
Making Farhad face his prejudice against her and know that not only he was suffering on this ship.
But Farhad also knew, there was someone who was a lot angrier over the circumstances than him in this current situation.
’She never let go of the blade... the surrounding air is warm as well. A sign she is recovering.’ Front this scene alone, Farhad knew that if he were to let one of the slavers walk into this room, he might not know how he died.
’But why not answer me?... is she disappointed?’ Recalling Jester’s earlier words and how he said this woman didn’t wish for him to develop, it would make sense that she wouldn’t talk to him when he used the curse-given power so freely.
A sign of his experience in using his powers. Added to the fact that he killed without remorse while being in complete control of his psyche. Probably made the situation look much worse in Remira’s eyes.
But now, she won’t bother to blame him. For one, the situation called for it, and holding back in such a situation would only increase their difficulty later on. So dealing with any threat the moment it shows its head, is a top priority.
’He is out of my hands.’ Remira knew that nothing could be done at this point. Farhad has learned about his talents and all he needs is time to develop said talents. Which was Jester’s purpose to begin with.
But no worries, although her words didn’t hold much value anymore, they wouldn’t be the same as soon as she joined her Order. Or at least meet them.
She has too much to tell them, too much to expose, too much to warn.
Even if they kicked her out of the Order, It doesn’t matter. She was and will always be a Radiant Knight, no matter what anyone says. And she will fight the world for her creed, even if her own order were to go against the creed.
’Uncle, this small trip of mine seemed to be progressing very well.’ Smiled Selene, appreciating the distance that had formed between the two companions.
’Isn’t this perfect? Much better than Uncle planned.’ She knew her uncle, how limited he was in his growth due to lacking a proper physical body hence lacking the ability for mental growth.
Which made it impossible for him to truly understand human relations, and how to break them.
’You don’t break them by pulling them apart... you break them by putting them together and forced into a frustrating scenario.’ Although appearing like a kind rosy girl, the true nature of Selene, the princess of Yethel is much more sinister than one might think.
’If the plan went as planned, then we would be meeting them soon enough.’ She thought while looking out of the cabin window at the distance horizon. Waiting for her meeting with her uncle.
