Chapter 370: 6.09.3 Know your place.

Carrying a broken body that was barely alive, I came to an impasse. "You know, you made some stuff a bit problematic."

Jed was in no state to answer, his limbs were ripped apart, and if not for cauterizing his injuries before he bled out, Jed might have already taken his last breath. "Do you know, we were just four people... only four. And now with me being here. Each one of them would have to follow one of each... hah I guess I have to help Maher. That fool would not be able to handle the combo of a curse user and an apprentice Knight easily."

Cursing the brain of this little fella. I sighed as my body morphed from that of a human to that of a dwarf.

"You stay here." Leaving this boy with banned blood on the side, I looked toward the drop of petrol that had left a trail in the distance. ’Not too long.’

While our battle continued, I requested my rats to do some damage to the vehicles, mainly the fuel lines. So it won’t be long before they come to a stop.

And as I expected, I soon came across a fight scene.

"Just you alone?" My body turned and twisted before turning to that of a young girl while asking the man who fought alone with Maher, who was none other than Reni.

Fighting against Maher with everything he had, who in turn just treated the fight as a child’s game.

"Mistress, you are here?" Maher said, seeing me.

All my men were learned in the way of acting, they were experienced to never let the flow of events break. And Maher just did that, instead of being surprised by my cute look.

"Struggling even now, Maher? Will you lose like the cow from before?"

"Don’t worry about him Mistress, I was just delaying him for you." Maher then added. "Oh yes, the other one should be lurking in the grass. I hope you can take care of him."

Reni, listening to all these words suddenly had no energy to fight again.

A naked woman with dark satin-like skin, she appeared bizarre, almost out of this world. The way she spoke and the way she moved made Reni understand one thing. ’There is no survival.’

On edge since leaving the scene from before. Reni really had the delusion that he was going to survive.

And by the time he noticed how fast the fuel gauge in his jeep was dropping, it was already too late, as Maher had attacked, bringing Paradi and Reni to their knees. "I will hide and curse him from the back." Was the excuse that Paradi made, before leaving Reni to fend off the enemy on his own while he made an escape.

"I can handle him," Maher said, easily catching Reni’s sword in his hand with a smile on his face.

"You..." Reni looked in horror, feeling the sword heavy, even his clothes felt heavy for some reason.

’I am weak.’ He was weak and Maher was going to enjoy this feast, so he let the sword go and said. "Come again."

And as Maher enjoyed his feast, not care about the lurking Paradi anymore. I walked deep into the field of wheat, looking around and feeling the refreshing wind in the air. "Paradi, I know where you are. So just come out. Don’t make me do things that I did with Jed."

"..."

Instead of an answer, all I got in return was a bullet. Which was aimed at my body. "Hah, don’t you learn anything?" My body mutated again, but as it was night, none of it entered Reni’s eyes.

Whale Paradi, the scene was a familiar one. "You are the one from before." He said standing up from the ground.

He has shot his shot, and the backlash of curses has arrived, making even his movement a struggle. ’Hah.’

There was no chance to survive this monster and Paradi has come to accept that reality. "What are you?" He asked as he got up from the ground with feeble steps. "Why are you after me?" This shape-changing monster was unlike anything he had ever seen.

Paradi even wondered if the monkey he saw before was this being, to begin with.

And hearing his question, on the back a scream came as a knife was thrust into Reni’s heart, ending his life once and for all. Making Paradi take a gulp in fear of what he just witnessed.

It was not the death of his sort of acquaintance that scared him, but the realization that it might be him in a few minutes. So he needs to use words properly. He needs to eke out a survival out of this no matter what.

"As I said, I want you... and if you have followed me since the start, there would be no need for so much cruelty." I said, sighing at the tortured death of Reni and the happy face of Maher, who seemed to have enjoyed this fight. "See that friend of yours, he could have died a peaceful death..."

"You never intended to spare us?"

"Them... I never intended to spare them. But you... hohoho! You are a special one, the only one with actual value." As I spoke Maher walked from the back and whispered a few words in my ears. Words explaining a fact that I already knew, so I just nodded to him and asked Maher. "Go and bind the great merchant Paradi."

I ordered him. And Paradi accepted with a sigh on his face. A curse user sealing him almost meant his doom.

There was no dialog later on, my body changed from that of a woman to a young child, which disturbed Paradi to no limit.

He didn’t know what kind of bloodline I possessed and why I had no limits in my transformations. But he remained quiet, wondering what sort of value does he possess in his captor’s eyes.

"The names, are you looking for names?" From names, he obviously meant others involved in this business. And I knew, there must be many nobles and even some mages involved, otherwise, it would be impossible for a small figure like him to earn a passage through Luthanza so easily and not be picked up by multiple spies that lived in the villages.

A fact that I knew perfectly due to being the owner of some shell company involved in these operations. And as is generally the case, you would need some friends in high places if you intend for these operations to go smoothly. And that’s how I came to learn who these people were.

"No names, I am not interested in something so basic," I replied to Paradi before dragging him to where I had left Jed.

And lo and behold, there were some interested people waiting there for me already.

"Who?" They looked startled.

Mortals as they were, both of them carried a proper weapon in their hand. ’One shot pistol.’ A gun that used actual bullets.

"Luthanzan dogs... why couldn’t you wait for a few more minutes, you might have lived," I say to them, who looked at me in horror as my body turned bigger and monstrous.

"Run." Shouted Paradi from the back, but his cries went unheard in the ears of the two fools who tried to shoot me to death.

"It stings," I said, before ripping the bodies of these two apart.

The more brutal the deaths, the less chance of them being considered a human conflict.

Ignoring the horrified gaze of the Slave Master, I approached Jed, who seemed to have moved from where I had originally left him. "So cruel for those two to move you. It must have hurt, doesn’t it?" I say, before grabbing his remaining feet and then dragging him to Paradi, whose fear intensified after seeing the state Jed was in.

"Don’t worry, nothing of the like will happen to you if you go along with my whims," I spoke in an effort to ease out Paradi’s stress, before waiting for the arrival of two more of my companions, who came carrying with them a child each. "You succeeded?" I asked, and the two nodded, before saying. "I thought Boss got shot in the head... glad you are fine."

"Hah, if I had died for real, my body wouldn’t have turned back to human."

"Haha, yes, it’s why we didn’t intrude on your little game." Our group laughed while we both talked about our experience in a cordial manner, leaving Paradi Befuddled.

’These people are dangerous.’ He has seen people like this in his industry a lot.

’I have to show value... ’ He thought before his eyes fell on the two kids. Who he had suspected were the reason for his current misery.

’If not for picking that boy.’ He still considered the girl to be bait, while the boy was the real reason this all happened.

As for the face-changing monster’s claim of needing him? Paradi didn’t believe it one bit.

’Just a game, he is enjoying my misery.

’If I speak about the boy... I might be able to escape.’ Paradi thought before opening his mouth. "Is this abo..." But before he could complete his sentence, one of my subordinates just struck him straight in the face, breaking his teeth in the process. "We are having a discussion, don’t disturb us." He said, shaking his head in disappointment, before joining the conversation again as we moved, leaving nothing behind and disappearing in the darkness.

It was around thirty minutes later, that more of Luthanzan undercover officers appeared at the scene.

Some among them felt glad that they took some time. As they saw what had happened some colleagues bothered to come a bit early.
