Chapter 369: 6.09.2 Screams of a pig
The fool said it might work. Which made me smile.
Their tactics were simple as tactics can be, the two apprentice Knights tried their best to keep me in check, while the flintlock-wielding fools tried their best to reload and shoot me dead. So slow, so simple.
If not for the curse of lethargy and the curse of slowing impeding my movements, I would have long mauled them to death.
’Fight, fighting under unfavorable conditions, it’s a great test for me to see if the year of practice has bode any good results or not.
I increased the transformation over my body, turning my fingers and feet into hoof shapes, but still standing on two feet. This helped me to fatten up my muscles making it harder for the bullets to harm me.
Next was the issue with speed and lack of forming momentum to cause any real harm. But no issue there, as it was relative to begin with.
I was still an adept facing an apprentice, why should I worry about them?
So getting on all four and facing their attacks head-on, which cut me only on skin level. I jumped into the fray of the flintlock-wilding fools, who still didn’t understand that their weapons were too outdated to harm me.
Boom boom and boom.
I could feel the bullets stuck in my flesh, it pained me. But with a loud "moo" I trampled over the flesh and bones of the fools who thought they stood a chance.
"Run..." One of them cried, knowing that their attacks were not doing much to me. But what he earned in return was pushed down by my horns and then my hoof crushing his skull one after another, turning it into meat paste.
"This..." Jed, it was at this time that Jed understood that the opponent was really not as simple as he had assumed him to be.
Even the thought of running popped up in his head. But he held back as there was Reni to handle the field and lead him. Not to mention, Reni’s words still echoed in his head. "There should be others around us, so pay attention." Reni was experienced, he was as insightful as Paradi and understood how attacks like this worked.
’The one in front is just a distraction, the actual force is waiting for us in the field.’
Although this was a large grain field with some fruit trees in between. The long grass of the grains also makes it the perfect place to hide. Who knows what might be lurking in it?
’Survive, I have to survive.’ Jed has made up his mind. He was going to survive no matter what.
So he rushed toward the cow-like monster that was enjoying the massacre of his men. ’I can’t let them die.’ Ignoring the security of Paradi, he rushed into the fray and tried to stop the beast.
But all he got in return was a tackle with the beast’s horn, which ended up shattering Jed’s sword in an instant.
"Nooo..." He puked some blood.
Blood that evaporated the moment it hit the ground.
"Ho, you carry the blood seal," I said, looking at the boy who was confused by what he just witnessed himself. "Your background seems interesting." Saying those words, I tried to hit the boy, but what I got as a result was a stab directly at my anus.
"This bastard." With a kick from my hoof, I threw the bastard that finally hurt me. Before looking at him with bloodthirsty eyes. "How dare you take advantage of me... I am still a child, you know." The clothes and armor always fall off when I transform, and my mobility also lowers depending on the animal I am turning into, making some areas more open to attack.
And this was one weakness that surfaced when I transformed was my unprotected private parts. Curse of such incomplete transformations that can’t extract the strength of animals unless I transform completely into them.
That is something I can only use as I enter the Master rank.
So for now, I have to deal with this problem, face the struggles, and learn from the mistakes I make.
"Crush bam thrush." Sounds came from the area along with cries as I took my bleeding behind and trashed Reni, who seemed to have created an opening for his Master Paradi, who was aiming a proper revolver at my head.
’Ah.’ Then a curse hit me, making me confused, before I felt the fat in my body suddenly loosen up.
’Curse of vulnerability... another one of the most common curses.’ I could feel it, my defenses had dropped to a certain level.
Before a bullet was fired and struck me directly in the head.
’Oops.’
With those words, my body slid across the floor as I stopped on Reni’s feet.
*****
"Is it over?" Looking around, Jed, who barely stood up with a broken arm found himself surrounded with dead.
Only 2 survived from the mortal slavers, the rest were dead or on the verge of death.
"This bastard... this monster." Jed came and kicked the monster’s body, which slowly and surely transformed back into a human.
"Enough Jed. We, we have to leave now.’ Reni came and gave a deep look at me, before using his sword to stab the man’s body multiple times including his heart and then his skull. But most of his attacks were never able to penetrate the man’s body completely "Mister Paradi, can’t you do something about this?" He asked.
But Paradi just sighed in a tired voice and shook his head. "I am at my limit... ignore him, we have to move from here."
"... What about the slaves?"
"We are compromised, he should be alone. It’s better to go our separate ways than abandon the slaves. We don’t know how many others like him are eyeing us." What Paradi didn’t say was the slaves were a sort of distraction.
He knew why others belonging to this man’s group hadn’t attacked him yet.
’They fear we might harm the slaves.’ He had noticed the look of that man, how he came here and gave the two who were beaten to a pulp and given no food a deeper look than others.
Among which, Paradi was certain of the identity of the girl, while the boy?
He just found the boy on the road and chose to pick him up due to his beautiful face, which almost made Paradi mistake the boy for a girl.
The boy was the kind of product that sell for the highest, even when compared to a beautiful woman.
’It’s that boy, he brought this misery upon us.’
But Paradi knew, that if he were to retaliate against the boy now, the ones in the dark might not hold themselves back, and they might just attack him in the group.
’This is the only breathing room we have.’
"Look here, these are the keys to your freedom... when we are away, open the cages and go wherever you want." Paradi threw the keys into the cage on the truck, before he climbed in his jeep along with Reni, intending to leave.
And when Jed tried to climb along with the two others, a sword was placed on his neck. "Jed, it’s time for us to part." Reni threatened.
"What?.. Why?"
"Don’t think of me as someone cruel. As Mister Paradi said, we have to go our own way, it’s the only way for us to ensure our survival."
At such cruel words, what can Jed say?
His hand was broken, and he was tired from the fight, making it impossible for him to escape on foot. "You can use the two trucks to escape if you want." He suggested, before leaving the trio, which was made up of two mortal survivors and Jed.
Leaving them confused and wondering if they have a way out or not.
"Fuck.." He cursed, looking at the two men, then at the cage. "Don’t you dare get out?" He warned as he ordered the keys to the cages to be handed to him.
As for the other two survivors, Jed had a plan in his mind.
’Distraction.’ He ordered his two men to drive the two trucks in different directions with the excuse. "They won’t harm you two if you both carry hostages with you.... This is the only way for mortals like you to survive."
An excuse that normal people wouldn’t have believed, but seeing the death of their companions in such a brutal way, the two had no energy to argue. They did as was asked, in hopes they might survive.
While using those two as bait, Jed was the last one to leave.
But before he could, a voice came, which shook him to the core. "Leaving so early?"
I got up and looked at the only target left alive. While a bullet slowly fell from the partially transformed horn on my head.
"No... no how."
"You guys should have made sure that I was hit properly on the head." As the bullet hit the ground, A pig like scream sounded in the field so loud, that a village close by, which hadn’t slept due to the sounds of gunshots huddled together in fear.
They wondered, what was going on, what kind of monster were people fighting. And what would happen to them next?
Fear took them, and the sounds of the fight also became a legend among the people of the village, who were the first to find the trampled corpses of slavers, along with an extra arm and leg.
