Chapter 331: 5.16.3 Unexpected turn.

The centipede flew on its own to a certain direction, but Sheva was in no mood to find out what was there, she just dragged Crow and jumped down the train.

Or so she had thought, but the fall from the train never happened, as she found herself in a never ending abyss with no end in sight.

"She is a great illusionist." Sheva recalls ready to fight back. But her mind suddenly turned groggy, coming close to sleeping, which was a moment when a sound came in her ear. "It doesn’t seem she wants..." But before my words can end, a hand reached out in the dark and made a clawing motion toward Sheva’s head.

"You are here." Said a quiet voice, dragging the chaos of thoughts of out of Sheva’s mind. "I knew, you were involved in all of this somehow." With those words, Sheva suddenly find herself back in the trolley, her centipede still dancing in the air, wondering if it should kill me or not.

"What is going on?" She thought, not knowing what was real and what was not. But this was no time to think of such things. She needs to leave this place as soon as possible. For this was her only chance.

But before she could do a thing, the voice from before came in her ears again. "Did you kill him under his urging?" The figure appeared as a small woman, much different than the one I showed her. Lies hidden behind lies, she still remained a coward like always. But this is why I liked her.

"You... Who are you?"Sheva asked, playing her part and showing ignorance in an effort to make Kassandra think she still has information advantage against her opponent. But the situation advantage was still not in Kassandra’s hand.

As before, the dialog could further move on, with a sound of someone landing on the roof of the trolley, it started to rust on its own. Exposing Sheva and Crow to the sun, along with a very thin figure carrying a giant needle in his hand. "Nothing here?" He said. Surprising Sheva for a bit, before she tried to cry and call for help. But the figure just ignored her and went on for the other trolley.

As for, why not just destroy everything altogether?

That was not the prerogative. I won’t want to become a collateral and hence I asked for two of the most stable Grandmasters to be dispatched to this place.

"He won’t listen to you. So just tell me what I want to know. Did he tell you to kill him?" An odd question to ask from Sheva’s perspective. Why did it matter if he asked for it or not? But then again, she can’t speak about her bloodline and how uncontrollable it was. "He asked for it."

At my answer, she turned silent for a bit before looking at the figure in the sky. "Last question, why did he contact you?"

"He didn’t contact me, I did."

"Why contact him? Isn’t he your enemy? Or were you always working for him since the start?"

"I contacted him, to save that boy."

"..." Though turned mute for a second, Kassandra suddenly scoffed. "He never saves anyone, he just enjoys misery. Look above, the fight of two powerful transcendent, the death next to you. Your hopeful expression and the misery of that boy. All is done to for his entertainment, and you just dragged that entertainment to us."

At Kassandra spoke as if she knew me, Sheva didn’t know what to say at this point. Yes, with her experience with the being called Jester. All of what Kassandra said might just be true. But there is no denying of one fact. "But he still dispatched people for our rescue, that is more than enough."

"Is that it? Then let’s add to the fun of his." Kassandra suddenly smiled, aiming toward Crow’s chest.

And before Sheva could comprehend what was happening, a bloody hole appeared on my heart.

"Wha?" I looked at my daughter, who just easily punctured a hole through my heart, finally seeing her for the first time, and then at Sheva.

"This.." I tried to say, I tried to say that this was really random but fun. But no words escaped my mouth, there was only suffocation and chest pain that made my body cramp up.

"What did you do? Why did you kill him?"

"I didn’t kill him, you did."

Sheva’s mind was in chaos, she didn’t know what was happening and why it was happening. Even the promised rescue ignored her and went away, completely ignoring her existence. The result of which was right in front of her.

She then recalled the face of Crow the first time she saw him, a weird kid in his school that had habit to run away a lot. He even went a far as to work with his father’s murderer, even turned into his apprentice.

He was such an odd kid, such a bizarre kid that desired nothing more than adventure.

And he did, he died because she called for him. She called for Jester."Remira promised that no harm would come to us, she promised that Crow would gain a new life."

She spoke to the figure, but there was nothing present in front of her anymore. Furthermore, she was still in the trolley, her hands weak. "An illusion?" She thought for a bit, before turning to see the bleeding Crow, who had stopped breathing for a long while.

Though, seeing such a scene, she broke up her binds and rushed next to Crow, touching him, looking for healing potions, while at the back of her head, there was always a hope that this was all an illusion.

An illusion created to torment her.

"You were really here?" The thin man appeared by the time the train has stopped, he appeared annoying at first, but his face turned a disturbed. "I failed to save one of you?" The man spoke before turning to Sheva. "I apologize for my mistake." He bowed down to Sheva, who had turned mute, seeing that Crow was really dead.

Before he made an offer. "I am Lieutenant General Avichai from the Cenaia Plateaus. Although this is not right to suggest considering the current situation, but it would be better that we leave this place as early as possible."

Although the other General went and fought with the Witch of Contracts, but at least, the opponent was still someone he could see and target. But an illusionist is annoying and very dangerous. And although he would be able to handle everything on his own, Avichai knows that it would be troublesome if he had to protect people as well.

Making his suggestion the best course of option.

And although Sheva felt aggrieved over the situation, she nodded. "I understand." She said, looking toward the man who shined with bright white light, unlike Jester’s daughter whose darkness was worse than Jester himself.

No, in this small bout, she had seen people which carry worse darkness than Jester. So, wouldn’t that make them worse than Jester?

’What color did Jara carried?" She thought, looking as the color slowly fade from Crow’s body, a sign that he really was not in this world anymore.

Or so she thought.

"This place." I can feel a sort of beckoning, a desire for greater power, coming from the horizon. Although dead, my will still remain in the body, whereas my blood seemed to be oddly active at the moment. Asking me to summon the blade.

The very transparent blade that Max carried with him.

"You take me for a fool?" I asked the being, hiding deep in my bloodline. "I am no fool like your other carriers. A body is a mere shell for me, I can create a few more in future if this one fails. But for you, this is your only chance."

I know I was speaking to a ghost. A being that doesn’t exist in this reality anymore.

Lakram had long died its true death and can’t revive ever.

But like there were many methods of cooking fish, there were various forms of immortality in this world as well.

The biological immortality where the mortals live through their sons, progressing toward a greater lifeforms.

There was mythological immortality, where the beings lived through stories in the mind of their descendants of those who idolize them.

There was Ghostly immortality, the one that I practiced.

And among many forms of immortality, there was one which was horrific to extreme.

"The ship of Theseus, what if you replace the memories in the soul one by one with memories of someone or something else? Would that person still remain him, or would he become someone else?"

A fate that Baldar suffered through. He was being replaced while facing no corruption of soul, it was just his core being replaced with something else. And the blood on my body intends to do the same.

It was a kind of revival that would replace my will with something else. "So stay silent, this temporary death is nothing for me, I will live again and give you chance to enjoy this world once again."

I said to my blood which seemed to be restless, fearing that in few minutes most of my nerves would also die as well. But I ignored it, and just forced on the story that was unfolding in another part of the Phuket.

"The only option is to throw it." That’s the answer Remira came up with. A very frustrating conclusion, considering the direction Remira planned to throw it to.
