Chapter 243: 4.07.4 A different plan.

Of course, those thoughts of her were mostly to suppress her anger, her annoyance over the fate she just experienced.

Cold as she was, she was not inhuman enough to not be affected by the experience at all. Her broken bones and the feeling of powerlessness had crept into her heart and a bit of frustration was mixed with her feeling of success.

Living through this ordeal was enough for now.

"Mistress, your action might have informed them of your desires, it would be better to stay low for a bit." After taking her to their hideout, an old resting place inside an abandoned mine. Her Butler asked.

"They should know it already, we only gained through this accident, with a bit of loss. As for laying low, they should already know where we are hiding, so forget about laying low."

"Then isn’t it dangerous? With your Old Master’s loss and the state of the youngest one, I don’t want to lose you too. Isn’t it better to leave here?" The Butler shook his head in fear.

"I can’t, that man alone can handle most of us on his own and I know you won’t enter the fray until my life is in danger. So any effort on our part would lead to our destruction." She summarized the scenario in her mind. With the way things were, she only had one chance and she had to use it efficiently without any chance of error.

Of course, although her family’s Butler was against Fahna’s wishes to stay here amidst all this danger, he still had the duty to uphold. "The master should understand that staying here has no purpose, leaving would be the correct choice. Of course, there are other things we can do." That being the simple advisor of his Master.

"Other things." Fahna was intrigued for a bit, she looked to her old butler who was boiling some dried jerky, and said. "Help me brainstorm."

Who nodded in response, as it was his job to begin with." Kill with a borrowed knight. Why not inform the Pulgasari government? They should be interested."

"They will send their top dog, they will win instead of us. I would not get what I want."

"There is no need to attract them to your Old Master, just that Mechanic should be enough."

"He will probably lead them to Max, or the boy that lives with him."

Her butler kept giving her some recommendations, as it was his job as a family butler. He had given advice to her father before, he was doing the same with Fahna. And although he knew the answer to some of his suggestions, he still didn’t stop giving them out to Fahna.

His reasoning is simple, he was only putting up ideas, how the person in front of him interprets them and confronts the issues with their own plan, which is up to them.

Just like an individual’s plans to steal an apple would differ from person to person with differing levels of success white wishing for the same result. The same case might be possible here.

"I would prefer it if you don’t suggest any idea that would attract attention." Of course, the butler understood the reasoning here, he had used the same threat on Vegal, a man much more powerful than him not too long ago.

"Then why not just abandon it now? We can get him when he is at his weakest."

"He will die before long, not much time is left." As Fahna had such thoughts, she got up from her bed. "Which is not bad, when I think about it." Her mind ran into an overdrive. "There is no need to go after the teacher when there are so many of his people around here."

"We only can confirm one though." The Butler spoke, but Fahna just shook her head. It was as if things were falling into place for her. She finally saw some hope as she said. "The boy, he is the key, an important one at that."

At those words, the eyes of the Butler turned a bit weird.

"The boy that can be considered a fellow student by you?"

"No, I was just a mere trainee under Master, he just taught me the way of the killer. As for teaching me techniques, he couldn’t do it due to our incompatibility.’ Fahna was a mage, while Max was a Knight of a forgotten divinity. Their powers also didn’t match at all.

"As for the boy, the teacher is transferring his blood to him. A precious bloodline which can only exist one at a time."

At those words, the eyes of the Butler turned confused. "Didn’t you speak of him having a daughter? She should have it."

"No, she didn’t, it’s why he chose to run away, knowing that his daughter might not survive that world. He chose to abandon his old life, and I took over his seat."

When Fahna reached this point, her eyes turned bright. The thought of how her teacher lost her daughter anyway didn’t appear in her mind, she kept thinking of the weird bloodline and how the potential underlings of Jester were staying in such close vicinity to him.

Even the boy, who should have either died or joined his family among Smeltvers, has taken refuge under the killers of his father. And is apparently learning from the very man who killed his father.

Why was he here?

What was the boy’s relationship with the Jester?

Why was Max staying here for so long, instead of finding a cure for his problem?

Why did Jester’s man stay so close and take Krotal under his house?

So many questions, but they all pointed toward one thing.

The boy was somewhat special or it was the blood of Max that should be special, otherwise, why would these people stay here with an old man who was going to die soon anyway?

"Do you plan to stop the ceremony? We don’t know when it will happen?" The only thing currently they can be sure of is that Krotal hadn’t changed his bloodline the last time they saw him. But since Fahna’s injury, made her unable to move, she can see that it might have been too late already.

Of course, she was not so cynical to fall for her own conjecture so easily, there might still be some time to stop it or ruin it at least, which would probably cause a lot of loss on her front. But at least, she will ruin Jester’s plan.

Or so she believed.

Though much to my expectation, she said with a smile. "No need for intrusion, no need to ruin it, instead, we should make sure the ceremony goes without a hiccup." At those words Fahna, her Butler looked confused.

But Fahna didn’t say much after it. "Let’s leave this place for now, the regenerative potion has mended my bones by now."

With those words, she chose to leave. Running out of my sphere of influence.

A smart girl, guess she has an inkling that I should be keeping an eye on her. Probably why she didn’t complete the rest of her sentence.

’But the ceremony won’t be fun without her anymore.’ I could only sigh, wondering if I should look for some new intruders for a bit. Before shaking my ethereal head. There is no need for such drama. Not for now at least.

Let things progress as naturally as possible. I just hope when all is said and done, it will be entertaining for you lot who have been watching my play from the sidelines.

There was no need for goodbyes, there was not a single drop of tears that left Remira’s eyes as she walked away from the convoy of her mother after they drove out of the tunnel.

She just got out and moved while being led by the coin of fate, an artifact.

There was no time to be sentimental, there was no time for rest. As long as her mother is safe, she is ready to do anything.

And now, with her baggage gone, she can act more violently than before. So she moved after taking the glove of her right hand off.

Making it much easier for her to feel the heat on the coin.

The coin worked as Hamuk promised, as long as she walked in the right direction while holding the coin above her two fingers, the coin would maintain a mild warmth even in this deadly cold environment. As if the coldness never touched it.

Of course, as he had wanted as well, the rust also formed on it the longer she maintained the ritual, leading her closer and closer to her target.

Though it was tough to cover large sets of distances with the ritual in her hand, she always put it in her pocket after finding a direction through the coin.

And before long, she stumbled upon the first area that seemed like a camp.

’They didn’t take the train?’
