Chapter 236: 4.06.4 The game.
Although, the Radiant Knight originated from the very first Knight in existence. They were a far cry from what can be considered an ideal knight.
They were not constrained by the rules, not slaves to it. To pursue their goal, they were ready to stoop as low as possible, as long as it didn’t hurt their bottom line, which was the lives of innocents.
Or so many had claimed, but even then, their actions have put people at risk. But they never backed down from doing such heinous things in an attempt to pursue the greater good.
That was it, to them, the greater good was more important than any honor or shame.
Hence the reason why Remira didn’t mind selling Farhad.
This was not like before when she was alone with Farhad. Earlier the reason she could fight these people off and remain astute in front of danger and their request was because she could afford it.
She was ready to pay any price as long as she could keep Farhad away from these people. But now?
There was her mother. An Adept knight just like she used to be. But Remira knew full well that she didn’t stand a chance against people like this.
She can’t survive if those talismans were to explode. So Remira had to back down at this point. She has to ensure her mother’s safety not just in the present, but in the future as well. And in her eyes, she will stay safe as long as Rajara keeps away from Jester.
A good exchange if one were to think about it.
Of course, she didn’t believe that the other party would see this deal through to the end, but she knows that one way or another, she bought some time by selling off Farhad.
"Remira, are you really going to give up the boy?" Her mother asked, curious over how cold it was for Remira to sacrifice Farhad. But Remira didn’t speak or speak her thoughts to Rajara. "Don’t worry, he won’t die, they are after his flames and they can’t take it unless he consents." She lied, feeding her mother some false information in hopes she wouldn’t connect the dots from before and go on a different tangent.
Her mother was no fool, no one in this tunnel was. Nor were they simple mortal humans. With their sharper senses, although they lacked a bit of context, they were able to listen to the whole dialog between the two.
"Still, there was so much we could have learned from him." But unlike what Remira was thinking, her mother’s priorities were a tad bit different.
’She is not the same as before.’ Her mother seemed obsessed and did not act like she used to. But this was not the time to look for a reason.,
"How long will it take to wake up?" Remira asked and Dinesh just shook his head and noted. "I don’t even know if that drug would work on him as intended, how can I say for sure when he will wake up?"
Remira regretted a bit, it was she who earlier fed Farhad that drink, and now she couldn’t even send him away after explaining some things. Leaving her with just one choice. "Give me a paper and pen."
"I wonder what is taking so long, Knight Remira?" A voice asked, Owl’s voice who had a foolish grin on his face, as if he won. And in a way, he did win. "He will be confused when he wakes up, I think it’s better to explain some things. You can check the letter if you want."
"How about you just tell me the message and I will narrate it to the young man when he wakes up?" He gave a kind suggestion to Remira. Who just shook her head and said. "He won’t believe you if that were to happen."
"Then it will be a bit hard to say... let’s say, even if you do something wrong with the slip, hiding something in the paper to track us. We will know and will be forced to sever our promise in response."
At those words, Remira’s eyes scrunched up. She understood that she had found out. She was a good tracker, even without her ability to track enemies through her base senses, she had a few tricks up her sleeve as well.
One of which was a mark of blood.
Of course, the method Remira planned to use here was a bit different, but it didn’t feel good for her to be caught so early in her plan. "Don’t worry, I don’t plan to do that."
Her face betrayed her words, which amused Owl a bit. Before she focused on the note again.
Leaving simple words such as, ’Go with them for now. I will be back after fulfilling my promise to you.’
There was no need to go into details, the more vague it is, the better it will be for a multitude of different reasons. However, the most important part this note played was simple.
It was to give Farhad hope. Even if this was vague he would be confused over what promise Remira meant, even thinking she might be speaking of helping his sister, the very reason he came to the Radiant Hall.
No matter what his mind cooks up, as long as the hope will be in his head, he probably won’t be easily led astray.
"Done." With those words, she brought the body of Farhad to Owl, who had been gladly waiting on the side. "Burn the paper, if you find any issues." With those words, Remira backed off.
The contract had long been confirmed between the two, using the God of Sun as a witness, an expensive contract that Remira never had expected to see in real life, but these people took it out without an issue.
Of course, their reason was that only someone as strong as God of the Sun would be strong enough to issue punishment on someone like Remira and they were right. Even the First Knight would not interfere or dare to forcefully break the contract at this point.
Showing that these people had been ready for a long time, much longer than she had expected as it didn’t seem that they went back to civilization to buy such a contract. No, they were in possession of it since their first meeting. As if they were aware that there would be a need for it in the future.
And they were right.
"Pleasure doing business with you Sir Knight."
"Go, and take your talisman with you."
"Of course." With a swipe of his hand, the burning Talisman soon turns to dust, bringing darkness back to the tunnel.
"It’s just two kilometers more, I hope you have a safe journey."
"I hope to meet you again when this journey of mine is over." Remira threatened, but Owl didn’t care as with a whistle, he disappeared with Farhad’s body.
Leaving Remira with some indignation.
She was defeated again. A defeat that felt sour.
’If not for my mother.’
There is no time to blame her mother, she is glad that there is someone from her family still living in this world. ’I will kill them.’
"Let’s go."
Remira ordered, causing the tank to move again.
Though, not long before, the body of an old man materialized beside her from the shadows, his hand still holding a cup of tea, with the only difference being his lack of smile.
"You?" Remira was startled, she was ready to strike Hamuk, who directly held her hand, before her strike fell.
"You almost made me spill it." He said with some annoyance, but his eyes never moved to Remira, instead he kept staring at Rajara while asking. "Also Professor, are you alright with that? Although his ability is a bit annoying, it’s not much of an issue for me."
Rajara shook her head at this question. "As long as you can’t kill every member of his group in a short amount of time, there is a high chance we would all have died here."
On the other hand, Remira, knowing who this was, also dropped her guard to some limit. While saying. "He is not as simple as you might assume him to be." She felt being looked down on. Though she didn’t have any complex due to it, because she could see that this man was strong.
Much stronger than she had earlier assumed.
’Materializing from the shadows, without the need to open through a door, a phasing ability?’ She tried to think what sort of bloodline it would be, but she lacked too much information at the moment.
But what she could say for sure was that if she were to fight this man beforehand, there was little chance of her survival. The nose she had been so proud of has failed her and this old man would have easily killed her if he wished to.
’The paper figurines are just one part, I have also fallen into a bizarre illusion of his before, which changed the whole environment along with fooling my senses.’
"He is a tough opponent if given time, which he usually earns through burning through his fake bodies." Remira couldn’t help but look at Doctor Dinesh, who had been listening in to the discussion.
"That might be the case for you, but I still say that killing him won’t be much of an issue," Hamuk claimed while taking a sip of his tea. "If not for Professor’s requirement, I would have killed at least two of his group. As for the other three, it would have taken time, but I don’t believe they would be able to hide for long."
"Two? You found the two?" Remira wondered, looking at this old man who seemed to have never left his tank.
