Chapter 212: 4.01.4 Inhuman human.
Inhuman as he was, it didn’t lower his EQ or his IQ. It should be said that the current Farhad was very astute when it came to dealing with such issues.
Although he lacked actual experience, which can’t be filled with broken memories from the dreams as well his isolated present life. He understood one thing perfectly.
Staying silent and letting others handle annoying people for him was a lot better. This way, he can hide in the background and read their intentions. Who they were and what they might think. A habit that he had learned from his old friend, The Jester.
Which neither Remira nor the woman was aware of. They didn’t know Farhad’s curious mind that was taking everything into account, filling the blanks in information with his own understanding and knowledge of the world.
Case in point, the undead in the snow.
Think as he might, he can’t recall anything like this. It’s impossible for the undead to survive any of the extremes of hot and cold. They were beings of the middle, an environment that was healthy for bacteria and fungus to prosper, a cold and damp place filled with illnesses.
It’s the kind of place where the undead proliferated. Not this cold and dead environment.
Unless of course, they were not undead, but something similar.
So he changed his focus, instead of undead, he looked for other infectious curses and illnesses that control not the dead, but the living instead. Even then, he failed to come up with a proper answer.
He knew for a fact, that the victims were the undead, those that rose from the family tomb not too far away. That direction was false as well.
’Unless it’s not some curse of that nature to begin with. Not a mindless infection, but something to be controlled.’ As Farhad’s thoughts reached this part, Remira nodded. "Lead the way, but I would prefer it if you don’t make any clever movements," Remira said, showing her gun to the woman. A warning as well as insurance.
Remira wants to make sure she doesn’t do anything stupid, thinking that Remira won’t be able to reach her with her sword.
"No need to worry, I have one of my own." The beautiful woman said, before turning to Remira again and saying. "And please call me Gehena, like the Jewelry." A name that suited someone as beautiful as her.
In Farhad’s eyes, he did agree with it. The name suited her almost perfectly, as even Remira couldn’t compare to this woman in beauty. ’It’s odd...’ With those thoughts, Farhad turned his head away from her face and then looked at Remira, waiting for her order. "We will follow her."
Farhad nodded, he already knew what was going on so he didn’t speak much. Neither did he mention what he found just now. He just remained quiet and acting as her servant, he moved behind her, following the woman named Gehena towards an open field.
And although their journey was short, Farhad was quickly able to notice the oddity of this whole area.
’It looks like craters.’ He noticed the broken pieces of mountains, the dead frozen trees as well as a giant frozen lake that didn’t feel natural when taking the edges of the lake into account.
’Hmm?’ And then he noticed a moment of weakness in Remira. Although Gehena might not notice it as she was walking at the front, Farhad who was right behind Remira noticed that small oddity.
’Is there something in the lake, he wondered, trying to see deep into it. But he couldn’t see as the ice film was too thick, making it impossible for him to see anything.
’She will speak if it’s dangerous anyways.’
With those words, he ignored the lake and kept moving forward.

When the trio reached the corner of a small hill, Remira, through her nose, noticed the oddity at once.
"Inside the hill? How long have you people been here?" Remira asked, but Gehena didn’t answer at all. She was under contract and it was impossible for her to ever give away any valuable information.
And Remira understood this, but she asked this out of complete instinct.
"Do you know, the previous Knights walked through this path multiple times, but they never found our hideout. All they did was keep looking for the traces of the stolen bodies... Or so did they believe." It was another way of Gehena’s saying that Remira was a lot different from the ones before.
And they were both Master level Knights as well. But they were never able to find their entrance.
"I am sensitive to such things. There is a reason I came here after they failed on their end." She was still not sure of her opponent’s intentions and now she was walking directly into an enemy’s den.
A foolish mistake if anyone else was in her place, but Remira believed in her strength. She was sure that she could easily take down anyone she came across, even if it was some grandmaster.
This was why she was free of apprehension, barely putting up an act of weakness so that her opponent also treated her like an easy target.
It’s the only way she can get true answers from them. And that’s why she used a believable lie in the end.
"Then you are lucky Miss Knight, your journey this time will be a lot more fruitful than your compatriots from before." With those words, the sides of the frozen hill moved apart as a man dragged the door open.
"Captain, you brought in some guests?" An old man with a jolly face said with a big smile on his face. "It must be cold outside, come in, come in." The old man truly held a genuine welcoming attitude towards Remira and Farhad.
There was no hint of ill will or even confusion in his voice as he said those words.
He even seemed a bit happy, which made Remira Wonder what was going on.
While for Farhad, he found this a bit disturbing.
’Something is not right.’
The lack of information stopped him from making up any misconceptions, but it didn’t stop him from upping his guard from before.
’First that woman, now this old man.’ He can feel it. He didn’t know about Remira, but he could feel that infectious feeling he felt from the woman as well as this old man.
"This is Hasmuk. One of the seven members of our small lab. Including me." At those words, the old man happily closed the door, before saying. "Of the seven members, I am just a gatekeeper. All I do is keep those things outside. I can’t compare myself to you or others."
"As for you Madam and Young Master, do you need some tea? Outside is pretty cold isn’t it?"
"Hasmuk, they are still on guard, do you believe they will drink your tea? Let them settle a bit. The doctor called for them personally."
"Is this so?... Well, no worries. Come anytime you want. I brew some tea all the time. It’s the one thing in life I can enjoy in this hellscape."
Remira didn’t speak at this point, she can’t promise that her relationship with these people would remain the same after she get some answer.
There was a high chance she might need to fight all the people here, and from what she can understand, there were seven of them.
There doesn’t seem to be any established hierarchy here, as the gatekeeper and this woman seemed to be on the same level.
Or was the gatekeeper stronger? Remira wondered.
From what he told me, he was the one keeping those things outside, remaining outside.
As for the facility itself, it was clean pristine, and pretty big.
It would seem that the whole hill on the mountain had been hollowed, with walls lined with metal. Which was a bit odd, but Remira didn’t think hard about this.
What was odd though were the rooms in her path. Most of them seem like bedrooms and all of them are empty.
And from the smell in the air, there was no one in the facility besides them and the gatekeeper from before.
Which was odd, considering that she had heard there were a total of seven members of the group.
’An ambush?’ Remira wondered but chose to shake her head in denial.
From the enthusiasm of the gatekeeper and the words that were spoken, it seemed unlikely.
’They need my help. Do they know of my origins?’
She shook her head again.
The Wyrmwood in her name didn’t come out of nowhere. Pierta has done her best to provide her with a fake background and the Radiant Hall has done its best to hide it as well.
They didn’t wish to earn the ire of the Cynark kingdom. Nor did they wish for Remira to always be in danger by her fellow men. As for using occult magic to trace the bloodline?
It was impossible, the bloodline of the First Knight would overpower any spell of that sort and cause backlash for the caster. It’s impossible for other people to learn of her true origins.
But such questions will be answered soon, as out of nowhere, Remira smelled someone in a room not too far from her. He appeared out of nowhere and his hands smelled of blood. Making her put up her guard and stop in her place.
"Explain who is in that room."
Hearing such a question, Gehena looked at Remira in surprise. "You didn’t lie about your strong senses. " To others, Remira’s actions can be considered disrespectful, but Gehena didn’t mind.
She understood that words won’t work at the moment, at least not her words. "As I said, I am taking you to our leader, the doctor leading this operation."
"There is blood on that man’s hand, human blood." With those words, a fiery sword was pointed toward Gehena. "Where did humans come from, this is a forbidden zone, and that blood doesn’t have any mutation."
The reason for Remira’s sudden outburst was simple.
The Man was covered in human blood. Pure human blood without any filth attached to it.
There were mortals in this facility.
