Chapter 196: 3.14.6 A Big Fish has appeared.

Fiery as were her movements, no one in reality noticed her existence. Besides Max of course.

His habit of finding a proper place to keep the whole battlefield in his eyes gave him a greater picture of the whole hill. He could see everyone from his position and was going to hunt the people who dared to imitate him.

Which is why the figure of Fahna was so easily noticed for him. "She really is working with that beast." He thought before jumping into the fray with his blade.

This was an all-out war on the hill, causing many people to panic in the city and there were already some Master level Knights that were rushing toward the hill, including a single Grandmaster, whose face didn’t look good.

Chaos.

Chaos had spread everywhere, it was like a storm with Salvarez at the center.

Explosions and snipers were doing their best to take out their targets, even the police started to try and surround the combat area, or those that survived the previous onslaught at least.

"This is bigger than we imagined... we have to leave." Eyes placed here by the leaders of Gutters also understood that things were a lot more chaotic than they had assumed. The individuals here were too strong. Specifically, the two Mages, who had stopped caring about their surroundings as they flung spells and mage bullets towards their enemies, carrying the most devastating strength on the battlefield.

"Evacuate... !"

It was time for the small parties to leave, staying here was nothing more than acting suicidal. As for the two families that lived here?

They were already being led out of the hill without much of an issue.

As for Max, he flew into it without anyone’s notice. He was just another Master level Figure who joined the accompanying chaos. He didn’t use any of his tools at the beginning, none of his usual potions or grappling hook, he just danced around the periphery while counting the enemies and rating them on their lethality.

"Hollow! As before." But he couldn’t. As he had expected, the vitality of these people only showed the level of a mortal, which was eclipsed in comparison to the Beast that was fighting them not too far away. Whose vitality kept increasing without a limit.

Making Max wonder, where all that energy was coming from.

You can’t light a fire without burning anything. The laws of conservation of energy were something he had learned from his master a lot, which helped him predict the limit of an individual and the amount of strength they display.

But in this battle, none of that helped him at all.

Which in truth didn’t matter.

Sweek~

With his blade that slashed at the dark figure who was focused on the beast, Max felt something tight as his target backed off into the smoke, trying to disappear.

But Max, through his vitality sensing, can still see its movements. Which was trying to ambush him from the side, using the smoke as the mask

Even if this person only had the vitality of a normal human, he still glowed in Max’s eyes, meeting his attack with a dagger of his own.

But before he could do anything, three bullets barely scraped Max’s body, with one of them being deflected by his blade.

’They know I am here.’

’Good.’

It would have been much easier to attack the mages, but due to their position and background, harming them would obviously cause a stronger response from Bothal, for which he was not ready yet.

So he left them alone and focused on these shady figures. Keeping them away from the target while Fahna does what she does best.

’Poor girl still hasn’t noticed me.’

*****

The flames of nothingness, though not lethal or possessing any soul-burning capabilities like her Father’s. But by using these flames to manipulate the light around her body, she could attain a pseudo invisibility. Which when paired with the smoke helped her get closer to her target.

An action one would consider suicidal, as she was a mere adept among the Masters. Each collision of their attacks had pushed her back and almost caused the cover of flames over her body to get blown off.

But she has to do it.

This was the opportunity she had been looking for since the start.

She wished for something like this to happen, an event where loads of people die, making it harder for the police to suppress it.

Of course, they can easily manipulate the narrative like they had done before, calling the act an affront of justice and blaming all of it on either the assassins who appeared out of nowhere or Salvarez, the victim of their cruelty.

And generally, that would happen if Salvarez loses himself completely in war. Turning nothing more than a villain in the eyes of the city and people would actually believe it.

A future that Fahna didn’t wish to become reality.

So she had to do it.

The little game she played before was finally going to come to fruition.

However if one were to ask who was in the most danger in this whole scenario? It was none other than Fahna, as she had lost her diplomatic identity by faking herself leaving the city. Now if she is killed, no one will come asking for justice

And in case she got caught, there was a high chance that the relationship between Cynark and Pulgasiri would collapse due to her actions.

A relationship that was barely established after years of diplomacy.

So with all of that in mind, she moved ahead without delay. Using the smoke as cover where no one can find her, she moved.

But before she could take a step forward, sounds of clashing came from her front before dying down.

The same thing happened again and again, each time being closer to her than before. But never coming toward her.

Making her wonder whether her luck was really this good.

But this luck didn’t blind her. She still used the techniques she had learned before getting closer to the giant bear causing havoc in the cover of the darkness.

******

’She knows someone is protecting her.’ Max smiled on the side, pushing away another one of Fahna’s attackers.

Although her flame trick was good, it was nothing in the eyes of the assassin who tried to emulate his looks. They were able to find her easily in the dark of the smoke and attack without much of an issue.

But that will be it.

"You... you are different from them..." Suddenly the figure of Blue rose out of the smoke, his hand holding a halo of multiple fireballs, which he threw toward Max.

"Hey... I am on your side." Max shouted as he backed off, showing some fear toward the fire that turned time land before him, molten. Which cooled down in an instant as all the heat was absorbed into Blue’s hand again, turning the area domain of death.

A domain that kept increasing and would have devoured Fahna, but with his grappler, Max accurately aimed at her body and dragged her out of her path before any harm could befall her.

Much to her surprise, she tried to cut the fire that stuck to her like a loach.

But before she could do so, the fire had already dislodged and went back into the darkness. Leaving her with a shock.

It was only after she went back to her path, that she noticed the icy ground and was able to confirm.

"Someone is protecting me."

As for who it was? There were various names in her head. All who belonged to her Father’s friends circle. But it was for this reason, that she knew that none in her Father’s friend circle used a tool like the one she had been captured with.

As for the man who saved her?

He hid in the darkness again dancing in the darkness while weaving and clashing with the assassins as he changed his target somewhat.

’That other mage... why did he focus on me?’

The other Mage from the CBI was busy dealing with the beast, who sometimes appeared weak and sometimes would burst with immense strength causing the mage tired and confused.

But the other one, the one called Blue, had left the side of his companion and was able to move into the smoke unhindered before coming across Max.

Which was surprising, to say the least.

Moving among smoke when assassins were active?

That was suicidal. Moreso for mages who were feeble in strength.

Why take such a risk?

Unless, to that mage, there was no risk and Max was his target to begin with.

"Like he said, he is one of them." With those thoughts, Max armed the small gadget on his right hand.

"Time to end him first."

There would be no better time to end a Master level Mage from the company.

A fact that was hard to find proof of in the current environment. But there was no better chance to weaken the strength and reach of his enemies.

But before he could do such a thing.

"ENOUGH!!" Like a meteor, a figure crashed onto the mountain, directly on the body of Salvarez, thrusting his body deeper into the hill, causing the whole hill to crack on impact.

An impact caused all the smoke to disperse, along with most figures on the battlefield as they were pushed to the side under the force of the impact.

"No!!" Max said, shielding his body with his hand, as his eyes burned looking at the small figure in the center of this impact.

"This... Fuck!" This was not in the plan. There was no mention of such a thing in the plan.

"Why is a grandmaster here?" Not just Max, but others on the battlefield were asking the same question.

A question that might confuse many, but to me. This was just the beginning of this game, as the big fish finally bit the bait.
