Chapter 178: 3.11.4 Day is ruined.
Now alone in this world, with no one to ask for or criticize him, Krotal was a free dwarf. He could do anything he wanted as long as he was not found out by the authorities who were still looking for him while having enough in his pocket to sustain him on his future adventures.
The money he was slowly accumulating by working under the mechanic I had recommended him. A shop that was also an adventure for Krotal and he had faced some small mishaps which might have taken a few fingers off of him, if not for the timely rescue of the old man who owned the shop.
But that’s all, besides those few instances, his life had mostly been slow. Some might even call it boring.
"Finally, I was getting bored with time." He said while taking his time to reach the station, which was good. With how I timed everything.
With a few turns he finally arrived at the Ribert Station and then following the green line, he arrived on the underground railway with a few dwarfs that were waiting for the train to arrive.
But as he didn’t find any sign of his target, he found a place and then sat down proudly.
Some officers that did come in rounds, gave him a few looks, before ignoring him due to how common his appearance was.
And as clothes make a man, the current Krotal looked like a poor one with a school bag next to him.
As for what was in it? None cared. Many other students of Krotal’s age carried a similar bag as Krotal but appeared a bit more feeble in comparison.
It was only when the Police had disappeared did Krotal found the woman he was looking for. In casual housewife clothes, she carried a small bag filled with groceries and waited for the arrival of the train like others.
’She is here.’ With those thoughts, he approached her.
Or he planned to do it until he saw something from the corner of his eyes. "Hn??" A dwarf, much older than him, also gave Sheva a few glances, before he placed his hand in his pocket and did something.
"Hah! I knew it, this is going to be fun." With those thoughts, he climbed the train along with Sheva, who entered the women’s compartment where he was not allowed. But as it was midday, he was still able to keep her in his sight due to how empty the train was due to the time.
But so did the other man, who seemed to have noticed Krotal and gave him a look as well, making Krotal look at him deeply and then ask. "The fuck you looking at?" He asked, causing the old man to turn his head to the side, while Krotal maintained his eyes on Sheva.
Which made him appear as a lecher to those around him, while they treated the old man as someone who probably wanted to stop him. But chose to abandon that thought after looking at the strong stance that Krotal put.
However, it’s not like they can’t understand why Krotal would find someone like Sheva so interesting. Even they had sent a few side-long glances towards her. And it’s not because they were mesmerized by her beauty, but it was her build and size that surprised them.
There were many human immigrants in the city, but they had never seen a human woman this size. She seemed straight out of the stories of old when the parents used to scare the children with the giant humans when the dwarves still lived in isolation.
Krotal, seeing that his little trick worked, started to approach Sheva with a smile on his face.
Of course, he just stopped a bogey before and didn’t dare enter the women’s lodging, he just called out from afar.
"Hey lady, can I know? How did you get those giant muscles?" Like a fool with muscle in his brain, Krotal asked Sheva. Attracting her attention, which made her take a defensive stance.
Of course, she was not blind to his eyes. She had known a dwarf was looking toward her for a while, as for who he was, she didn’t know.
Because even if she had followed him for such a long time before, Sheva was still a human and struggled with identifying the faces of dwarfs under their beards. And even if Krotal was young, he was still a dwarf who hit puberty early and now had a dense bear that covered his face. But not as much as before, because in an attempt to hide himself, he had cut them short, which can be considered blasphemous in his family that still carried on old traditions.
"Boy, didn’t your parents teach you manners? Go away or I will call the police." Sheva said, acting like a defenseless woman, who looked around for a bit before threatening him.
But in her mind, she had finally understood who this boy was. His voice was a giveaway. And in an attempt to not get found out, she put on an act of ignorance.
"Hey, not like I am entering your compartment, lady. And it’s not like I did anything, calling the police would only waste their time." Krotal said with a smug face, which changed soon after he saw her call for the police as she had claimed.
Making him scared and then back off from there.
All of this was noticed by many people, while Krotal called Sheva "Bitch!" and returned to his spot, while looking at others, who saw him make a fool of himself, including the old man. "Do you wanna lose your eyes?"
With that said, he found a spot and then sat down, a bit far away from the group.

Sheva succeeded in maintaining her cover, but she also saw something else.
’That boy... Why did he leave this bag?’ She wondered.
Recalling what happened that night and what they did to the boy’s father, Sheva did feel a sense of guilt, but that’s it. She had forgotten about the boy the moment she left him in the veranda of a house that day. What happened later was up to fate.
And even though, in her heart, she knew the boy might already be killed by the perpetrators in a bid to silence him, she never expected him to meet him here.
’He saw me, he knows me, so people behind him might know me as well.’ With few hints of reasoning, she knew that her situation was serious. She had to leave this place as fast as possible, as she didn’t know who was behind this boy and why he approached her.
But when the bag was taken into account, along with the out-of-nature act that Krotal put on. The mind of Sheva runs a bit more before coming to a single conclusion.
’If he was working with enemies, he wouldn’t be so foolish as to approach me. There was a high chance he would have died at my hands... Not like there was a need for him to approach me at all. He could have just called for help while I was still in the dark and set up an ambush.’
’So the only reason he approached me is due to that bag and at least currently, he is not working against me. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given himself away so easily.’
After countless thoughts and reasoning, she finally came to one conclusion.
’I have to check what’s in that bag, but I should also get away from this place, just as a precaution.’
With those thoughts, Sheva picked up the bag that was left, going unnoticed by many, including the old man who put on the act of an old man and kept watch over Krotal. In truth, he was waiting for the next station before following Sheva.
Though Krotal didn’t care what the old man wanted, he just started to look around and found another woman to eye. A short dwarf woman who seemed to be the same age as him. But that was all he did.
Showing the makings of a smart man who knew how to handle certain situations. Showing his ability to remain discreet in public, while acting as a fool.
A perfect operative, if not for his ill mind.
But no worries, time will fix him, I will fix him.
As for Sheva, she just looked around for a bit, before finding the emergency brake that is set up in each compartment and can only be pulled with immense strength, which Sheva didn’t lack.
Knowing that there might be danger at the coming station, she ripped the chain, causing the wheels of the trains to create sparks, as the train slowed down in an instant. Causing many people on the train to fall over, including the old dwarf who was following Sheva.
And when he was finally able to look toward her, he saw her jumping out of the emergency window of the train, which was still moving at a dangerous pace.
"NO!" He cried. Knowing that he was found out, knowing that all his effort just went to waste.
"That little shit." He then looked toward Krotal, who also seemed to have disappeared from sight. Making the old man wonder if those two were working together.
But soon, he heard a few words that made his head hurt. "Miss, Do you need some help?’ Krotal was not too far away, helping a young girl his age.
A lecher, a bastard, and bad omen.
Those were the words in the old man’s head, as he saw his days of work ruined due to this small mishap.
He was so close.
So close to finding the hiding spot of these people.
But all of it was ruined due to one single lecher.
He knows that there is no way that woman is going to enter this train line again.
