Chapter 173: 3.10.6 I know where she is.

Fear and anger took hold over the mother of the child, hearing the kidnapper’s words, she shouted loudly. "Don’t come in from the window..."

"Ma’am... This was our...!" The guard next to her tried to stop her, but she punched him on his shoulders while announcing. "You want him to kill my child?" She said in delirium, not understanding that no matter what happens an adept level assassin won’t even ruin the only edge he had against a total of three Master level figures.

And yes, there were a total of three figures, one on the outside, one in the room, and the last one hiding, waiting for the opportunity to strike the intruder and take him down.

Whose existence was unknown to everyone in this room. So they did what they could, unaware of the hidden backup they had. While Max enjoyed his current position. "Looks like the lady is the smartest one here."

Max has always adopted a playful persona when confronting enemies. A method of misdirection to appear stronger and calmer than he is in reality. A false confidence that would make his enemies question if he truly had an edge against them.

Even his prior claims of the master-level Knight entering through the window on his back were just a lie. Something he made up on the spot after he put the two and two together and assumed what the guards might do in their situation it would seem, his lies turned out to be true and the other guard truly was planning to enter through the window.

All of which, when taken together, made Max appear untouchable. Someone who might predict the actions of his enemies and harm the kid in return for their insolence.

What a play I might say. But he still didn’t take the third party into account, nor was he aware of his existence.

Neither did he ever think that the Letzer family would be able to afford another master-level guard in their house.

"Madam.." Called out a maid, who held a small clothed bag in her hand. From behind her, there were sounds of cries and fear from the old couple who wanted to get close but couldn’t as the guards stopped them from coming any closer to the room.

"Throw it to that man..." The mother screamed at the maid, who after looking at the naked scaly man for a bit, attempted to throw the jewels there. But before she could do so, Max stopped her. "No need for the bag, I would appreciate it if you come close and put these things in my mouth." Like a perv, Max explained. "As you see, I lack any places to keep it, on account of me being naked that is."

He thought that explaining himself here should be appropriate, he was no deviant, and even if these people might be involved in something heinous, the poor old maid was innocent. There would be no need to put her in a hard place.

Not to mention, he still hasn’t gotten over his wife’s death, followed by his daughter’s disappearance. But others didn’t think in such a way, even after hearing his words. "Pervert, I can’t wait to crush your neck." The guard said while the maid started to walk toward Max after the order of the lady of the house.

*****

"Now the blue one. Gently put it in my mouth." No matter how much of a perv he appeared at this moment. Max didn’t lose his focus on what he was doing here and the traps that might lay in the treasure he was swallowing, which included poison as well as curses or any new mechanical invention by the dwarves that might track him.

So he only picks and chooses the jewels he can confirm were safe and not sabotaged by some other party in a bid to track him.

Due to the years of methods developed through perilous experiences, Max knew how to differentiate between what he picks from his hunt.

Hence the reason he chose this method. He won’t bring a bag of jewels with him just because they fell in front of his feet. Nor would he ingest them so easily.

Let the maid put those things directly into his stomach. It was the safest method he could think of.

"Thank you, madam, you can go back to safety behind the guards."

"You... are you happy now? Give me back my son!!" The woman cried again, begging Max to return her son, who still bled from his finger. But Max can only deny her request. "Ma’am, no need to worry, your men can follow me to the exit and when I am sure I am safe, I will leave your son alone."

"Bu.. But he is bleeding... he..."

"Don’t worry, he will be fine." With those words, Max stomped on the floor and then crashed out of the window with him still facing the boy’s mother.

He can even see her crying face, which turns into horror as she sees her son being taken out of the window with Max. The thought of losing her son was so much that the woman lost consciousness then and there. And Max could see all of it in slow motion in front of his eyes.

Even the fact that a total of two guns were aimed at him. One from the front and then another from the roof where the first guard was standing.

But promptly using the boy as the shield caused the two to stop their fingers from pressing the trigger and they could only watch as Max fell to the ground along with the boy and then dashed out of sight.

While countless guards followed behind him.

"No one shoots."

The outer guard leader was the only Master level knight in Max’s pursuit, the other had chosen to stay behind and take care of the family in fear that there might be another assassin lurking in the dark.

But even one master-level Knight was impossible to tackle for Max. Unless he used a combo of his poisons and acids, along with sneak attacks. It’s impossible to correctly keep up with a Master’s level.

So all he could do at the moment was run, while the guards shouted and woke up the rest of the neighbors that lived in the area. ’It’s becoming chaotic enough.’ Max thought to himself. Before shouting. "Man, you need the boy this much? Then catch him." With those words, he threw the boy into the air, high enough that without any rescue, the boy would splatter across the road.

This distracted the Knight long enough that Max soon turned invisible again, before climbing the builds and then disappearing from sight at a greater speed than previously shown by him. Putting the guards at shame.

"FucK!" Many of them were left in the dust and could only curse in return. And Max was taking a sigh of relief.

But in Max’s ears, I warned him as such. "If you keep walking on this path, you will come across a wall, one with spikes and corpses."

In my words, his steps stopped. "Was it the jewelry?" He asked me, but I just shook my head. "Probably not, but the insect in your ear detects something dangerous, much more dangerous than the two behind you."

’...’

He can’t confirm whether it was the jewelry he had ingested being the problem, or someone had tracked him down without any mark.

But whatever it was, it was dangerous.

"Thanks for telling me." With those words, Max started to spread about his ingested treasure on the roof of some buildings, hiding from the eyes, while he found his stash of clothes on the way.

But even when he abandoned the clothes, no matter what direction he chose. I kept saying. "The wall still remains there."

"What else is there?" He thought, before looking at the finger, to which I shook my head. "Even if it’s the finger, you still have to bring it to the place I mentioned."

"I won’t die for this... there should be something that can be done." Max truly thought that the finger might be the reason. There was a way to track the finger and now he was being targeted due to this.

But I kept shaking my head. "This is important, you can’t lose it. If you hadn’t succeeded, then it would be a different matter, but now that you did, it would be foolish to abandon it."

"Can I just leave it here like the jewels and come back after?"

"The vitality will die, you need to bring it to the location in the next three hours."

All his suggestions were gently put down by me, leaving only one way out for him. That was to face the opponent. And to give him some push. "How about this, I will tell you where your daughter..."

"..."

At these words, the eyes of Max blazed with rage, abandoning his playful persona. Before saying, "You... FUCK!!"

With those words, he ran outward, in the direction of the metro line.

"FUCK it!" He said while flying towards a certain doom whose nature he didn’t know about.
