Chapter 166: 3.09.2 Fight like animal.
Seven fools had just come for my head, for the flame that burned inside me. The flames of my father who died protecting me and the very flames that I had put out as the prize in return for this chance.
The chance to end that demon once and for all and give my sister a peaceful life. So there was no way I was going to let them succeed.
"These are not your friends from the government, this is just a normal bullet." Captain Remira announced this to me, letting me know how incomplete the information in front of my would-be assassins should be.
Meaning they were not sent here from Cynark to recover this flame, but by a third party who only had part of this information. Anyone who has knowledge of my state would know that normal physical attacks were nothing to me. With my inhuman regenerative rate, a physical injury like that won’t take much time to regrow.
An edge against them, I must say.
"So you found yourself a bodyguard?" The man said as if he knew me. But I didn’t reply. Just looking toward him deeply.
I want to kill them. This thought appeared in my head at random. "I will kill you and your friends." Then vocalized by my own lips, I tried to walk toward them but was stopped on my path due to Captain Remmira’s sword.
"I am the captain here and I haven’t allowed you to fight yet." Her words were cold, almost making me back off a bit. But then, the mockery that I held for her in my heart took over my mind and I retained my calmness. "I am sorry." I apologized.
But she didn’t reply at all, and as she walked forward, I couldn’t see her face anymore, only a strong back. "I am Remira Wyrmwood, Master level Knight of Radiance. If you don’t wish to die, then back off." First was a scare tactic. Threatening the fools who came out in the sun to deal with me.
This might appear as a good plan, but considering they used a normal bullet, they probably didn’t know the state of my body.
"Knight Remira, I appreciate your offer. But we won’t go until we have his body." The man said, pointing towards me. "And let me tell you Knight, the two snipers that you aptly sensed before carry a 50 caliber rifle, capable of puncturing the flesh of a Master level like yourself, like a hot knife through butter. Don’t consider our warning to attack the limits of our capabilities.’
A fifty caliber was capable of puncturing the armor plates of Knights, so Remira, who was in her casual clothes was far from enough to face them.
But it all depends if the shooters in the back were fast enough to keep up with her speed. Or the bullets were accurate enough to hit her.
A fact that the assassins knew well. But this was a threat. "Killing them is better than talking... letting them go back..."
"There are still people living in these streets. I don’t wish to see any collateral." Unexpectedly weak. I considered her to be of strong will, who will choose the most optimal option while dealing with any scenario. Just like I had seen her with a doomed couple of Knights in the sewer. Due to her coldness, she was the only one that survived the fight.
But now?
Now she cared for the innocents? Heh, don’t joke with me.
...
I... I need to stop. These thoughts can’t be mine.
"So what they say is true, Radiant Knights are truly the paragon for virtue." The leader of the group spoke in a kind voice, making it appear as if he respected the Captain’s choice. But you and I both know that this is just mockery on his part.
He is making fun of her.
And before I could chime in, Captain Remira, who had acted worried for the safety of the public not too long ago, suddenly moved like a bullet and threw two flaming Knives in two different directions.
Much to the surprise of everyone.
A Knife throw was followed by screams of a man and woman on rooftops, that suddenly got up from their hiding spots, dropping the sniper on the floor, as they tried to get rid of the flames.
"This I like," I said, finally understanding what she just did. But now was not the time to think. Just like her body had moved, others on the ground level fired their weapons at her as well as me.
One to the shoulder and the other to the head, causing me to jerk to the back. But I soon regained my balance and saw how the assassins made their move on the Captain, while I was sidelined, considered to be dead.
A chance, I thought with a smile. My physical powers matched that of an adept Knight and most of these men were at an adept level as well, with the exception of their leaders, who seemed much stronger. Giving me a fighting chance.
"Fight!!" But unlike what I would have done, I used a proper opportunity brought by the misconception that I was dead and struck them from the back. I put my hands up like an animal and shouted the word "Fight" attracting their attention again, as the hat that had been hiding my face from the sun fell to the ground after the bullet to my head, exposing my supple skin to the hot sun.
Causing it to burn.
But I felt no pain at that moment, my eyes started to see blood, most of which was probably from the bullet wound on my forehead.
"HAha! he!... I missed this."
******
"HAha! He!... I missed this." Farhad saw blood at this point. He didn’t know what happened nor could he properly maintain his thoughts in his head. He just lunged at the closest one like an animal.
With his head starting to smoke under the sun, he swiped his gloved hands at the sword, causing his fingers to fly off in the air instead. But he ignored his pain and blood loss, he just smiled and then before his target could understand what was going on, Farhad used his shoulder to weaken the assassin’s footing, causing the gun he was taking out in response to Farhad’s attack to misfire.
"Fuck, this thing is not human." He shouted, before requesting support. But the three of the assassins were occupied by the attacks of Remira, with only one of them free enough to turn his head toward the bizarre being that just attacked his companion.
"Keep it occupied." His companions shouted. And Farhad’s target did his best to stop him. Even slamming his sword at Farhad’s head, who didn’t dodge or deflect the attack at all. He just smiled and opened his neck clean, letting the sword fall, and then, much to the horror of the assassin, got stuck halfway cutting Farhad’s neck.
"Caught yuu," Farhad said, as blood sprayed from his mouth and directly onto the knight. Which disoriented him enough for Farhad to finally grab the shoulder of the Knight.
Or so he tried to, but with his fingers missing. He lost his chance and the Assassin Knight also abandoned his sword and backed off from the Farhad.
"This monster." He looked at Farhad, the target he was meant to kill. Who should have died multiple times by now? But as the assassin saw how gently Farhad took out his Sword lodged in his neck with his left hand.
He finally confirmed the reality.
"We came underprepared." he thought to himself, while his companion came and fired at Farhad in panic as well. But none of the bullets worked. Ignoring the new holes in his body, Farhad took a look at the sword and said. "It ould be easier lor you to cept ur fate."
Though few of his words actually made sense. The two assassins understood what Farhad meant clearly. "Killing him would be harder, we have to back off now."
They were not mindless zealots. To them, this was just a hit and nothing more. And they came awfully prepared. So it would be better for them to back off for now and come later, prepared.
This was their plan.
"Don’t even think about escaping." The sound of Remira came, causing the men to turn their heads for a second and see how the other three were already making their escape. But that was the limit.
Remira’s sword caught fire, and so did Farhad whose smoking head caught a yellow fire. Making him look like a creature from hell.
"I..." Farhad didn’t speak much, he just lunged at his enemies like an animal again.
*****
Killing these men took priority. Letting them live would only cause future problems, and if she killed them brutally enough, their fates would act like a warning to others who might plan to come after them, during this journey.
An example that would keep the fools at bay.
This was why she was strict once she acted. After dealing with the snipers who are usually stationary for perfect accuracy, she had attacked these men, and not much to her surprise Farhad had joined the fray as well.
But the way he fought, it was more like an animal. Completely fighting on instinct and he also seemed to be out of control.
’I can handle him.’ She thought to herself, before keeping her focus on the Master Knight, who was the most dangerous one, for he had the bloodline of some poisonous totem. A poison that was slowly spreading in her body.
