Chapter 127: 2: Epilogue-2

It was a well-known fact that the mages from the ancient times have been a feared bunch. In old legends, they never played the part of good guys.

From kidnapping children with talent, using humans in their experiments, and causing magical disasters that rendered countless dead have made the name of Mages bad.

Stories that were not really stories, but events that happened in the past.

And it was only in the last couple of centuries with the arrival of industrialization that the mages opened their door and joined the community.

Opening several colleges throughout the world, but would still never remove the dark history they carried on their back.

"Actions have consequences, without them, the mages would get too arrogant." The owner of the Wortham Principality spoke, putting Anna down at once.

"All the survivors of the institute will not answer to the military. This includes the students as well."

"And when Venglebod is healed. You and him will stay with me from now on."

This was not a request, but a clean threat.

The prince appeared kind, but he was far from it. A warlord who had spread fear on the battlefield and had gone so far as to kill the only extended family he had, the Bloodheart family just due to the threat they held to the Fire Crow.

A family that was born out of his oldest sister who had helped him reach where he is today. But to him, familial bonds were not as important as the safety and security of this country.

It’s why he sat in this place, becoming the wall that the Republic of Yethel could never break.

He was old again, a fate that Kairut had expected. But due to his early departure, he was freer than anyone else.

Knowing the situation was turning for the worse, he ran like a rat and escaped the disaster. Preventing himself from being marked by Blue Rose, like many others in her presence automatically experienced.

But it also made him directionless.

"Jester really did abandon me. Or died, probably died." Like an old hermit, he sat at the train station that was in the middle of nowhere with only a small village attached to it where there was not even a hint of modernization.

But it also made it easier for him to hide here.

"Kid, what is it today?" Kairut asked the child who brought him his lunch in a banana leaf. "Mother cooked some fish and raw banana, it’s a bit spicy, so take it easy old man." The kid said while putting the lunch before Kairut, before asking if he should fill his canteen with water. "Squeeze some lemon and salt in it, I will give you extra copper for that."

He waited here for his train. The railway line was active, but it took two weeks for a passenger train to come here. And he was waiting for that. As for the food he ate now?

There was no need for him to eat at all, his body was self-sufficient due to the magic that flowed in his body. He only did it for one reason alone.

’I am going to die anyway. Let’s enjoy the remaining time like a normal human.’

After the last fight, he had come to accept his end. Jester was dead for sure, he could feel that the contract on his heart had been undone. While going to meet with the current Blue Rose was next to impossible as he had no way to find them.

He had been deemed a criminal by the Kingdom of Cynark and mage hunters are roaming around with the desire to hunt him down. Making his situation bleak.

But did he regret any of his actions?

No, he was never weak-minded. He would stand by his choices no matter how wrong they end up being. He gambled with a chance at a new life and failed.

"Here you go." Kairut gave the kid some money, along with a single copper coin. "Keep it hidden from your mother." He spoke with a smile like a kind grandpa. Completely unbecoming of the Tower Master of the Occult he once was.

"Thanks, gramps!" The kid smiled, walking out of the waiting room of the station, and meeting a weird man his way. A man with horns.

But recalling what his mother had taught him, he didn’t look above, he just turned and left in a hurry while praying for the old gramps, never showing a hint of curiosity at all as he left.

"You have his smell." The man said looking at Kairut who had opened his Banana leaf, exposing the spicy roasted fish and plantain mash on the side. "Who are you?" Kairut asked before turning to look at the man’s head where his bull-like horns grew.

"Those are some peculiar horns on your head, sir," Kairut said, appearing a bit weak suddenly. Before gesturing toward his food. "I wonder if you would like to try it, I can assure you, the boy’s mother is a really great cook."

The man with bull horns didn’t mind his cheeky reaction to Kairut. He just nodded and sat in front of Kairut without much of an issue. "I appreciate the goodwill, I had been hungry for a while." Picking some of the plantains with his hand, he put some flesh of the roasted fish on it and then made a ball before eating it.

"The cooks of this day really know how to use the spices. My last cook, god bless her soul, mostly used fruits and salt to flavor fish... but this, this I like it." The man smiled, happy like a butterfly.

"I appreciate that such a common food is of taste to Sir."

"It would seem I don’t need to explain much, you know who I am."

"Yes, I don’t intend to lie here. I know who you were the moment you came. Jester, who once used to own me, had spoken about you a lot. He really appreciates your help."

"That bastard just wants to use me, just like I intend to use him." The bull-horned man said, before continuing. "Just like I plan to do with you?"

"Me?... "

"Of course you... I need someone to replace that bastard."

To the world, Jester was dead.

Many have come to believe that fact. But no matter how much he tries, he can’t hide from the gods. And the one he called Bull was the same.

He knew very well of Jester’s survival but had chosen to leave him after the little gift he had given to him. As for Kairut?

Originally, he was here out of curiosity.

The city of Durum was not too far from here, so he had detected Kairut pretty easily. His traces were still strong for him to follow, which brought him here, letting him see a man who truly enjoyed where he was even after such a loss.

’That bastard really knows how to choose.’ The Bull laughed, before choosing to make Kairut his own.

As for whether the Jester had planned for him to do it? Bull didn’t know nor did he care. He was looking for a good butler and he had found him in the form of Kairut.

Not to mention that told look and mustache, it truly looked noble.

"Work with me, and the woman that cooked this. I enjoyed her food a bit too much."

This was Kairut’s first interaction with the god and it actually was pretty normal.

Though, not all gods were like Bull.

Blue Rose, woke up from her slumber in the body of a petite young woman. Her eyes radiated the morning sun, while her body exuded a dark charm. But none that stood next to her dared to ever look at her beauty.

"Cover me." She ordered, causing many to flock to her, slowly helping her wear her clothes perfectly.

However, the moment they were done, their bodies turned to dust. Sent to the cycle of reincarnation that the zealots of Blue Lotus have wished for so much.

And this death was nothing to be sad about, instead, those who had been standing outside of the room were envious of their sacrifice, their luck.

"Mistress, I wonder if you like the anchor I prepared for you?"

A man with a rotten hand spoke with a bright smile, ignoring the heavy darkness that he carried in his right eye, he glanced at the woman who had just left her room.

"Passable, but it was to be expected. I would look for an appropriate vessel in the future." She spoke, before turning to him and asking. "Tell him to come to me. I wish to see who the current leader of Blue Lotus is."

"And learn from him, who this Jester that you speak of so much was."

Farhad was not a human anymore, he wouldn’t age, he wouldn’t exude warmth nor would he be able to walk in the sun properly.

Nor would he experience a peaceful death, this is one thing he was sure of.

None of it hurt him, he was not fearful of the future. Nor what the world had stored for him who was not a human anymore.

But there was one thing he was sure of and that was the fact that he was The Prince’s property. Shown by the fact that there stood two agents beside him with the sole job of "Protecting" him, while he was taken back to his home, along with the frozen corpse of his father.

A fact that did scare him. And for some odd reason, he was able to maintain his calm and act as if everything was normal.

Which was unlike him, but he kept at it.

And before he knew it, he arrived at his house.

The small bungalow was filled with countless people, a whole crowd of people who had respected his father and family friends were waiting for the arrival of the surviving son and the corpse of the hero.

And in front of the bungalow where the car stopped. There stood his older sister, maintaining the same old coldness she had exuded to him throughout his life.
