Chapter 125: 2.32.3 End of this arc.
Before Anna could ask for details, the body of Kassandra had been surrounded by the beast turned illusory before disappearing from sight.
"You." Anna was confused about whether she should continue her pursuit, but the moment the god was born, her body weakened, making her almost fall to the ground. But due to the distance, the impact on her body was not as heavy.
And taking this as a calling sign, she turned her way. Somewhat getting what she wanted, but only parts of it.
"Did they fail?" She thought, before her small army disappeared one by one, while she flew toward the City on a giant hawk.
But as she had assumed, it was already too late.
"Too late."
The old man cried before the woman came and lifted him up over her shoulders. "Mistress, run! I have already lived for a long time."
"No, I won’t be able to face mother if you die, uncle. "
"I won’t. Soon, everyone here will wake up anyway. You just go. Run from this place. You got what you wanted." The woman was worried, struggling even.
The old man had been with her for a long time. He was a man that was in her life more than her mother. No, he can be considered her "mother" in a way. And with what had happened in the past, she didn’t wish to see a replay of it.
"Just come, you old bastard. You think I won’t be able to carry this old body of yours?" With those words, ignoring the denial of the old man, she picked him up and dragged him away toward the electric carriage she had hidden the day she came here. "You didn’t forget about its maintenance, right?"
"Young lady, you shouldn’t worry, I checked it last morning." The old man laughed, his sides started to bleed under the aura that washed them by.
But he carried on and tried his best to not be a burden to the girl he had been nurturing most of his life. So he followed her in each direction, lifted his leg if he could, and reached the position where he had hidden a car.
A car that was still rare and hard to come across, as most of the engine vehicles were in use by the government or in transport. Only a few nobles were actually able to afford a car of their own, while most of the world still traveled on foot or horsepower.
Which went on to show the background of the two.
Reaching the place which was a rundown shop, the woman got close to it and then opened the shutter with the key she had kept with her all this while. Exposing a shining car without a single mark on it.
Or so it should have been.
"Blood marks?" She said, looking at the handle of the car door. And the blood was fresh.
Which put the woman on guard, as she hurriedly put her hand towards her chest.
"No need to be so scared Number two. It’s just me." Came a womanly voice, who slowly dragged out her rotten corpse toward the group from the corner of the darkness.
A corpse festering with maggots and puss that dripped from it. But for some odd reason, no smell ever wafted from it. "You are?"
"Well, I am the one who called you here." The woman said with a smile as pieces of her scalp fell to the ground. Which attracted the eyes of the woman, who acted as if she saw it with her hollow eyes. Which was ironic as that action also caused one of her melted eyes to fall on the ground as well.
"Seems like this is the limit of this body." Hearing those words, the woman who turned out to be Number Two, put up her guard, while she took out a knife and placed it close to her heart. "Stop with this... number two, it’s me. Or should I call you Old Gangu?"
"... Put down your weapon Miss, this is Jester."
Hearing the name, the woman finally took a sigh of relief. Before saying. "Stop joking at the moment, drag that corpse into the back. You won’t be sitting with us."
"Sigh and I wanted to surprise you guys in the car. Seriously Gangu, why lock the car? It’s not like anyone else is coming here."
Jester was not dead, no. A more appropriate thing to say would be, I was not dead. I have been awake for the last few hours and was surprised to find the changes that happened later as time went on.
Many unexpected elements came out of the field, making things more chaotic than they needed to be. Even a woman I once called my daughter came to hunt me down from the looks of it.
Though, I can’t know the details that happened after it, as my other body soon lost connections to the "network".
But from what I was feeling in this feeble body of Thalia, the girl I had gone into hiding after being hurt by Adam. I can feel that my choice was the correct one.
For I had lost in a way. Lost a large chunk of me. Making me ignorant of what happened later on. Blue Rose has revived, but it doesn’t mean all my plans went the way I wanted. The very fact that I had changed the contract to grant Remira certain immunity might have probably produced some problems.
I wonder just how those problems become. Or whether those problems ended up ruining my plans with Farhad.
’Oh Grifter, my lovely rat.’ I can’t help but smile.
Originally, I was going to kill Varkus first. He was the cleanest and without any godly affluence, hence was much harder. It was why I targeted his wife. I had come to her to let her suffer the misery I had suffered.
The feeling of losing a friend. A friend I got after decades of searching, but was stolen out of jealousy of a giant empire.
And I was a petty being, jokes aside. I had done what I wanted when I wanted and Varkus’ Wife was meant to be the first, then his daughter, until Varkus begs for death.
It was my original intention.
It was what I had wanted to do.
That was until I entered the dream world of his wife and found a weak consciousness next to her. A familiar consciousness whose aura had been imprinted in my mind after living next to it for almost a century.
A familiar smell, a soul filled with violence that it tried to suppress all the time.
A soul that I knew about very much.
"A human now?"
It was the moment I changed my target, slowly adding Farhad and his father into my plan. Using the Blue Lotus to revive their god and give that bull an underling in the process, while also earning the ire of that man who had been in hiding for decades, or even centuries by this point.
Of course, no one will know I was here. And that man probably doesn’t know of my existence. But I do know of him. He is the man that I wish to meet the most, for he was my hero and savior in a way.
However, there was also the fact that if I were to meet that hero of mine in my current state, I would obviously be treated as food by him. So running away would be the best choice.
As for the two, who are the two Blue eyes, responsible for spy work in the Radiant hall?
They were someone I was very familiar with.
The man called Number One was none other than the butler of the Yethels. Hailing from the Radvile family whose daughter had married the now deceased leader.
The woman named Number Two was none other than the remaining seed of Ikuras, Selene Yethel. Who I had called here for one purpose only.
"So, did you enjoy your time with your father’s killers?" I asked from the back, while Selene drew the car after she had sealed up the injuries of Gangu with the first aid kid in the car’s compartment. "Do you still hate them as much as before?"
At my question, she had turned silent.
What happened after I had gone to sleep on Thalia’s body, I didn’t know. But before that, I knew all of her past.
How much anger and hate-filled the heart of this child, I know it all too well, for the hate in my heart was way worse. But the problem was the direction her hate was focused on.
It was why, after talking a bit with her mother, I had sent her to help her enemies, letting her see the world for what it is and not everything is as black and white as she had assumed.
And as I had expected, her struggle to properly answer was proof enough that it worked. "Not everyone among them is bad... Zealots they might be, but they are good people."
"Of course they are. They are much better than me for causing such misery." I laughed loudly till my jaw dislocated. Hah!
I can’t help but curse at Varkus’ men. It’s so sinful to ignore the body of a young girl, letting her rot. If they had kept her in cold storage, then at least, I would have been able to use this body for longer.
But no, they brought me back to the original Radiant Hall safe house and seemed to forget about me. Though, crying about it all doesn’t change anything.
Selene would be going back to her country after this, back to her mother, and probably see what she wishes to do from there on.
As for me?
Well, speaking now would be a bit of a spoiler.
Though, don’t worry. This is just a start for me.
I have so much to show you, so many wonders of this world, that I can’t wait.
