Chapter 121 - 2.31.4 Son of Varkus!

Chapter 121: 2.31.4 Son of Varkus!

A cursed land this was.

A world where I was a human at first, before being thrown into the body of a rat and looking at the human that I once was.

A human that kept repeating parts of his life, with slight changes, while I remained in a cage. Even with all the love that humans showered me with, I slowly came to hate him. No, the hate was always in my heart, I just came to accept it after looking at that human for so long.

A memory, an instinct, and a desire to kill that human slowly crept up on me. But no matter what happened, the human would always play the same game, the same events as if the time repeats itself after a day.

Which would have made me mad, but for some reason, I found it all familiar. It felt like I was in control for the first time.

It felt like this is where the true me lived.

Then one day, something happened. "Get out, get out of my mind". A false reality, I was in a false reality, a dream constructed by the demon that killed me, changed me, and used me. Which oddly enough, felt familiar to me.

But no more, I wished for my body to be back, I wished for freedom from this false world. I wished for reality.

Not to mention, the monster dared to say not to ruin his entertainment.

No, I will ruin it.

I will take back control of my body.

I will be free from this cage and kill you.

I... I?

"Who am I?"

"Little rat, speak... who are you?"

Back to the present, the bleeding Jester spoke with a bright smile on his face. A smile filled with pure kindness that made the rat back off out of instinct. Before he screeched toward Jester. Answering what it wanted.

An answer that Jester understood very clearly.

"Farhad? Why did you turn into a rat?... Did you wish to become one of my minions?" Like a happy fool, Jester asked. Neither showed anger or annoyance toward the little rat who was on guard toward the faceless and nameless monster that had no past or any future. "Good that you are choosing to be one. Some brat not too long ago severed my connections to them, so your help would be much appreciated." He said, moving toward the rat, while leaving a trail of blood from his neck, which didn’t seem to stop at all.

But once he stumbled after too much blood loss, he laughed. "Oh, look here. Why is this body anatomically correct in this dream? It’s pretty weird."

"But no worries, come with me Farhad, I will show you lots of good and entertaining things in this world." At his words, the rat took a guarded stance and then dodged his slow hands easily. Squeaking words that only Jester understood.

"Hate me? Wish to kill me?"

"Haha!" Ignoring the body of Varkus Maisel that had turned tired and silent on the side, Jester’s full focus was on the rat. It was as if nothing in the world mattered anymore.

Neither Varkus nor the god that was close to rebirth in the real world. To him, the rat almost seemed the most important thing in this world.

"Then it’s all the more important to come with me. Kill me as much as you wish. Enjoy the taste of my blood. Be entertained. Wouldn’t it be fun?"

A line somewhat familiar to the ears of the rat. A memory from a long past, which he didn’t know if it was real or not. But he was sure this was a true memory. It was his real memory.

For this line or something similar had haunted his nights for a long time.

-"Are you sure? Don’t you wish to kill me? In that world, you can kill me as much as you wish."

And the answer that Farhad usually gave was.

"No." The rat said, as his body started to grow at a rapid pace, becoming bigger and stronger. Pushing the Jester back.

"I have killed you multiple times already." The giant Farhad, who had obtained his human body, slowly picked up the body of Jester from the ground. "Like looking at a rat," he spoke, finding it a bit ironic how he was not so long before, a mere rat. A rat that had weakened the monster with a precise attack, weakening Jester enough for his powers to weaken.

Giving him his body back.

And with that, the control as well.

"Ho, you got big?" jester still laughed, unaware of the predicament that he was facing now. To him, death was never that scary, for he had experienced it multiple times. "But why turn into this ugly human? Your previous self was so cute?"

"Demon, you have played with my life for the last time." At this very moment. Farhad didn’t believe in theatrics. The cowardice and fear he had shown before disappeared like an illusion. As if a part of his past was gone from him forever. And like his father, he became direct in his actions. Choosing to not waste much time.

Hence knowing the capability of the monster and what it was capable of, Farhad didn’t bother asking why he suffered so much or why he was chosen for all of this.

He didn’t even bother to ask such questions when now, he had a stronger hand and complete control over the Jester.

For, there was no need for such theatrics anymore. Given time, he might lose his advantage. So before the monster could speak a word anymore, his hands clamped up with a splash.

Like squeezing a rat to death, the body of the Jester turned into mush, with pieces of his flesh falling to the ground, while his eyes popped out of his skull.

"Ugly!" Said Farhad at the last smile that was etched on the Jester’s face, before he dropped his thumb on it and crushed the head as well. Before letting the pieces of Jester’s flesh fall to the ground.

"Farhad?" With Jester crushed to death, the consciousness of Varkus woke up. First, he found it odd how his body was still fine after being burnt, before looking toward the giant who oddly looked similar to his young son. "When did you grow so big?..." Before Varkus could finish, The body of Farhad disappeared.

******

Farhad opened his eyes at the same time as his father, who looked around the battlefield, then the giant fleshy bud above his head, and then finally at his son.

"Demon, do you come to mock me here?" Varkus forgot the dream that he had just seen. To him, it was just a bad dream, a bizarre one filled with pain.

A pain that still seemed nothing compared to the sense of failure he felt. The fire in his heart barely sustained itself, while the flesh bud above him slowly but surely corrupted his mind.

He can feel it in his core, he was being assimilated by the being above him and soon, nothing much would be left of him.

It was a death that was waiting a long time.

"Can’t even tell your son apart from that demon?" Farhad smiled, although a bit sad over the state of his father. He still spoke.

Hearing such words, the eyes of Varkus brightened for a bit while he looked at the face of his ’son’ deeply, before shaking his head in denial. "My son? Don’t play with me, demon. Just kill me and get this over with." Varkus was ready to accept his death.

As for the lies the demon spoke to him? How can he believe them at all?

Even though he loved his son a lot. It didn’t mean he knew nothing about him. His son barely ever looked him directly in the eyes. He barely had the mentality to stand tall in a place of such disaster and still be able to focus on him, instead of fearing everything and asking for help.

No, this being, even if it doesn’t feel as sinister as before, he can tell. This was not his son. Not the one he knew at least.

"You won’t die today Father. I didn’t save you from that bastard in the dream to see you die in reality."

"Now come. We have to escape from this place."

"Stop with your lies Demon. Just end me here."

"Jester, your acting has gotten worse with time. Who do you think you’re fooling?" Adam spoke, before shouting again. "By the way, if you are done with that Marshall, come and take me out."

These words were enough to attract Farhad’s eyes, who looked deeply at Adam before saying. "Adam, yes. I still retain some of his memories. You were his accomplice."

With those words, Farhad took out a steel rebar and before Adam could understand what was going on, Farhad stabbed it directly at the position of Adam’s face, deep into the rubble.

"You.. What are you doing?" With those words, the body of Adam burst with energy and broke out of the rubble, creating some distance between himself and the one who he thought to be ’Jester’.

"Guess, he lost," Adam spoke directly. He knew of Jester’s nature and hence understood that Jester was not a fighter, not like the mechanical movements that the current Farhad showed him.

No, this would mean that this was not Farhad as well, a below-average student from the magic department.

"You, who are you?" Adam spoke. A question also in the mind of Varkus Maisel who was as confused as Adam at this point. For he too knew how odd those actions of ’Jester’ were.

"That demon asked the same question to me before I killed him."

"And I will say it again."

"I am Farhad Maisel, son of Varkus Maisel. And I am going to kill you."
