Chapter 116: 2.30.4 Abomination.
The Knights were slow, much slower than the mages that came to their rescue. It was why they were the ones to leave first. But from the changing of the night sky, one can see that a major fight had already started before their arrival.
But it mattered not, it’s good that others were proving themselves useful by taking on the forces of Blue Lotus giving them the chance to go deeper without their enemies noticing.
Yes, Vance had just used the mages as a distraction, although moving slowly. The Knights were still strong as they conserved their stamina. And in just five minutes, they would reach the location as well.
Though, out of nowhere, the heart of every knight in the group stalled for a moment. Causing them to pause and look at each other. "An enemy attack?" One of the Knights wondered. But this Ida was instantly refuted the moment he felt something odd in his heart.
The heartbeat that had slowly slowed down out of everyone’s confusion and panic, suddenly synchronized, and then in a rhythm, it started to beat together.
"I... I feel hungry?" One of the Radiant Knights mentioned it with some confusion. Followed by others who too were suffering from something similar.
"We have to move from here, it’s probably an enemy attack," Vance ordered his men. Confused over the bizarre feeling he was experiencing, the bizarre asynchronous beating of the hearts that he felt.
Along with the hunger.
A hunger unlike any. A hunger that was absorbing the curse of sleep that had spread through the city on its own. Feeding on it, fueling the energy in Vance’s body.
And though the rest of the knights were weaker than him, they too noticed the oddity. "I think I know what it is," Carrion informed the group, while he maintained the speed with Vance. "The first of the Radiant Knights was a Glutton. He feasted on whatever curses he ever came across." It was a story well-known to everyone in the Radiant Hall. The story of their origin was famous throughout the world and the legends of their creator were spread far wide.
The very fact that the Knight system was adopted by actual churches under the consent of gods, was enough to speak about the impact he had left in the world. And with how his legacy had been carried by the Blood bearers to this day and age. It was proof of the potency of such blood and the legacy it carried.
"It’s absurd to think, but nothing explains this hunger besides that legend. I believe The First Knight is still looking over us."
"Might be, or it can be something else."
"Something we are not aware of."

In an instant, the darkness that covered the whole venue disappeared at once. Exposing the destruction that the magic of the earth mage has caused along the ground.
But, the very same Earth Mage remained flabbergasted at what just transpired. She could feel a giant suction coming from the corpse of her enemy. A corpse that had disappeared from its place, leaving only pieces of organs and fresh blood on the ground.
"Kairut, is this what you’re doing?’ Vanessa said, as she shielded herself from the attack of Maisel, who acted almost instinctively after he regained his senses. Which to an Archmage was simple to defend against.
But that shield is what Maisel was aiming for. A shield made out of the earth also blocked Vanessa’s vision of his position, giving him time to attack Adam.
Who was doing a ritualistic Moon Dance, praying to the goddess of the Knight for her support? Which was again thwarted by Vanessa as she created countless walls and obstacles in front of Maisel, while she did her best to aim for his life.
On the other hand, Kairut, who was aiming to save Remira was left speechless at what just happened. He didn’t know how to answer. No, why should he answer anyway? "Miss Vanessa, your shamelessness knows no bounds."
Unlike Vanessa, who only borrowed the power of curses. Kairut was someone who had dealt with them throughout his life. So he can feel an innate fear of what just happened. The fear of something lurking out of his sight. Something that was glaring at him.
So he ran.
He ran away from here at the fastest speed he could muster, for fear that any further delay would probably bring him closer to death.
Much to Vanessa’s surprise, she was confused over why Kairut would run from here at such an important point. Kairut had been staying here for one purpose only, and that was to witness the birth of a god. It’s why he had abandoned his master and chosen to stay here.
However, after thinking for a while, she concluded that Kairut might truly be the one to destroy this curse domain and take away the body of Remira, or what remained of it. Just to show to his master.
Leaving her to give full focus to Maisel, who was putting up an annoying fight.
"Enough!" With those words, her magic turned into fine sand that shot at Maisel’s location. Fine sands that held the velocity of an arrow hit Maisel’s shield like a truck, destroying them in an instant.
And if not for using the spell Fire burst to melt all these fine particles before they reached him. Maisel would have died.
Though now, he was no more different than dead.
This was the last spell he could use after such an extensive fight.
Using high-tier spells one after another had drained him of all his energy, turning him weak and tired. One can see how he started to feel the heat from the fire that he had created. A sign that even his innate shield that usually protected him from his own fire spells was also at its limit.
Either he gets out of his domain of fire he created around him unless he wants to burn to death or he leaves this place. None would actually change the result, as Vanessa’s next attack came soon enough.
Though, before they could hit. A transparent figure made out of pure white fire materialized next to Maisel, shielding him from the attacks which melted on their own after coming close to the body of this bizarre beast.
A beast with a wolf head and human body with six arms, that seemed to be hurriedly stitched together, as there was no uniformity among them. The bizarre being’s wolf-like head also had bizarre protrusions growing out of its head, some looking like horns and others like living worms.
But its look might seem comical to some, or outright disgusting to others. For Maisel, who was next to this beast, he had only one thing left in his heart.
Pure and utter dread.
"Wha?" Before he could complete his words, he was lifted by one of the arms that grew out of the beast’s chest, and then lifted in the air, while the beast cackled like a hyena.
He tried everything in the last 3 seconds, from his normal flames to the pure unfiltered Samadhi flames that the Blue Lotus had been after. But nothing worked at all. The beast never stopped his actions, as its mouth opened far wider than biologically possible and then it took a large breath.
Causing various dark pieces of energy, only visible to the wolf to leave Maisel’s body and fall right into the wolf’s stomach.
But that was not the end of it, followed by the Curse of Isolation, The flames that had integrated into Maisel’s body also started to leave him piece by piece, ripping pieces of his soul and making him lose consciousness in the process.
An act that finally caused Vanessa to panic and attack the body of Maisel in a bid to kill him before whatever this was, gets stronger after feasting on Maisel.
Even though she failed to kill Maisel due to the erratic movements of this bizarre transparent wolf. It still ended up attracting the attention of the beast. And when she met the eye of the beast that glared at her, she understood who it was.
"You are that wolf from before?" She didn’t know what she was witnessing. How did that girl survive such a thorough dissection and come back with an even greater power? But what she did know was simple, this wolf’s body might be transparent and it can disappear at will. But it doesn’t mean it’s intangible.
Physical attacks still hurt this thing, just like before. Meaning, the results might not be much different than before. This might just be the last hurrah of this little beast who killed her student. Before she goes to deal with Adam after he has fulfilled his own mission.
However, she still thinks that it would have been better if Adam had never been here to begin with.

"Hmm, she failed I guess. Too weak." The old man said, seeing the appearance of Remira through in his vision.
But this was to be expected, there was a reason why the gods never let the blood mix. And if the blood did mix. The stronger blood would always devour the weaker one with time. However, due to an error and action of an old Totem, the balance had been destroyed, creating the abomination of the legends.
And to the Old Retired Knight, he had hoped that Remira who was able to suppress her hunger would not fall to it. But she still did.
Causing her body to mutate into such a state.
"Little wolf, I can feel your presence, appear in front of me."
"I greet the First Knight!"
