Chapter 549: Breakfast Time!

"Time for breakfast." Xu Feng noted expressionlessly.

There was no reason to be ashamed, right? It wasn’t his stomach that was the center of attention this time. It was Xiao Long’s stomach that was the attention stealer today.

"Goat milk!" Lee Hua called out as if his senses had just returned. Before he could bolt out the door to retrieve some goat milk, Xu San answered with a furrow on her brow.

"There are no milking goats." She wasn’t done with her explanation, "The goats we had are no longer producing milk, and their ewes are nearly fully grown."

They were expecting the eggs to hatch earlier. Three months was much longer than they thought it would take for the young masters to break from their shells. Even Xuan Jian, who was absent couldn’t have anticipated both the goats he had wouldn’t be producing milk when his children finally needed it.

Xu San and Lee Hua both seemed troubled while Xu Si poked at one little birdie’s body lying on the bed and rubbed the first young master’s protesting belly softly.

"Rice gruel!" Lee Hua’s eyes barely lit up before he looked back toward Xu Feng nervously. "It should be just an emergency food until we can find some milk for the children. We can search in the village below for nursing mothers or find a suitable animal. Brother Min will have a way!"

As soon as Brother Min was mentioned, Lee Hua seemed to relax a bit. Xu Feng was a bit more sensitive to those around him, especially after spending some time back in Dongmen. He took in all of the strange expressions Lee Hua made curiously.

Even the way he seemed to relax when Brother Min’s name was mentioned, was noted. Unfortunately, feeding his babies was more important. Understanding what was causing the other ger so much anxiety could probably wait.

"We can deal with that later." Xu Feng said as he picked Da Long up and retrieved the unsullied baby carrier. "I have some powdered milk in the baby carrier, I’ll show you how to make it!"

It was unclear if milk or a wet nurse was even needed. Da Long already had teeth! Should they start with mushy foods? This was something he would need to discuss with Lee Hua more in-depth.

Da Long and Xiao Long were a lot larger than newly hatched children should be, and Xu Feng had fed them apple sauce already...

Even as he strapped Da Long to himself clumsily, Xu Feng was ready to lead by example once again. It was strange, showing others how to use the futuristic products he barely knew how to use himself.

Whether he actually knew what he was doing or not, the others seemed completely entranced whenever he used one of these new tools and products. Right now, they all seem to be making mental notes on how to use the baby carrier.

There was only one currently in commission after Xiao Long’s accident, the other was in a pile to be washed later. So while no one could use the second carrier at the moment, they were absorbing information rapidly.

Caring for the young masters was a nonnegotiable!

With his bundle in front and the baby bag in hand, Xu Feng began to make his way to the kitchen. He would have attempted to pick up his second son, but before he was even done strapping in the first one, Xu Si had the boy tucked away in her arms.

It wasn’t till he was outside of his rooms that he realized how stuffy they were. The heating hadn’t been turned on yet, but it felt congested. He would air them out before they started using the heated flooring this winter.

The morning air felt nice and crisp. It was still chilly, but not as much as it was at the crack of dawn. The sun had shown itself beautifully and was offering up some of its rays to the courtyard.

Xu Feng knew he was being dramatic, but it felt like the world, no the universe, was smiling down on him!

With the water on the fire, next was to retrieve the formula from the baby bag. As he began to lay each of the other items on the kitchen counter, the watchers seemed more and more excited.

Well, they seemed to be excited for different reasons, but it was still excitement.

"What is this for?" Xu San asked. She wanted to know everything. It was important to store all the information for later.

"This is the baby bottle. We’ll feed the boys with it. After we scoop...hold on" Xu Feng carefully read the instructions on the formula container before continuing. "Two scoops of formula and this much warm water, not too hot, and this should be enough for a meal."

Xu Feng rethought his statement almost immediately, remembering the boys seemed to eat quite a lot of apple sauce. He pulled out a cup of apple sauce and a tiny spoon from the bag.

"If they’re still hungry, we can try giving them some apple sauce."

"Apple sauce?" It was Lee Hua who asked this time.

"Mhm, it’s pureed fruit. Are babies fed with soft fruit often?" Xu Feng decided to start with a few light questions. He had so much he wanted to learn from the midwife if Lee Hua was willing to share. Lee Hua had raised two children and had the most experience in the room.

"I’ve heard of families doing this during springtime when there are many fruits." Lee Hua answered earnestly as if he were trying to remember all he knew about fruit and babies. "When their teeth come out, soft grains are usually given, so fruit should be similar."

Xu Feng nodded, this seemed to make sense. "Da Long has teeth, but Xiao Long doesn’t have any yet."

"He has teeth already?" Lee Hua’s shock wasn’t even contained this time. It made Xu Feng’s smile return.

"Show us a smile!" Xu Feng said as he rubbed his son’s head. As the three craned to get a view of Da Long’s mouth, the cub actually opened up for them to take a peek.

There wasn’t just one tooth, there were three!
