The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 488: Awake or Asleep?

Chapter 488: Awake or Asleep?

Xu Feng floated lightly in the air, several feet above the ground, surrounded by swirling currents of water that coated him from head to toe. It was the water from the hot springs in Dong Yang’s space, following him seamlessly from one realm to the other, enveloping his body like a protective cocoon.

The liquid seemed to move with a life of its own, a constant ebb and flow that mirrored the evolution taking place within Xu Feng.

As he floated in his own domain, Xu Feng felt a sense of familiarity wash over him. Despite being thrust into this space without his consent or awareness, there was a comforting sensation of returning home, as if the spaces themselves had conspired to guide him back to where he belonged.

The purification process began with a gentle yet bold transformation. As the water worked its magic, dirt, and impurities leached out of Xu Feng’s skin, carried away by the swirling currents. It was a mesmerizing sight, the water shimmering with iridescence as it carried away the remnants of the past.

Luckily, there was no one else present to smell the brown and black, small clumps the water discarded in a small pile. It was a combination of a rotting corpse and fermenting nuclear waste— something no one should smell, foreign but also familiar in its repulsiveness.

Though there wasn’t much visible impurity, it was the internal purification that held the most significance. Deep within Xu Feng’s core, the poison he had taken on for his brother began to be fully purified, the trace remnants of its toxic influence gradually fading away.

With each passing moment, his blood underwent a remarkable transformation, cleansing itself of the lingering effects of the poison and restoring vitality to his body. Not only did it focus on his core, it also worked to repair the owner of the body’s internal organs— childbirth was hard on women and gers alike and left many hidden dangers.

As the purification process continued, Xu Feng’s mind was opened up to new possibilities. Memories long buried beneath layers of confusion and doubt began to resurface, their clarity restored by the purifying waters that surrounded him.

The damage from the near-death experience was only the tip of the iceberg, Xu Feng had sustained more traumatic damage during his own hatching so many years ago. The water seemed to target his head in an attempt to restore him fully.

It was a battle rallying the will of his space and the Dong ancestor’s space as they worked together to restore a certain silver-haired ger to an ideal state. But trauma that was over 19 years old wasn’t something that could be mended in a day or two.

What was a day or two? Why not try for several days? Why not try for several weeks? The willfulness of a semi-sentient space was often as strong as a young child’s will, bent on doing the impossible and full of fighting power.

Having two spaces working together wasn’t helping...

Well if the Dong Ancestor was awake he might have been able to answer those questions. Even if the spaces were allowed to run rampant for months or years, the result would be the same.

The damage to Xu Feng’s mind was too deep— beyond one lifetime’s worth of damage— so the energy source needed to be larger. That kind of energy source wasn’t something one would just find lying around.

If Dong Yang had that kind of energy lying around, wouldn’t he have saved the life-bringer so long ago? Wouldn’t he have saved them all from this cycle they were forced to relive so many times over?

The old spirit knew what he was capable of and what he was not. Saving Xu Feng’s life was within his capabilities if he acted quickly, but it was... should have been a big sacrifice. When it came to healing the damages Xu Feng sustained over 19 years ago, Dong Yang had no confidence.

If it was a possibility, wouldn’t he have dumped the ger into the pool when they first met?

But that is why one mustn’t let their spaces run wild...

In the quietude of his domain, in the midst of the gentle cycling of the water, Xu Feng’s consciousness drifted back in time, unaware of the uphill battle the two spaces were fighting to purify his damaged mind.

Instead, the surface-level purification was enough to open his mind up as he followed the currents of his own memories. It was as if the water itself acted as a conduit, guiding him through the labyrinth of his past experiences and emotions.

As Xu Feng’s consciousness gradually returned, his eyes fluttered open to the sight of a handsome man smiling down at him. The man’s long neck held his attention for a moment longer than expected, a fascination that puzzled Xu Feng.

Why was he so captivated by another man’s neck? The thought lingered as his gaze traveled up to the man’s smiling lips, equally beautiful and enticing. They were thinner than what he usually preferred, but still undeniably appealing.

The man’s entire face was a sight to behold, classically handsome in a refined way that spoke of sophistication and elegance. It wasn’t necessarily Xu Feng’s usual preference, but it was undeniably attractive.

The appearance was softer and more pampered, like an old-time scholar or something of the like, but he knew the man was more than just a bookworm. There was more than a pale and thin frame just underneath his clothing. There was an undeniable power and flexibility...

The long black hair cascading over the man’s shoulders added to his allure, tying together his appearance like a perfect bow on a present. He wanted to unwrap this present so badly. It had been so long since he’d unwrapped a present.

He wanted to unwrap this particular present.

There was something familiar about the man as if Xu Feng knew him from somewhere deep within his subconscious. He wanted to understand why he felt this way, but at the same time, he was content to simply watch the man before him. It had been so long since he had felt such a connection, and he found himself wanting to savor this moment for eternity.

Xu Feng wanted to understand why he knew so much about the man, and where all this information was coming from, but at the same time, he wanted to watch the man more. It had been so long, and he wanted to be watched by the other in return.

There was something, or someone missing, but right now, he didn’t want to look away or think too hard or the moment might disappear.

Despite his confusion, Xu Feng felt a sense of relief wash over him. He had been worried when he didn’t see the opening in the cave, but now the man was safe and sound in front of him. Or was he?

The realization struck Xu Feng like a bolt of lightning, jolting him out of his reverie. This man and that man were different, weren’t they?

Before he could dwell on this further, the man leaned down and planted a series of kisses on Xu Feng’s furrowed brows, softening them immediately. Xu Feng couldn’t help but laugh at the unexpected gesture, feeling the warmth spread through his chest.

"Hahaha!"

’Was he a dog?’ Xu Feng thought as his laughter bubbled out of him. The man was relentless, bent on kissing him into submission.

The man seemed to relax his heart at the hearty laughter and instead trailed over to kiss each of Xu Feng’s closed eyelids, eliciting a fluttering sensation in his heart.

This was his... his what? His man? Yes, this was his man. This was his man, his partner, his love. Though he couldn’t remember much about their past together, he knew deep down that this connection was special.

The man’s touch softened everything within him, transforming lust into a warm, tender love that filled Xu Feng’s heart to the brim.

"I missed you Feng Feng." The voice was exactly what he was expecting, nice and deep, even the tone was the way he remembered. The only thing was the pain in the voice. It jolted Xu Feng from the languid state he had fallen into.

"Why are you sad?"

"Why wouldn’t I be saddened?" The man answered, his voice still calm and the pain ever present. "I haven’t held you, or seen you in a full moon cycle. We do not even have a proper memorial shrine for you, why wouldn’t I be sad?"

’Memorial shrine?’ Xu Feng’s brows furrowed again. Why would they have a memorial shrine for him? He was right there!

The man above him seemed overcome by grief, but his will to stay in the moment was hard to ignore as they locked eyes. His dark eyes matched his dark hair, and the longing in them was unmistakable.

"I miss you every single day. There is not a day I do not long for your presence."
