Chapter 479: Absolute Chaos
Chapter 479: Absolute Chaos
Right now, explaining the concept of a space bag or item, was the farthest thing on Xu Hu Zhe’s mind. He trusted Xu Zeng to explain the concept of the space to Bai Mo in his own time. For now, their immediate priority was to reunite with Xu Zeng and ’assist’ him in dealing with the bandits.
Xu Zeng wasn’t in good condition when they were all together last. He seemed to be handling himself well, but seeing was believing.
With a brief word of caution to Bai Mo, Xu Hu Zhe steered the ox cart in the direction of the commotion. Though it might have been quicker to go on foot, he chose to bring the cart along, recognizing its potential usefulness in the face of Xu Zeng’s past violence.
The ox cart rattled along the uneven path, jostling Xu Hu Zhe as he spurred the beast forward, Bai Mo clinging to the edges with all his might.
The dense foliage of the forest surrounded them, casting eerie shadows in the moonlight. The two bandits lay bound in the back corner of the cart, oblivious to the chaos unfolding around them.
As Xu Hu Zhe and Bai Mo approached the chaotic scene, the atmosphere crackled with tension under the ethereal glow of the dual moons.
The surroundings, bathed in the light, seemed to dance with shadows, making the approaching sounds even more strange and out of place. The noise consisting of thumps and bangs had escalated to screams, and unintelligible commands being delivered in multiple directions.
The situation had escalated.
In the small clearing before them stood Xu Zeng, a figure both terrifying and mesmerizing in equal measure. His form, draped in ill-fitting robes stained with the evidence of battle, exuded an aura of primal power.
Gone was the quiet face of the ger they knew; in its place stood a fearless beast, his silver hair catching the moonlight as if imbued with its radiance.
Xu Hu Zhe’s gaze was drawn uncontrollably to the scene before him, where the boundaries between man and beast seemed to blur. The stories of the immortal beasts and their god-like existences didn’t do Xu Zeng any justice.
The transformation of Xu Zeng into a force of nature was awe-inspiring, yet tinged with a sense of unease. This was a being of immense power, unleashed in a frenzy of violence against a horde of idiots who dared to fight him.
The surrounding foliage, once dormant in the stillness of the night, now stirred with a life of its own, obedient to the will of Xu Zeng. Branches twisted and thrashed, becoming instruments of destruction as they lashed out at the bandits with relentless fury.
As the sounds of battle echoed through the night, Xu Hu Zhe felt a surge of conflicting emotions. On one hand, there was admiration for Xu Zeng’s prowess, his ability to single-handedly turn the tide of battle.
On the other, there was a sense of dread at the realization that they had stumbled upon a scene far more dire than they could have imagined.
It was a massacre, plain and simple. The bandits, caught off guard by Xu Zeng’s ferocity, stood no chance against him. Their desperate cries mingled with the sounds of battle, creating a symphony of chaos that echoed through the night.
Beside Xu Hu Zhe, Bai Mo’s expression mirrored his shock and disbelief. It was evident that this was not the scene they had anticipated upon their arrival—it wasn’t the scene Bai Mo had left minutes earlier.
The sheer ferocity of Xu Zeng’s onslaught left them both reeling, but not for long.
As Xu Hu Zhe hopped out of the cart, his eyes swept the chaotic battlefield, searching for any sign of danger. His first priority was ensuring Bai Mo’s safety, and he nodded to the fox, a silent command to stay low and out of harm’s way.
Yet, it was Bai Mo who surprised him, offering a crude but useful short sword. "Be careful," the fox murmured, his eyes reflecting both concern and determination.
With the makeshift weapon stolen from one of the unconscious bandits in hand, Xu Hu Zhe felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins. He watched Bai Mo quickly move into action, positioning himself behind the unconscious bodies, using them as a barrier against the bloody fray unfolding before them with his own short sword held awkwardly in hand.
The closeness of the Xu brothers seemed to have a noticeable effect on those around them—Bai Mo had become so resourceful and calm in such a chaotic situation, and he, Xu Hu Zhe, didn’t even think twice before jumping into action.
Grinning with pride, Xu Hu Zhe moved, his new blade slicing through the air with practiced precision. It was immediately apparent that they were facing no ordinary bandits; the sheer number of bodies strewn about showed the ferocity of Xu Zeng’s assault.
With each swing of his sword, Xu Hu Zhe marveled at the raw power and skill displayed by his partner, yet he couldn’t shake the nagging concern gnawing at his insides.
The bandits, though outnumbered and outmatched, fought with a desperate power, their attacks coming fast and furious. Xu Hu Zhe deflected blow after blow, his movements fluid and controlled as he danced through the chaos, moving closer to Xu Zeng.
His focus remained unwavering, his senses attuned to every shift in the battlefield... but he also had two partners to keep an eye on.
In the middle of the din of clashing iron and cries of pain, Xu Zeng’s voice cut through the chaos like a songbird’s call. "I can handle it!" he proclaimed, his tone steady and resolute. Yet, despite his bravado, Xu Hu Zhe couldn’t ignore the fatigue etched upon his partner’s face, the strain of exertion evident in every line and shadow.
"Ning, focus on the battle. I am here to support you!" Xu Hu Zhe reassured him, his words a steadying anchor in the turmoil. The mention of "Ning" sparked confusion in both Xu Zeng and Bai Mo, but there was no time for explanation as another wave of attackers surged forward redirecting their weapons and fury at the lesser of two evils—Xu Hu Zhe.
With a fierce battle cry, Xu Hu Zhe met them head-on, all his training from Xuan Jian and his brothers’ in arms wasn’t wasted on him. His blade flashed in the moonlight as he parried and countered with precision.
Each strike brought him one step closer to victory, yet the fight was far from over. As long as he stood by Xu Zeng’s side, he knew they could overcome any obstacle that stood in their path.
Even Bai Mo saw blood that night, it would forever be a night to remember.

The aftermath of the battle left the battlefield shrouded in silence, broken only by the soft rustle of leaves in the night breeze. Xu Zeng—or Ning, as he was temporarily known—and Xu Hu Zhe—or Hua Hua, as he had been dubbed—stood amidst the fallen bandits, their chests rising and falling with exertion.
Even Bai Mo—or Fu’er, as he had reluctantly accepted—had played his part in the fray, defending their new cart with surprising ferocity.
With the bandits now unconscious and securely bound, Xu Zeng took the opportunity to add a few extra knots to their heads, ensuring they remained incapacitated. It was then that the purpose behind their newfound nicknames became clear.
Xu Hu Zhe explained that it was a precautionary measure to prevent their identities from being traced back to them. In a world filled with danger and uncertainty, anonymity was their greatest ally.
As Xu Zeng continued to administer his own brand of justice, clunking each bandit with a heavy stick before depositing them into the awaiting carts, Bai Mo couldn’t help but voice his confusion. "I understand Hua Hua, but why Fu’er? I’m not a woman," he grumbled, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
The mischievous glint in Xu Zeng’s eyes only widened as he responded, "You don’t want to be my little wifey? But I want you to be my little wifey." The playful banter elicited a chuckle from Xu Hu Zhe, his fatigue momentarily forgotten.
Bai Mo’s face only got redder, but the reason seemed to be enough for him. He had accepted the title of Fu’er with much more grace than Xu Hu Zhe could ever muster up.
Despite the laughter and slight release of tension, Xu Hu Zhe couldn’t shake the nagging feeling gnawing at his insides. Xu Zeng’s robes, stained with the blood of their "opponents" were making him anxious. He planned to clean up the silver-haired man as soon as possible, wanting nothing more than to rid him of the taint of battle.
Before he could voice his thoughts, however, a voice pierced the stillness of the night. Xu Zeng’s gaze snapped to the newcomer. While he and Bai Mo were shocked by the newcomer, a certain silver-haired monster seemed to already be aware of their guest.
"I know where their den is," the newcomer declared, his voice cracking in a strange mixture of awe and fear.
