The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 449: Residual Energy

Chapter 449: Residual Energy

Xu Zeng’s entire trek from the carriage to the entrance of the inn to their bedroom was spent clutching the bag containing his nephews close by. He was trying to share as much warmth with the unresponsive duo as possible.

Would this sharing of warmth do anything for Xiao Long and Da Long in the long run? No. It wasn’t a simple matter of keeping them warm, it was a lack of energy. There wasn’t enough energy for such high level creatures to hatch.

For their papa who was also a high leveled creature to enter this continent, he must have sealed his potential temporarily. As for Xu Zeng, his body was restricted as soon as he touched foot in Donghua after his bloodline awakening the previous year.

And last but not least, Xu Feng—their dad— had been a freak of nature. Xu Zeng didn’t know how he’d imbued so much energy in Nanshan Estate that the cubs could frolic around there freely.

Once one left the estate, it was hard to tell how much energy was on the premises. Hec*, it was hard for Xu Zeng to tell he was in an "energy rich" place—for this continent anyway—while he was there.

Another important question; Were the two cubs in danger? No. The two dragon cubs were well enough. Just as healthy as they were when they started out on this journey.

They would continue to stay in this state indefinitely. It would take several hundred years for them to begin to regress. Even then, they would just need access to energy to begin to grow again.

The eggs of demon beasts weren’t as fragile as the humans of Dongzhou’s children who could die if not kept warm. Yet, for some reason, Xu Zeng wanted to keep the eggs as warm as possible. He wanted to do everything he could for them.

Their current state just proved how much of Xu Feng’s aura permeated their home. His brother had added so much energy to Nanshan Estate, it was an energy source all of its own. With enough residual energy in Blooming Courtyard to sustain his two power draining children, he was a battery and his children were little energy hungry magnets.

That thought of his brother being an energy source and his children being cute little leeches made Xu Zeng smile a little quirk of the lips that was rather silly on the otherwise restrained face.

"What’s so funny?" Xu Hu Zhe asked, his voice natural and unhurried, but it was the first thing he’d said in some time.

From the release of the carriage to the stable hand, to the journey to their single shared room, the man hadn’t said anything. He’d simply journeyed silently and companionably with the two gers—one masked and the other with his unignorable red fox ears garnering stares.

On the surface, he was the most calm and least eye catching even with a considerable height difference from the two gers, and a mask on his face. (Xu Zeng’s mask covered his mole, so he appeared like a man of average to tall height.)

The man at the front desk peeked over at the trio but said nothing other than a simple and polite greeting as they made their way to the room. Bai Mo had to admit defeat at Xu Hu Zhe’s manly temperament.

They were competing—he and the gentle giant— but the giant effortlessly took both Bai Mo’s and Xu Zeng’s load, walking confidently past any onlookers. It made Bai Mo feel like the competition was truly all in his head.

Had they already agreed to share like the shared room? Or maybe this was just the result of living with Xu Feng for some time? One just grew accustomed to weird situations.

"I was thinking about the leeches in the fields in Sun Village." Xu Zeng replied, without too much context.

’That was what made him smile so cutely?’ Bai Mo was disgusted. Leeches weren’t cute. They were literal blood suckers. Was his ger a little unstable in the head?... that was okay...

Looking over toward Xu Hu Zhe, they had a similar look on their faces—complete revulsion. This made Bai Mo let out a choppy laugh, "Hah—" before he averted his eyes and slyly covered his mouth as though the little outburst were a cough or sneeze.

Xu Hu Zhe had a small grin on his face when Bai Mo looked back, and the leech lover—Xu Zeng— hadn’t even registered the teasing, cute. He was such a cutie, Bai Mo was very interested in them and this new relationship dynamic. This was obviously new to him.

It was already past interest. He had developed and accepted feelings.

With nothing in his hands, Bai Mo moved to the most inward positioned bed, and took a seat. It wasn’t too soft, a cot at most, not like the bed he’d custom ordered based on Xu Feng’s own king sized bed.

"Your brother’s brain is too OP" Bai Mo blurted out without realizing his use of one of said brother’s ’special words.’

"OP?" Xu Hu Zhe mumbled in confusion as he placed Xu Zeng’s other bags— not the one with the eggies, Xu Zeng wouldn’t give it up— on the remaining bed.

"I’ll sleep here," Xu Zeng pointed at the floor between the two beds before continuing, "OP means over powered, like someone who is very good and is hard to compete with."

"You’re not sleeping on the floor."

"No."

The two ’suitors’ stared at each other before sharing another brief smile and nod. They agreed, it wasn’t happening.

Xu Zeng simply looked over at the two as Xu Hu Zhe placed Bai Mo’s things on his bed and put his own things on the floor in between.

"I never knew OP stood for over powered, but I knew its general meaning." Bai Mo’s eyes were suddenly opened to a whole new world. Not only was Xu Feng talented, so was Xu Zeng. He should have expected this, but in the last two months, the younger Xu brother hadn’t used any of Xu Feng’s special words.

Bai Mo suddenly felt a pang in his heart. He didn’t bring his special words journal. He couldn’t document this!

"I didn’t know either," Xu Hu Zhe stated. With the three alone plus two eggs, he was now opening up. "I’ve heard Xu Feng use the word, but I didn’t know it had a direct meaning."

Xu Zeng glared at the two having a conversation and ignoring him quite obviously and unremorsefully. He wouldn’t argue. They could both be big talkers now, but when it came to sleeping on the floor, he was sure neither of them could do it comfortably.

On the contrary, it was rather amusing watching the two have a normal conversation. They were usually cordial to each other, but that was it. Their social standings and genders were previously a dividing line, but not today.

Xu Zeng sat on Xu Hu Zhe’s bed comfortably. The bed wasn’t very receptive to his backside, he furrowed his brows lightly, but eventually let up. Instead, he cradled the eggs closer to him, opting to keep them in the backpack.

At this point he was sure they would be dormant the entire trip, he would just keep them close. It didn’t do much for them, there was nothing wrong with them, these just weren’t conditions for hatching. It was more for him; Keeping them close made him feel better...

"They’ve been so quiet..." Bai Mo probed and Xu Hu Zhe followed with his eyes.

"They’re dormant. They’ll be alright when we return home. This is why I’m retrieving my shell. They need the extra energy to hatch. The items I’ve found around Nanshan don’t have enough residual energy to be helpful and internal energy can only help so much."

"And your shell will have residual energy after what, 16 years?" Bai Mo probed.

"17 years, but yes. Even if it wasn’t preserved properly it would still have some residual energy just by nature, but my dad made sure to preserve it."

The two stared at him as if to egg him on, Xu Zeng could only smile and continue.

"The box it’s housed in has a fresh keeping function. It is one of the treasures from the outside world." Xu Zeng wasn’t a secretive person by nature.

If they were interested in learning about his shell or his past life, he would tell all, and he did. This wasn’t something he would do with anyone. Even for Xuan Jian who seemed to want to learn more about his brother, he wouldn’t share more than necessary.

For Xu Hu Zhe and Bai Mo, however, he would share freely. Xu Zeng had already made up his mind. His body welcomed them both, they shouldn’t be bad people, and they both tasted good.

Kissing wasn’t enough to sustain a relationship, he knew that much, but he was willing to give the man and the ger in front of him a chance.
