The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 433: Empty Home

Chapter 433: Empty Home

"Master Zeng went hunting and plans to meet us in Bai Mansion with some wild game."

Xuan Jian nodded, letting the other man board the Bai Carriage. His last words were only a mumble, "I should have bought Feng Feng a nicer carriage."

The contrast between the Bai Carriage and their own wasn’t small, it was undeniable even to the most indifferent eye. While theirs was functional and modest, the Bai Carriage exuded the grandeur one would expect from a wealthy family.

Its exterior was adorned with lavish embellishments, polished metals that would gleam under the sun’s rays, and colors that seemed to dance in the light.

Intricate carvings of foxes, symbols of prestige and nobility, adorned its frame.

Even if ’Xu Feng’ was doing well and his pregnancy was progressing smoothly, the presence of the carriage was still a show of how unloved the silver haired ger was in the eyes of the Xuan family.

Even the carriages sent from the Xuan Mansion in the capital to relay simple messages were more lavish than their Nansen Estate’s carriage.

’Xu Feng’ was alright, but was it in their best interest to serve an unloved master? Wouldn’t it be better for them to serve the Xuan family directly?

The Xuan family was of higher standing than the main Bai family of Jinghua. This choice was on most of the servants’ minds. The messengers of the Xuan mansion weren’t just relaying messages for Xuan Yang, their seeds had been sown.

As the carriage rolled by, its regal presence commanded attention, drawing admiration from those who caught sight of it. For the Bai Mansion of Yilin, such luxury was befitting of their master’s elevated status as an immortal bloodline carrier.

The significance of Bai Mo’s ascension to this esteemed position was not lost on anyone. Plus his scholarly merit couldn’t be denied either. This gaudy carriage wasn’t the one he used usually, it was only for special occasions or trips to the capital, but it wasn’t overkill for his status.

Seeing their Master, ’Xu Feng,’ with his distinctive silver hair, was another symbol of nobility and prestige. His presence, though more restrained than before, still carried an air of authority and grace.

Despite the passage of time and the changes it brought, seeing him again after several months filled the servants with joy and relief. The choice was theirs.

But not everyone greeted ’Xu Feng’ with the same enthusiasm. Some couldn’t help but feel nervous in his presence, the sight of him stirring up feelings of uncertainty.

For once, there was no passionate kiss between the masters of the estate, but the sight of Xu Feng was still a relief for most.

It seemed like in his months long absence his power had weakened. Maybe he was no longer favored. There were many questions and hesitations, but no one speculated aloud.

Everyone had their own ideas and their own plans. All the while Liu and Min carefully surveyed the servants who came to bid their mistress a safe trip.

Inside the carriage, ’Xu Feng’ appeared to be enjoying the luxury of his surroundings. His movements were fluid and graceful as he shifted on the seats, a small smile gracing his lips.

Even though Xu Zeng had experienced the Nanshan Estate’s carriage a handful of times, he had never been inside Bai Mo’s carriage. Not the fancy version or the regular version.

The discomfort of being barefaced in front of all the servants seemed to melt away.

He was now a ger? Who cares! These seats are so soft!

The silver haired ger couldn’t keep his hands to himself. The two who sat stiffly across from him couldn’t help but smile at the ger trying and failing to restrain his curiosity.

This was a time to be serious yet, Xu Zeng was having too much fun playing with every new shiny thing that caught his eye.

His fingers traced over the smooth leather upholstery, marveling at the craftsmanship and attention to detail.

With each lurch of the carriage and the rhythmic sound of horse hooves, they journeyed further away from Nanshan Estate, down the winding mountain road.

The light of dawn illuminated their path, casting a warm glow over the landscape. Villagers of Nanshan Village paused in their activities to watch the procession, their gazes lingering on the Bai Carriage and the trio of horses led by Xuan Jian, Jie, and Bo.

The once quiet Nanshan Estate had been shrouded in silence for months, its interactions with the outside world limited to business dealings.

Now, as the commotion drew their attention, even the village chief watched with keen interest, a silent witness to the unfolding events. Even Xuan Yang’s departure to the capital had been a quiet affair.

As the carriage got farther and farther away a few servants continued to watch from the gates of the estate.

Midwife Lee observed the groups gathered with a cautious eye, keeping a safe distance as he kept close to Min, his children nestled securely in the man’s arms.

In the middle of the hushed conversations and whispered exchanges, there seemed to be an air of mystery lingering in the air, a sense that something more was afoot than what met the eye.

"Don’t worry, I’m right here," Min’s reassuring whisper broke through the tension, his words offering comfort to Lee Hua.

The midwife nodded in response. With Min by their side, there was no need for fear. They would weather whatever challenges came their way, and something was coming.

As the grand departure of the carriage continued, led by Bai Mo’s servant with the majestic horse in tow, the trio of men—Jian, Jie, and Bo—followed suit, mounted confidently on horseback.

Some of the servants trailed behind on foot, eager to bid farewell to their departing masters, with Liu among them, watching over their departure.

With the departure of their masters, for the first time in what seemed like an eternity, the estate stood devoid of its masters’ presence.

At the foot of the mountain road, the two groups eventually bid each other farewell. The gates, barely visible in the distance, remained open, silently witnessing the scene unfolding before them.

"Be safe," Xuan Jian’s voice carried across the quiet morning air as he called out. With a final lingering gaze at his home, he urged his men onward, leading them on their own journey to Jinghua.

Meanwhile, the carriage carrying Bai Mo and his entourage continued its steady progress towards the Bai residence, where they would start on the next leg of their own journey.
